Yu Peng Chen will be studied 100 years later as a classical composer of 21st century
Agreed. I would have him alongside with John Williams, Hans Zimmer, Harry Gregson Williams, Joe Hisaishi, Yoko Shimamura, Nobuo Uematsu as amazing composers.
Classical music is defined by a time period and even if there are modern composer who write in "classic style", this is absolutly not the case here.
Yu-peng Chen makes use of the traditional orchestral formation with the adds of multiple exotic instrument depending on what he wants to convey wich is part of his own style.
As a matter of facts, he's a contemporary composer, but I do hope that his work will go on posterity and be studied for centuries !
@@arcaelum2022 when I said "classical" I meant it like when people say "this one is a classic", and yeah I am aware of the different time periods in the history of art.
In fact, my mom recently said: "If people remember something (a music genre, a composer) that existed in a previous time period, then it's a classic. Rock music appeared in the 1960s, and people still listen to it. To them, rock music is a classic".
@@Onjerlay Then my bad, i totally agree with what you meant.
Orchestral*
In an Alternate Universe where Yu-Peng Chen composed Fontaine's music.
🥰
Dang I felt exactly the same.
it is Chen's individual music and has nothing to do with Fontaine😅 you show no respect to Chen as well as hoyomix team
@@yezhu-q5d i think what he meant the theme and the composition are similar, giving the same vibe as fontaine, no offense dude. we're not disrespecting ypc nor the hoyomix team
@@yezhu-q5d we all love him, and it will take some time to not make comparisons, this is incredibly similar to the vibe of Fontaine, I even wonder if releasing this was not intentional from Yu-Peng.
My man playing piano concerto without a score sheet 😂😂 goated
Cause he wrote it…
He is the composer but yeah still goated
solo pianists almost never use sheets for piano concertos... look at any piano concerto on youtube, they are going 30 minutes without any sheet
it is expected of someone with the musical experience and caliber of Yu-Peng Chen to perform without music.
No soloist uses sheets. And the composer definitely won't be.
you're not hearing the live recording. there r no microphones and you're hearing the studio recording mixed
Staff: Oh no we forgot to bring Mr Chen's music score
Yu-Peng Chen: ok
‘I’ll just play it with my eyes closed’
As someone who plays piano by ear without ever using score sheets (not that I’m any good), once you’ve played a piece a enoughu times and you feel in your fingers through muscle memory, it doesn’t matter if your eyes are closed or not. Once you’re in the zoned nothing can stop you, can’t stop Yu Peng🤌 it’s like ecstasy but like the literal definition of “losing yourself in the music”
to be fair he did compose the piece, he's probably practiced and played his part numerous times so he's fine without his own sheets.
Wow.
Wow.
.woW
wow.
.WOW
My man!
that change-up into tango got me wiggling in my seat oh my goodness
omg hello ying??
i dont dance but ypc made me wanna sign up for a tango course
@@VuMinhTranDEI’ve done tango stuff before but MAN this is good
It was tango from literally the first seconds of the piece
2:36 look at the conductor man he's never been more happier
I’d be crying tears of joy if I got to conduct for YPC too
Of course he is. According to the behind of scenes of this melody. He actually like it as it carries everybody
Yu Peng Chen after his trip to Fontaine, what a GOD 😢😢
THIS IS SO BEAUTIFUL!!!! I can imagine this music playing in a movie where the main couple is enemies to lovers and they're dancing in a masquerade ball, while somewhere in another part of the castle a badass battle of swords between their people commences! A forbidden romance between star-crossed lovers having to choose between love or duty towards their people. THANK YOU YU-PENG CHEN AND TO EVERYONE WHO BROUGHT THIS MASTERPIECE TO LIFE!
Holy Celestia, this is such a beautiful analogy 😭
such great comment!
i wanna read a novel like this rn
this is a comment of the day for such a beautiful orchestral piece!
masterpiece❤❤❤❤
I love that we live in a time where a wide audience can get truly excited for orchestral music again, almost makes you feel like the Georgian Era upperclass
Agreed. And it's hilarious to me that a lot of the growth of orchestral music's popularity is owed to video games. Not just Yu-Peng Chen's work, either. That thing that was going to rot our brains and turn us all into violent criminals is advancing music with complexity that's been completely sidelined for ages.
We found a future for symphonies!
Well shooters aren't advancing the classical music genre for sure
@@Locklear93This makes sense. In the 19th century, it was common to write incidental music for plays, in the early 20th century, Hollywood also was a fertile ground for composers. Now, in the 21st century, video games are becoming more popular among young musicians and composers.
@@zelkovas don't forget about anime, it goes mostly unnoticed but a lot of anime uses quite the bgm music. And the most known composers are Kevin Penkin, Evan Call, maybe even Hiroyuki Sawano but he's modern era.
The Music Archon never disappoints. 😍😍😍
I'm not trying to overly attach Yu-Peng Chen's new piece to Genshin Impact, nor do I want to discount the brilliant work that has been done by HOYO-MiX for Fontaine in particular.
All I can say, this piece can *very much* be one of the major theme for Fontaine, as I picture some scenes from Fontaine in my head.
I'm happy to see Yu-Peng Chen is living his dream, and I'm happy to be reminded of his beautiful melody.
Well the soundscape is identical to Fontaine's, so associations are inevitable
I'd imagine he already composed or had ideas for the next few nations before deciding to leave, and this is the result of those ideas without having any limiters. It's different, it has a different way of carrying the themes and motifs, but it's just similar enough that one can tell whereabout these pieces were written.
He really likes tango and waltzes so it really fits Fontaine's theme well. I would say it fits both Fontaine and Snezhnaya well honestly
@@persephonehades7547I was thinking the same thing
@@persephonehades7547 I agree. They've mostly already composed music for Genshin long before the region appears. It is supposed to be that way because composing took a very long time to produce. And not to mention how many osts they should compose just for a single region. I believe Yu-Peng leaves Genshin because he knows and believes that Hoyomix can move without his help any longer and he can finally make his own dreams come true.
There are very few composers that create a whole new type of music that is distinctly their own. Yu peng chen is one of them
He is also lucky hired by Genshin Impact/mihoyo because the money that invest in this whole video/for his album is not cheap.
(He also say that in the video where he talk about his statement and the future)
@@williamyang8367 I'll say both are lucky. Hoyo is lucky to find this rare diamond, and this rare diamond found what can polish it. Genshin will never be able to gain the popularity it have now if not because of his music which become one of the biggest identities of Genshin in early days.
@@FireBlueZ this. i probably wont spend a dime in genshin if not because i enjoy the music
i wish i could have that skill, yu peng chen's music was the ultimate part of genshin, and i still believe the new soundtracks on genshin are good but no one can beat this kind of originality
can you believe it guys? YPC album! just 4 days away! YPC album is in 4 days! woohoo! i am so happy about this information. YPC album just 4 days away! oh wow! can you believe it? YPC album!
I now really wonder and try to search for informations about where can I buy the whole album. Can no more wait!
Woohoo!
Now 3 day!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
Im not such a fan of YPC, but your happiness reached me. Can't believe it, YPC album!
@@Jasmera it's a copy pasta for Christmas hahaha
All I want is for Yu-Peng Chen to compose one last piece for Snezhnaya.
Imagine him composing the Tsaritsa boss battle. 🔥🔥🔥
if I'm interpreting his message video correctly he isn't against coming back to compose a song or two, personally would love to see him compose Khanri'ah themes or Celestia even 😳
@@lurko5070 i mean, if he comes back for every harbinger fight just like he did for Arlecchino I would be more than pleased tbh
I think he is mentionned only for the fatui leitmotif that every harbinger share
And a Capitano boss fight and Sinners boss fights too and Kaeneriah main theme
Took me all of 30 seconds to realized "Yep, this is Yu-Peng Chen's composing for real"
HE’S SO BACK
Great to see Robert Ziegler and the London Phil again!
Legend come back hoyomix!!!
I hope one day mihoyo once again commisioning yu peng chen for a special ost or even a whole album because this was just a masterpiece to hear its enough to make us cry😢
Nah that wouldn't happen seeing how Hoyo didn't protect YPC from leakers
Wait can we talk about how goated everyone is, like, I never thought Yu Peng Cheng is so good on the piano
Composers themselves are often masterful in multiple instruments.
He played the main Inazuma OST on piano back in 2.0 livestream
Good composer are usually master of or can play multiple instruments at competent level.
He also played the tin whistle in Childe boss theme phase one.
He started out as a clarinet major. Ha-ha-ha.
This has proved that Yu-peng Chen didn't wrote music fit for style of Genshin... Genshin's music merely defined HIS style!
More like Hoyoverse hiring based on skillset. They envisioned old school fantasy symphonic soundscape with modern cultural world influences for Genshin Impact, and YPC was already a high profile composer writing music in that manner for games and movies, and was also based in Shanghai. It's rare harmonious working relationships like this that birth projects like John Williams' Star Wars or Joe Hisaishi and Studio Ghibli.
@@qpopuiuzmnmb You get it!
no, more like he defined the style of music in the game
@@minminamin344 that is TRUE!
Eh no @@minminamin344
The London philharmonic?! That's a huge collaboration. So happy for Yu-Peng Chen! Congratulations
I can only imagine how much it costs to get this whole production put together. Just a session recording would be cheaper, then even cheaper would be something like Budapest that Hoyo uses for a lot of the additional songs in the game.
Not that this is a bad thing. This is awesome.

Chen Yu-Peng will always be the Archon of Music canonically for me
Yu-Peng is one of the few videogame/film composers that can composers that can compose full blown modern classical pieces. Love the tango influence mixed with what he's done in video games in this piece.
4:36 This buildup is totally epic. The whole soundtrack tempo, the anticipation before the climax, and layered by another climax with the whole soundtrack feels like a storytelling. This is truly a soundtrack composed by Mr Yu-Peng Chen.
And also, ayy it's Robert Zieglier, the same conductor of Fontaine and Sumeru's orchestra.
That's the thing that make me really love his music it's written like storytelling
@@FireBlueZ so they're besties ?
@@ibelieveinwoozisupremacy8681 yeah
Now I can't help but imagine how Fontaine would feel if we had this as the music. What we have now is still amazing, but is it Yu-Peng Chen amazing?
this is so insane oh my god :0
I always forget that yu peng chen is also just a goated piano player 😭😭
AZALI jumpscare
Holy shit AZALI spotted in the wild :0
Im glad you enjoy Yu Peng-Chen too, bro is literally my idol.
Yu Peng Chen is the person that really made me realize just how good music can get; and just how emotional it can make you. I've felt many things while listening to music, but all of Yu Peng Chen's compositions make me feel something entirely new! I'm glad to say Yu Peng Chen is my favorite composer of all time!
2:36 The conductor looked like he was laughing because the music was so pleasant!
I got the same look he did lol!
For a while, I thought the reason why I would always be moved to tears listening to Yu-Peng Chen’s Genshin compositions was because I loved the game. Hearing his original composition outside of Genshin for the first time brought me to tears, and I realized it wasn’t the connection with the game that brought me to tears, it was the beauty and joy I got from listening to his compositions. Thank you Yu-Peng Chen. Please never stop composing.
YuPeng Chen's Fontaine
GOAT FONTAINE
YU PENG CHEN COME HERE
BETTER GOOD FONTAINE MUSIC
yu-peng chen, robert ziegler, and the london phil orchestra make a perfect trio
I feel like we should stop saying things like "Fontaine if Yu Peng Chen" but appreciate that YPC is now doing his own thing, doing what he loves and express himself. Yes, thanks to Genshin he said that his horizons have widened and I am sure this is one of the things that experimentation and maybe drawing inspirations from Dimeng Yuan's compositions and creations for Fontaine have drawn out.
Fontaine music as it is right now is amazing, Dimeng Yuan and everyone else on the Hoyo-Mix team have done a great job so far. We should support everyone in their pursuits of dreams and works and celebrate their greatness and be excited for what is to come in the future.
I am so happy to be blessed with YPC's new works, I am so going to pounce on the album the moment it releases and I am so happy to see so many people enjoy his work.
This was magnificent.
he probably cannot make his own personal music projects if he is still in full contract with mihoyo
@@lqfr8813 yu peng chen left mihoyo before fontaine
@@lqfr8813why not?
@@lqfr8813he is not longer in any contract with them, this was his own thing.
This is absolutely true. The game definitely propelled him to new heights, but to say that Genshin is all he can be is like saying Robert Pattinson is just Twilight. He is so much more than the game he made music for.
The process for him leaving was started almost as soon as the game launched. All those people he brought onto HoyoMix are hand picked by him, to build a team that can replace him when he finally left.
He slowly started to hand off responsibility especially in the Sumeru OST. When he finally left it was because he knew with confidence that the quality of music will not go down due to his departure, and wasn’t that the truth.
ユーペン氏のフォンテーヌでの曲を期待していたファンのための返答でもあるのかなと考えてる

Seriously he is a prodigy. There is no mistaking that at all. This music here is on par with Astor Piazzolla
You can feel how passionate he is with composing music through his works. Congratulations on the new album Yu Peng Chen!
Us travelers from Teyvat will continue to support you
I miss your rich timbre, effective build-up, and remarkable finish in Genshin music. But am happy to hear your works again.
As an Argentine, despite not having been a fan of tango, this song has moved me a lot. Even though you had high expectations, listening to it left me amazed in the same way.
I can't wait to hear the whole album!

Yu-peng looks so alive at the piano there! This has moved me to tears
I just listened this music from Spotify and tried to find something about new album from TH-cam.Finally the new album was born.that’s amazing. This piece is full of power and energy. I have to think about Piazzolla, but it’s different . I think Yu-Peng Chen loves Piazzolla too.Your music elements and styles are so much diversity.
And I must say when I heard Flourishing Lights Of The Snowmelt Realm I cried seriously due to you are a so great Chinese style musician.Your works moved me so much. I think since 迎春2017 I have loved your music ❤
やべぇ、たまたまTwitterでリンク見て聞きに来たんだけどやっぱりこの人の曲すげぇ
the amount of charisma Robert Ziegler has, truly a man born to be a conductor, same goes for yu peng Chen, what an absolute madlad, I'm glad he is following his dream
It has a big Astor Piazzolla vibe to it. One genius from the new generation taking influence from a genius from the past. Nuff said.
in another world, yu peng chen was still genshin's main composer and this was a fontainian ost
This man saves the classical music
I wouldn’t call it classical music, this is mere orchestra, he would be a contemporary composer
Ah so this is the Fontaine music we could have had. It is excellent.
This is grand.
This is underrated.
This is untold sadistic romantic story.
This is beautiful🥹 I live in Buenos Aires, the heart of tango. On some streets dancers play for the crowd, some for money and some for passion… near the Atheneo Grand Splendid, you can even find on a spot a guide on the floor to learn it. Because of this I’ve grown listening to the tunes of passionate love, where words are not needed, only the dancers sharing intimacy through every step, as the music transports them and the viewer to a moment that doesn’t exist anywhere but everywhere, where your heart beats fast and you hear a story that doesn’t need to be told.
In this song I can feel the roughness, the lively emotions at times and full of secrecy at other moments… a passion in this melody that I’ve only felt listening to Piazzolla’s more lively tunes. I’m mesmerized. Congratulations on making this masterpiece!
What an absolute powerhouse of a composer, I’m so glad he was able to gain a platform of his own through collaboration with mihoyo so that I could one day listen to masterpieces such as this!
I am your big fan yu peng chen. The music you create is sublime. Thankyou I liked this music piece also . Keep creating new music.
Accordion guy very much enjoying himself
I absolutely adore this. I have always loved how your music manages to so beautifully incorporate classical music from different eras of history into a coherently modern framework as well as your incredible sense of melodic and harmonic composition, always creating memorable music that communicates very tangible emotions. I am very fortunate to have discovered your music in Genshin Impact three years ago and I will eagerly follow and support your musical journey
totally agree!
Yu Peng Chen is definitely one of the greatest contemporary composers that exist today
Contrary to what many think, this piece would be closer to being part of Natlan than Fontaine, being a tango, a genre originating in Argentina. Even in "Teyvat Chapter Storyline" they put a Tango to represent Natlan.
The biggest gift Genshin/Hoyoverse has given us is Yu-peg Chen. You could forget the former, but Yu-peng chen is here to stay. The guy is insanely good!
Modern, Classic, Elegant, Stylish, Simple, Complicated, Slow, Fast, this is how the music archon can mix everything but still match with each other.
Hope to see Genshin x Yu peng Chen someday
This guys, this is the true modern classical music
Do not hesitate to go listen to his previous work before Genshin and obviously listen to his new album releasing in 3 days
His work has always been that good
Imagine one day we could go to his concert
The amount of happiness i get from just thinking 🥰
Can't wait for the full album release!!!

This would've been a fan favorite in Fontaine
I adore every part of this. The layering, the buildup, the emotion, all of it. It feels like an entire movie packed into a song. When I start the song over again, I'm surprised by how understated it began compared to the emotional buildup of the end. I can't wait for the album's release!!
