- Had a lot of questions about how I achieved this neon futuristic look on my last car project, so i thought I'd showcase exactly what went on to achieve the final result!
Quick note to say thank you to everyone who has subscribed and liked my recent videos. i didn't expect it at all and it means a lot!

I really appreciate your videos. There are so many blender youtubers with clickbaity tutorials and just bad/wrong content without any effort to achieve realism. Many of them are selfpromoting their paid courses which is hilarious because at the end they really don’t know what they are doing. As a car designer you don’t necessarily learn this stuff in university and in general I think blender is becoming more serious in the automotive industry. I really like your attention to detail and cant wait for further breakdowns of your workflow
Thanks so much! Yeah I’ve really noticed that too and I’m trying to be as open as possible :) blender definitely has the potential to be a top application so the more we all share the better it can be! Cheers
I reckon your channel will blow up soon. Thank you for going through the process. You don't realise how much actually goes into it until it is broken down.
Impressive final render
Thanks so much, appreciate it!
Agreed bro. This quality is insane
I've just had a go at mixing two ground plane textures and Ive gotta say WOW what a lovely little trick. This whole video is full of little gems. Thanks again for sharing!
Yeah it’s a good technique! I’ve actually got a bit of a better way now. Using a blue node I’ve created and a check board input. Will do a vid about it soon :)
absolute BEAST of automotive blender, keep up the great work 🤟
Thanks so much dude! Means a lot
Thats a whole lot of geometry for a small area, but the
results are awesome
Yeah haha, I originally made the set with the back camera angle which could see way more so that’s why there’s loads going on :) thanks man !
That's so cool! Dude, I want to know what channel you use for rendering. Currently I am learning Blender not too long.
yo! i really like your channel and you helped me improve by a lot, could you do a tutorial on how to get this sort of professional gradient lights on the windshields of cars? like they do in automotive advertisment, would be very cool!
Thanks so much! I’ll definitely have some more lighting vids in the future so stay tuned :)
HOLY F*** THATS SO CRAZY😍
Awesome! Thanks for sharing dude!
Thanks for watching :)
BRADLEY
Awesome! How did you do the gradients in the taillights tho?
Hey dude! Each of the taillights are a separate object with a gradient made in photoshop mapped onto them, white - orange - red to get that hot spot in there :)
@@ethdavisThat’s cool! Thanks for the reply.
Sir can we have these shaders and textures which u used in this tutorial sir ❤
Great work as always!
But you again messed up the number plate a bit and nailed the rest haha. It's just a retroreflective film not a sheet of metal exposed to whatever like a front plate would be for example, leave it be perfect and it will look even more realistic even tho in CG/Real Life nothing is perfect but in this case just let it be :D
Also I would've probably given the environment a bit more detail, but for such stylized shot it doesn't really matter.
Thanks for the comment :)
@@ethdavis No problem mate, how long have you been in CG ?
Photographer and retoucher first, working in post production at a CGI company since i was 19, 24 now and been doing my own CG seriously for about a year!
@@ethdavis Nice! That photography background definitely helps a ton, like composition, color and all that, but still for such short CG time you're killing it bro!
whats that hdri you using in maground she look good
It’s the Iceland set from the MAGROUND’s website :)
@@ethdavis i know but witch one have been used?
Are you using 4k textures in whole scene, because i see the scene consuming toomuch vram?
Nah not on everything, I think the statistics bar is wrong - the scene rendered and was only using 12gb but whilst in scene says something else, thing the amount of volume stuff vastly increases too
@@ethdavis that's why I thought like scene wasn't to heavy I guess and and it was showing 20gb/24gb which made me to ask you this question thanks for replying
Honestly I thought the same hahah
