  • On today’s episode of The Mindset Mentor Podcast we’re setting you up for a pretty great day today and potentially every other day in your life moving forward if you can catch what I’m throwing with this episode.
Every single one of us knows what happiness feels like, and yet many of us struggle to put it into words. The reality is that “happiness” means something different to everyone. However, I believe that regardless of what happiness means for you, it really all boils down to 1 very specific realization.
That 1 realization is that happiness is a state of mind that can only exist when desires are absent. That’s not entirely all there is to it though, but I strongly believe that “desire” is the one true barrier between being happy and not. Desire is a contract that we make for ourselves to NOT be happy, until we have what it is that we want.
In this episode we’ll unpack what desire really is, how it hurts us, and everything else you need to fully understand in order to start looking at life with new eyes today and get closer to living a more fulfilling life of peace and happiness.
    If you like this episode…
Make sure to share it with someone that needs to hear it and help us get the message out there so that together we can help make people’s lives better and make the world a better place.
    And BY THE WAY:

I talk to my clients about being aware of "happiness destination" so this podcast very much aligns.

That's funny about being quiet in a room by yourself. I dealt with depression I'm finally getting a grasp on it and what you said is the opposite of what I'm trying to do. So I'm going to do the busywork for now because I have a project that would change my life. Forever I will take 45 minute break the stare at the ceiling. And be happy of what I've accomplished that week and be happy about it.thanks again Rob

You can still feel your emotions while choosing to be happy it’s about accepting them and being present with them

How can I attract financial abundance when I am very poor and so full of anxiety. I can barely breath let alone thing from a state of already having. Will I always be broke if I never figure out how to be positive and Happy

I agree with about 98% of what Rob says. However 2% of this video I completely disagree with. And the 2% of what he doesn’t address here is things that happen to people beyond their control. This does not speak to someone who has been stricken with chronic illness that can throw off the trajectory of their life. This does not take into consideration maybe someone who was paralyzed, someone who continually gets laid off, maybe someone that has received physical malformations to their body through trauma, etc. point here is that while it is important to try and be positive and continually move forward if there is someone out there who bad shit constantly keeps happening to it is hard for that person to be happy and content. Unhappiness comes from you not being where you’d thought you be at at this moment in time…it’s essentially your blueprint for how you thought/think things should go. If that blueprint is not in alignment with where you are then you suffer. I encourage all people to strive for goals, dream dreams, work hard, but the uncontrollable is sometimes what controls us. That’s when we hit our knees and beg for a higher power to help. Sometimes the 2% weighs more than the 98%. Stay blessed.

I see that there's value in what is being said, those are good tips. However, it's a very narrow view and an oversimplification. If everyone could simply think their way out of stress, depression, mental illness, and trauma, the words depression, mental illness, and trauma would not exist. Can shifting your perception, being content, and being present help? Surely, but it can not cure mental illness, it can not stop or reverse damage from psychological changes to the brain due to trauma. So, although there's value to being content and not letting desire run your life, that isn't the end all be all for happiness, unfortunately.
