    I have this same generator and it’s fantastic! Doesn’t skip a beat! The “Form-a-Funnel” is the best thing since sliced bread! I run my generator out of gas by shutting of the fuel valve and let the engine run till it stops. I also use Startron fuel enzyme in all the gas I buy and it eliminates any ethanol problems. I’ve been using it for about 10 years now.

      Do you need fuel enzymes in gas? Or buy only premium no ethanol gas for mowers, generators, etc?

    I have owned a Predator for TEN YEARS with no problems. AND - you don’t have to start it every month. I can leave for MONTHS and it more often than not crank starts on the first pull. Great generator. I place the Predator on a Harbor Freight set of four caster wheels on a wooden frame. You can get it at Harbor Freight for about $8 when on sale. Or you can buy a $5K plus Generac - LOL

    I love this generator. I bought it in 2013. I never have had problems. I put mine on a professional moving 4 wheel dolly. That has rubber skid resistance on the load-bearing surface.

    This was informative. I actually have this very generator I bought some five years ago and never took it out of the box. I do recall it was a super deal. I like the mods. The hour meter was a great idea. I like the caster wheels but I will probably end up buying the wheel kit for more portability. Just in case I have to roll it through some grass or sand or rough asphalt. Thanks for posting.

      Wow you never had to use it yet? I bet it was a super deal. They were definitely cheaper back then. I think they are about $100 dollars more now. The wheels are a good option too. I just liked the swivel casters to roll it exactly where I want it. Thanks for watching black magic!

    Thanks for the form a funnel tip. I've had this generator since 2017 and it's gotten my family through winter and summer multi day outages without any issues. This last storm in NJ was 5 days and the only time I turned it off was a nightly oil change and to gas it up. Funnel with a hose attached is key

    To make refilling the oil easier, attach a 2-foot-long clear vinyl tube onto the end of your funnel as a flexible extension. Then you can hold the funnel upright over the top and pour the oil with ease. Also, always run non-ethanol fuel in your small engines that see only sporadic use.

    Just want to point out that the manual calls for 0.6 QUARTS of oil, NOT liters. However, these two volumes are almost identical, so it makes no real world difference. This kind of error in larger quantities could make for disastrously catastrophic consequences. Nonetheless, excellent and concise video on some simple upgrades and taking the mystery out of the oil change. I'm ordering a run time meter now. The manual neglects, strangely, to point out where exactly the oil drain plug is!!!

    Hey JB! I recently bought a generator, and it has a big 8-gallon metal gas tank. I live in the superhumid Deep South, so I was wondering if you have any tips on preventing rust on the inside of the tank.

    • @GarageGear
      @GarageGear  9 หลายเดือนก่อน

      Hey Brady if you’re concerned about the tank rusting you could consider keeping some ethanol free gas in the tank. It takes A LOT longer to go bad and if you run the engine once a month for about 5 minutes you’ll keep the carburetor from clogging up. Fill the tank up about 1/8 of the way. Just enough.👍

    I was told to turn off the fuel first before turning off the generator. Or, let it run out of fuel. Is this correct? I plan to start it once a month as well.

    • @GarageGear
      @GarageGear  ปีที่แล้ว

      Yes that is a good plan. Shutting the fuel off allows the engine to use up any remaining fuel in the carburetor keeping it clean of any bad gas!
