7 years later, just as good as it was the first time. I will be doing that tomorrow. With a little modification of my fire-wood splitter...er...I mean pin press!
How do you think tension is kept on the track's, Not like a tank where they have auto tension. They have two nuts, the first one, the size of the grease nipple (standard) 2nd one is a larger nut which can be removed to release the pressure... Good old TH-cam, make's you learn new things each day.
Good job. I have a PC-40. Wish I had a narrow bucket and a pin grab coupler and front hydraulics. Just amazing what these little machines can do isn't it. Looks like you have done just about everything one can do to and with the machine. I've got to replace a lower track roller and have what appears to be a weak swing and track motor. Since both are the same direction I'm wondering if it is a low relief setting?
Some use grease piston with a coil spring as well. This allows for movement when rocks etc get in between chain and sprockets. So many jerks who know it all insult others on Equipment comments. Most only run lawn tractors.
blown away by how easy you make it look, I seen many TH-cam clips on how to remove and replace the tracks but never nothing like this, I'm now subscribed, just one question, why are you shortening the tracks?
Nice work. Do you think I can remove a link on my Schaeff ZRH16(3.5ton) and still get it on? One link is broken and I have to replace it with a new or I can shorten the track with one link.
thats a hard way of doing it, burn the pad of burn the link off close up the space with a ratchet strap line up holes bang pin in one hour each side no probs
You guys are mad,you can remove a link without removing the track and all that gear.I would love to show you how. You will never do it this way ever again.
I'm glad to see I'm not the only one taking links out. Great pin pusher. Way to go. Great video.
Thanks doc ohno :)
Nice setup, I had a portable unit for pressing pins but it was cumbersome and hard to keep lined up. Like your inventiveness. Phil

Nice tool you got, i had to help cat 330d put it's track back on. Wasn't easy but we got after all, i was pulling and pushing it with my wheel loader.
You made a very hard job look easy, great video !!
Thanks :)
Absolutely fascinating! I never knew the tracks were tensioned by grease gun pressure even!

Those sprockets are shot almost no teeth left but that home made press is badass
You should try using a forklift next time. I use it all the time to take off our tracks. It will save your back. Great video.
Clever lad, i learnt a lot ten mins, brill track press.

excellent video, 2nd video watched, so impressed, happily subscribed, am watching the next 100 you have over the next few days.
Man those tracks are worn out! Nice vid.
Thats a pretty cool rig you have set up for doing that.
@thequattro20v Thanks...putting tracks back on can be a pig of a job, more so if you pinch your fingers in them.
Very interesting video, amazing home made press ! Thanks for sharing :-)
Thanks for watching :)
I work for Komatsu ! Nice track press!
nice i need to do that same thing on my volvo its just that everyting is bigger and heavyer on a 25 ton machine.
Nice wish I had that a few times. Rosebud and 20pounder gets rough.
Did you watch the video? The way they are doing is way faster then working on it while it's still on.
Why don't you put a video up on YT,so we can see you doing it the easy way.We would like to see it.
blown away by how easy you make it look, I seen many TH-cam clips on how to remove and replace the tracks but never nothing like this, I'm now subscribed, just one question, why are you shortening the tracks?
There was no more adjustment on the track tensioner,so taking a link out gave a bit more adjustment when the track went back on.
You get another ten years out of it now
Can all excavator tracks loose a link when the tensioner is maxed out and the track still isn't tight ?
You should be able to
a great press!!, a job well done.
Can tell you have done this a few times.
Skilful operation. Fancy hydraulic press!
How many tons do u need to press out pins?
@simweld go on,get yourself a camcorder and upload some videos....we would love to see how you do it
You Cheated!! That press doesn't even know what a load is. A master pin is nothing to it. Nice job and good video!
Thanks...and thanks for watching
Muy bueno aprendo mas qe bien

If you have enough adjustment on the tensioner, can get it back enough to make up for link taken out,it should go on.
Thanks...it does the job :)
Wow, you made it look like a breeze to do! Why did you have to shorten the tracks?
Thanks :)
Well that is some 3rd world genius there ..... well done sir's !
It's Very Nice Video, Well-done, Use Very Goo Way,
thats a hard way of doing it, burn the pad of burn the link off close up the space with a ratchet strap line up holes bang pin in one hour each side no probs
Wery nice . Good day.
That makes it look too easy.
It's like self surgery.
ottimo .....
