Duuuude! This video really hit, and not just the drawing advice, the backstory too. My head drawings and angles have really improved in just a few practice sessions. The advice that helped me the most, is ignoring the features of the face for now and just get my angles right. Thanks! Keep up the great and inspiring work.
@@AnimeCharlie can you make episodic lessons videos for beginners to learn, like one video for how to draw a head , another for leg , arm , chest......etc , it would really help a lot of people, for me I'm not interested in drawing faces but I want to draw anatomy body structure, forms , pose, more about colour blending , I hope you read my comments
Always excited to see a new video from the artist philosopher! Every one of your videos teaches me a drawing skill AND a thinking skill. I love that all of your content helps me see art in a different, more multi-dimensional way. You might be newer in the field but your POV is priceless and I love what you’re putting out in the world! And of course, your beautiful drawings, sense of humor, and soothing voice are the best!
Every time you throw a curve ball in one of your videos now (accompanied by that Spiderman gif), I literally laugh out loud. It's always well-timed and I know you're about to deliver on a good and philosophical metaphor. Watching this video instantly reminded me that the answer to so many of these art-related hurdles really is "4." The more methods you're able to have at your disposal - and the less rigid you are with them - the more effective the practice becomes. Faces are still troublesome for me (I definitely need to learn more about planes, for one), but I still find this video very encouraging in the sense that it serves as a reminder that it doesn't hurt to mix up how to construct the face every now and then. Great work!
OMG!!! I wondered if people noticed the constant usage of Spider-Man gif.. You, my friend, have uncovered truth that each of these videos is trying to share. That drawing is at its base problem solving skills. And the more tools you have to solve the problem the better!!
you`ve inspired me I been drawing for days to improve but your channel has giving me insight for things I didn`t even think about and I thank for that.
Been doing good, but your video's turn my good day to a great one@@AnimeCharlie . Your story telling is immaculate and we're all rooting for you. The value you're bringing to the world is going to change the lives of many aspiring artists!
Oh gosh... if I had lighter skin I'd be blushing right now! You are entirely too kind!! On a serious note: Truly, Thank you! Not gonna lie... being as I've only been drawing for relatively short time "imposter syndrome " hits me hard. So your comment means the absolute world to me! I'm glad to help my fellow learning artist on their journey. 🙂
I LOVE your videos! as a novice artist your videos help me so much! I want to help edit ur videos for you because I think that would be an important step for you to go mainstream. Keep up the great work!!!!!!!
I really never came to the conclusion to use different methods for different angles. I really thougt that I should stick to one method. I mean I tried all of them but there were always angles I would draw better with the one or the other method:
@AnimeCharlie My biggest struggle is visualizing and constructing characters using basic forms, which you have covered. If you can elaborate more on that topic, I, for one, would appreciate it. I can copy from a photograph decently, but that usually consists of me chiseling away at the paper until a coherent image appears. I can't seem to create using the proper fundamentals.
So when you say characters do you mean using references as a template for original characters? Example would be a pose that I see in a reference image and translate it into my own person using only the pose as the base...
@@AnimeCharlie Sorry, I meant to say figures, instead of characters. I haven't leveled up to drawing my own characters yet. lol Generally, I practice from reference photos off of Pinterest, and I try to copy the pose verbatim.
Love this video. Will definitely be coming back. I paint, and I'm getting ready to try my hand at a portrait of my son when he was four years old. This will be very useful.
I really enjoyed this video. I've just recently tried to take on drawing. I feel like I'm 'too old' to take this on. (I'm 29) but I really wanna make something that's my own. That I can say that I do. So thanks for helping along my path
It's kind of like math. Once you know the rules and methods, you can use whichever one you like to solve the problem, as long as you show your work. Do you have a good source for the sail and box methods you mentioned? I've been trying to find good head construction tutorials because I feel like I have same-face syndrome for a face I don't like, but I feel like most of what I find is eventually based on Loomis's method. Last, but not least, congrats on another sponsored video! You're a good dude with good advice.
I appreciate your videos and I do like Skillshare, so I hope I don't sound like an ungrateful viewer, but your videos are already relatively short, and a sponsor segment becomes proportionally a bit obtrusive considering that the video doesn't get longer to compensate. On the method of drawing faces, yeah, this is solid starter advice.
Oh no! You're good! Complete transparency time... I was just thinking about this myself while editing this video. One of the issues I've been dealing with is how long to make my videos.... but my concern comes from the worry that too long and it may become boring. However, my next video I plan to do a longer deep dive. So we shall see, my friend.
The "anime charlie" method of getting laid. Tell a girl your an aspiring artist and ask if you can draw her portrat. Say your goung to put on a video lesson while drawing her. Let that smooth jazz voice do the rest.
Forget the tutorial, your voice is insane!!
I've been drawing for God-zukes 58 years, and this video is one of the best I've seen on doing basic heads' studies. Well done, Sir; well done.
God-zukes is awesome ima use that now 😂

This is my first time actually clicking one of those 'firs 500' links so thank you! Hoping my portraits improve by the time I'm done with the course.
Absolutely.... It's totally free. So I say squeeze it for all it's worth and once you're done move to the next! 😉
Congratulations!
