Quinn Buckner, normally a very good analyst, was incorrect in stating that Pete Carill coached the Tigers and Bill Bradley in 1975... Bill Bradley played on the Final Four Princeton team in 1965 and the coach was Butch van Breda Kolff....
I remember right after the game, everyone went out onto Prospect Avenue (known as "The Street" as this was the center of campus boozing at Princeton), and the NJ State Police came in, set up two squad cars to block each end of the street, and let the kids go crazy for about an hour. That was one of those nights where everybody was getting laid - not something that happened as often as it would at say, a large state school.
50:30 Shot clock under 10, Princeton sets up a strong side triangle, PG passes to wing, post up opportunity..."blur screen" type cut by PG, drive by wing, Post player goes opposite, plants foot nearest to the basket and steps through for reverse layup...the two players on the weakside exchange when PG cuts.
I loved this year in the tourney. The year before another guy at my work place who went to UCLA was going on and on. Then this happened and I told him.: You know, you just got beat by a school that does NOT have academic scholarships. They don't have them! Their team consists of a bunch of lanky nerds getting their graduate degree in economics who said to themselves "I believe I'll go out for the basketball squadron this semester!".
After seeing two sixteen seeds knock off number 1s in last five I am sure the members of this 1989 Princeton team where like "Why couldnt that have been us back then?"
if you lose to princeton, harvard or yale in any sports, then you should be ashamed! those big 3 ivy league schools aren't meant for sports but for prestigious educations!
Pete Carril is smiling down to the 2023 Princeton Tigers from heaven.
So long Coach Pete Carril. Had to go back and watch this game after hearing of your passing. Rip!

That Princeton was one of the best defensive teams in the NCAA that year.
Game winning play for Princeton at 58:15....Exact same play was run at 27:25, with a slow motion replay at 28:10
9-0 run Princeton to finish the game to become legends in the game

Greatest March maddness moment of all time imo
Tobey Bailey was a ton of fun to watch back in the day!
Spin move by Princeton guard at 42:35
45:00 Hesitation dribble and drive by Brian Earl, coming off DHO

They have some good lacrosse and hockey teams and have pulled upsets in college basketball. Never underestimate any team.
