Absolutely that one moment (4:27) where Carrey imitates Jimmy Stewart imitating himself is transcendent and if there is a comedy hall of fame should be first in

Also to take it further -

And Jim Breuer's amazing Joe Pesci to top it off.

      You don't like John Wayne.
You don't have to be an ass and LIE about a dead man because a bunch of people like you have no class and have to LIE to win points.
      Here's the reality --
      a) John was 34 and tried to enlist multiple times. He was also a father with dependent children. The military does not like to accept or draft people in their mid-30s who have children!
Likewise, it was not desirable to draft men who were the only sons in their families.
Wayne also had existing injuries that cost him a sports scholarship in college.
There were plenty of people who were denied enlistment because of existing injuries and ailments they had no control over from spinal injuries to flat feet and perforated eardrums!
So those those people are all cowards and draft dodgers by your definition?!? Are you that stupid?!?
      b) He was a very popular actor and his employer, Republic Studios, didn't want to lose their star and interfered in his attempts at enlistment.
If you honestly think a studio can't do this, then you don't understand the ability of corporations to influence what government does. They have done much worse in Hollywood including persuading the cops to look the other ways on major crimes -- prostitution, rape, and murder -- involving celebrity.
      c) There's far more evidence to the contrary that Wayne tried to enlist AND post-war, men who DID serve, like Jimmy Stewart and Robert Montgomery DEFENDED Wayne against people like you who behaved like idiots without understanding and knowing the facts about the situation!
I don't care if you like John Wayne but don't lie. That says a lot about your character when you feel like you have to lie or spread lies to win an argument.

Mark McKinney trying to be over the top and still missing about 90% of Jim Carrey energy shows you how Carrey is an absolute power house. His elderly character oozes more energy than the impression of his young self.

I think Jim Carrey noticed the wire was beginning to stick out of the foam bat prop, and very casually turned it away from view and pushed the wire back in, without missing a beat in his dialogue, right before he was about to hit the camera with it. That's some impressive multi-tasking.

This was the best SNL episode I've ever seen, because Jim Carrey put everything into each skit, making even otherwise lame skits hilarious. The episode didn't run out of steam towards the end like most SNL episodes do.

😂🤣😂 (legit lol) OMG!! I remember the night this episode aired live. As usual, all week NBC hyped who'd be hosting, so just in case I forgot or whatever, I set the VCR to record it.
As SNL was coming on, there was a massive thunderstorm, (w/ a tornado), rolling through Stillwater, MN, that night. Yet, as big fans of Jim Carrey, my brother, our friend Jonah, & myself, stayed by the TV, instead of taking shelter as was recommended, laughing our asses off at the scene...especially near the end. Then we kept rewinding the tape, watching it over and over; laughing just as hard or harder the first few times! 🤣😂🤣 I remember fucking crying from laughing so hard! Great stuff!! 👏🏼🤘🏼👏🏼

Hilarious sketch & one of the greatest SNL episodes ever. Jim Carrey's 1st time hosting back in 96. My favorite sketch from that episode was the "Night at the roxbury" club hopping sketch with Will Farrel & Chris Kattan lmao!
