    Nice build. I have sloped floors in my basement and the best trick I found was to drill holes in the bottoms of the panels (add some extra plywood to build up thickness if needed) and use pronged t-nuts & carriage bolts. That way you can adjust the height easily by turning the carriage bolts, as well as in the future if your floors move any.
    I'd also add some cleats under that drill press table top (glued & screwed) or rabbit the top into the sides... take the weight off the screws holding the top to the sides. ;)

    Great job, lots of very good ideas! One question, what about the valuable space you lost between the lower and upper cabinets on either side of the miter saw?? That's a waste of valuable space man! How about some drawers or cubbies? Really liked the bicycle inner tube idea for edge clamps or even just a little extra clamp padding to protect the project. Also, really liked your 3-D printing items! The auxiliary downsized dust pickup is genius! You should market those if they haven't been already. The drawer pulls I liked, but the door pulls not so much. Door/drawer pulls shouldn't allow dust intrusion, in my opinion, into the storage area. I look forward to seeing more of your videos, thank you!

    Everything you do is ingenious and well thought out. So there must be a good reason why you neglected to use that large space under the wall cabinets? To me, that seems a great place for small parts storage within easy reach while being a backing for mitersaw fence. Nomatter, I absolutely love your work. Great job.

    • @JustinDepew
      @JustinDepew  4 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      I decided not to put drawers here because I figured it would be annoying to have to move tools and things that will inevitably collect on this work surface in order to get to the drawers. I'd rather not have drawers here than have the annoyance of not being able to open them easily. Maybe I'll change my mind about it later though. Thanks for watching"

    • @JustinDepew
      @JustinDepew  3 ปีที่แล้ว

      The area of the dust hose piping should equal about the area of all down draft holes combined. Determine the area of the dust hose piping using area=pi*r^2. Then divide by the area of the down draft holes to get the total number of holes required. It doesn't have to be exact, just close.

    Bought this for my friend for his birthday, and he loves it. Father-in-law was a little jealous, even. :) Built solid, but light enough to move around for projects. Easy to use th-cam.com/users/postUgkxPeGkHOMe05FySypTOvYumxMn-xi39oRe and makes great precision cuts. Doesn't come with a laser mount, but the fence is straight as an arrow and if you measure carefully, it's not a problem. Can handle dimensional lumber with ease, but of course, there's a limit to how thick. Handled a 4x4" post without a problem, but 4x6" we had to flip and cut twice. Only thing we've noticed is make sure to tighten the nut that holds the saw blade when you take it out of the box and maybe check up on it occasionally. For some, this is probably a no-brainer, but we neglected to do this and a few months in, found the motor running but the blade spinning at about half speed or less. Tightened the nut, and problem was solved. Very happy with this purchase. Dewalt makes sturdy stuff.

    That was great. Saw it when you 1st uploaded, but watched again 11 months later, and it's still a good watch. However, I do have to ask, did you ever seal those cinder blocks with waterproofing paint?
    Also, my 8 year old son saw this and thought I should update my hole saw skills, since you did it so easily... he asked why I made so much noise and sawdust if other people don't... 🤐

Such as the upper cabinet doors made to mach the lower as well as the handle on the dust drawer getting a remake to mach the 3d printed ones. Of course that's just my ocd talking. Really like some of the design elements. Curious though why you chose to abandon that space between the upper cabinets and the counter.

    • @JustinDepew
      @JustinDepew  3 ปีที่แล้ว

      Nice initials :) The main reason I did not put drawers there is because I'm always putting things/tools on the counter there while I'm working and it would be very annoying to access any drawers in that space because there would always be stuff in the way of opening a drawer. So I'm saving myself the frustration by not putting any storage there. I wish I would have put the cabinets up higher another 2 inches because I often knock over my drill/driver that's sitting on the counter when I go to open a cabinet door.

  • @JoeGP

    Very nice Justin...full of innovation! Do you need to align the slots on either side of the mitre saw with the mitre saw and each other very accurately? I realise they are used for your adjustable end stops, but they could be used as extensions to the mitre saw fence to aid cutting longer lengths. Am I over thinking this? :)

    • @JustinDepew
      @JustinDepew  4 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      Thanks for the comment. No they don't need to be aligned. Only the fence on the miter saw is needed. You don't really need extended fences to cut long pieces.

      I contemplated this, but decided against it. My thought was that there will often be tools and stuff set on the work surface while working on a project. And then to get into the drawers I would have to clean all the tools and stuff off to open them. Well see how it goes.

    • @JustinDepew

      Mostly because I hadn't thought of the design of the drawer pull yet when I was making the ones for the doors. The hole wasn't too big of a deal on the doors. It's okay if a little dust gets in there but I'm sure it won't be much.

    What size shop do you have? I am fixing to buy a shed and I don't have a lot of room, maybe a 10' X 12' or 10' X 16'.

    Great job, good engineering. But the gloves and long sleeves are scary! My father-in-law almost cut his hand off using gloves at his table saw. Keep up the good creations.
