I just wanted to say thank you for the videos you have made on this issue....I am also a Ford lover of 3 different vehicle and even a scrap trailer made from a old Ford pickup...I have bought a Ford 455C and has same issues so I am at the point of breaking it in two...so must of what you have said makes alot of sense... thanks again
Hello, I bought a Ford 555 Tractor Backhoe about a year ago. It has been sitting for about 2 years before I bought it. It started right up. I built a 1000 square foot home using this machine. It works great and still runs very well. I plug it in an hour before starting it in the winter time. I keep a charger on the battery. I have a 20 acre piece of property that I want to clean up and maintain. The only concern I have on this machine is it has slow leaks on engine to where it smokes under the hood. Hydraulic leaks in the rear wheels. 2 of the hydraulic lines were broke to where previous owner patched using hose and hose clamps. I want this machine to run for a long time. Smokes and leaks are very concerning. So I watch your videos to help me maintain the machine, but I am not mechanically inclined and don't want to ruin something that is working great for the time being. Thank you for posting videos. It is awesome to watch and very informative. I find some of your comments very funny. Keep up the good job.
Thank you for your documentary on the work. I set up an equipment repair playlist to put your videos on this one. I'm searching info on flushing the transmission cooler and possibly torque converter on the 555b that I'm using. Even though it has a closed cab somehow it has gone water in the transmission fluid over the last year. The shift boots are still good also. Hopefully you have these in the playlist I don't have to go back to Google to find the other two videos.
Thank you for posting the videos. I have watched all four parts . And I was checking to see if you had found the problem and if you where going to post another video about the problem. Thanks again because like you I have not been able to find any info on line.
Hey Tommy, Good to hear from you. Yes! I did in fact find the problem and you can view that video here: th-cam.com/video/t_OUeGDh9iw/w-d-xo.html . I also have several other videos (I believe 9 to date) on pretty much everything I've run into while getting this old girl back on her feet. Thank you for watching and if you run into any issues I'd be more than glad to try to help you in any way I can. Have a great day!
@@mytaborcityhome1002 okay thank you for the quick reply. Mine is a little different than the one you have. The way the chassis on bolts there's 4 gigantic bolts right at the firewall. Two under the tractor and two inside the cab.
I bought a Ford 555b it goes in reverse but not forward I’m going to film the whole thing on here you and m&m classics are the only that say anything about it but it’s only filmed when it’s done I wish you guys filmed taking it apart not just a couple things to look for I guess it’s better then nothing the one I have has 4wd we will see how interesting 🤨 that will be
Thanks for the videos they are very helpful Can you get a repair manual online that covers this engine and transmission? I have a manitou rough terrain forklift that started to lose drive and would only drive weakly if it came to an incline or obstruction it would struggle but now its lost all drive forwards and reverse It has exactly the same transmission and engine as your backhoe so these videos are helping a lot as there seems to be nothing much online covering this transmission Iam going to check the pump pressure and see if the torque converter is spinning before I start to split the engine off to try and see whats wrong
I’m looking at a Ford 555b 4wd backhoe it is closed in it actually has the extendahoe backhoe it also has a large deep regular bucket a 3 in 1 bucket that has the forklift that you can easily slide on the bucket however it only goes in reverse he was asking 12k but I got him down to 10k what you think ?
Buddy I’ve got a 550 Ford an a 555-B Ford an tha 550 when I bought it it wouldn’t move out of its tracks so I new a machanic that has worked on every kind of Ford made an I ask him what might be tha problem an he told me in between tha fuel tank an dash it’s really hard to get to but the is a shift pin for tha shuttle shift an it’s not very big at all it’s a little round pin that if u don’t let tha rpms fall all tha way down when shifting from forward to reverse or changing from gear to gear that it would break that shift pin an he said I’d check that fist thing cause ppl don’t let tha rpms fall all tha way down before shifting an he said I may haft to take tha tank loose to tha fuel there’s alittle block in between tha fuel tank an tha dash that’s really hard to get to if you don’t listen tha tank it’s about impossible to get to well I got my tools an found tha block an got to it an sure enough that pin was broke an it wouldn’t move so tha guy that owned it said he had to run to town an I’d already picked tha shift pin up for like a dallor an something an bye tha time he came back I had tha new one in an was backing up to put tha backhoe attachment back on he had taken off an he pulled up an said how in tha world did u get that thing to move an I handed him that plastic back from Ford dealership an he said what is this I said shift pin an he said no way. I bought tha backhoe an been useing it now for 30 years an never had a problem out of it sense so u may want to check tha shift pin to c if that’s ure problem !!! Hope this helps an takes care of it. It saved me a ton of time an money an breaking tha machine apart.
Hello, I would like to know what is the real position of control valve, manifold & tubes in tractor transmission ford 655a.because they armed my transmission and the F and R lever are inverted. if I act for the front, it goes backwards. if I drive backwards it's going to the front

When working on those tractors and you have to replace the transmission converter seal do you have to split the whole chassis to get that out?
Yes

Thank you. Your right not enough information on triubleshooting and repairing on these butes.

Yes, the shop manual is available online. I cannot remember where I got mine but I believe it was around $50 for the download and it came as a .pdf.

Everything works? Good tread on the tires?
Should I rent it a bulldozer for a week jump on cut? The trees down pull the stumps out would have been all done in a week.
I just want to see how to check the transmission fluid on a Ford 555 a backhoe - please
It’s in the floor right in front of the seat. You unscrew the dipstick and check it. I’ll make you a video tomorrow if I get the time.

Did you ever fix it?
Is this relative to a ford 420 with the same issue?
I believe they have pretty much the same design but I can’t say absolutely
Just got a 555b loving the angle iron idea! Hopefully i didn't get a dud 🤞. Can I ask how long the iron should be?
Mike Ozmun I’ll try to measure it and get you an answer tomorrow
