How To Composite A 3D Car On A Photograph | Blender Tutorial
Hey everyone!
Had a few questions and discussions with people on how to place 3D Cars on Backplates, or in other words photographs and thought I'd do a deep dive into how to it!
The video will show everything from getting the perspective into blender all the way to a finished product!
Thanks

The ULTIMATE guide to denoising in Blender | Blender Tutorial
มุมมอง 7K3 หลายเดือนก่อน
Hey everyone! I have been trialing for the past few weeks the best methods for denoising and this seems to be the best one. I've tried all the add-ons and tried other denoisers but this one seems to make the most sense and best results. I hope you all enjoy the video and take this into your own projects! Great vid, but why did you add the translucency to itself at 7:45?

    • @ethdavis
      @ethdavis 5 วันที่ผ่านมา

      Direct and indirect are different. You add them and then multiply by the colour to get them to look normal, there’s a blender wiki page about it for a more advanced description 👌🏻

      @@ethdavis right, but you put the output from one single add node into both inputs of another add node. If I’m seeing this correctly, you multiplied the direct and indirect by the color, then added them together, then added that output to itself

      @@SeeYouInBluffington Yeah, so after you multiply the colour, you need to add both passes together.And do that untill you have the final output. If you're curious why, just set up a scene and try it out :)

    I tried the multilayer denoise in blender, but I noticed that it took like FOREVER to render a single frame compared to a single denoise on the beauty pass. even with the denoise node set to fast, it is still between 1 and 2 sec per pass to denoise! I think I would be better off (timewise) for a similar quality by denoising the beauty pass with just more samples. What do you think? at the end, I just recreated in blender compositor the 3 main passes (final glossy, final diffuse and final transmit), then denoised only those 3... but I am not even sure I gained on quality compared to a simple beauty pass denoise. I think there is a sweet spot in render time vs quality about that. I would love to see a video putting that to the test.

    This video is really nice, learned a lot by watching it for the past few hours and trying things for myself, but I'm not sure which version of Blender you are using. I'm using 3.6 and some of the options that you have are not displaying on my end such as the 'Voronoi Texture" and "Noise Texture" don't have an option named 'Lacunarity' few others also are missing things. For example when I created the 'Principled BSDF' I have options like 'GGX' , 'Random Walk' and more while on your end you did not have such things. Not sure how essential the missing things are, since I'm currently doing some changes on the 'light' and I haven't yet gotten a feeling for the car. But other than that the video was really nice, wish that you had the time to make more videos such as adding vinyl, tail lights, head lights, turn signals that are working etc. Additionally maybe add a pack of those 'Smurges' as some people haven't gotten to the part to have their own Assets yet 😅 Edit: including your Render properties as there's a difference between using 'Evee' and the other engines including the noise thresholds and samples.

      Are you rendering in multi-layer? Sometimes if the software doesn’t know how to read them it may just be reading a layer in there that is completely black. There’s multiple files in a single EXR so that’s probably why. You could do your export as individual EXR files which should solve the issue but I don’t know after effects unfortunately. OMG I better had found this video before starting the whole rendering phase of my project D: 10/10 tutorial out there considering its public and free, others would just place a Patreon link and offer it for 5 bucks XD Im currently starting to involve myself into the journey of 3D studying and CGI artworks... so i have 2 major questions if you dont mind to answer: First of all, im currently working on a laptop and you know what that means, overheating, render interruptions from nowhere... Should i invest for a Desktop PC for my next hardware? Being the student i am, i probably will move around from city to city searching for studies so obviously laptops are way more easier to carry on... but the Desktop PC offers me better performance and less heating... And for the second question: Im have been studying Autodesk Maya for 2 years now and its the only 3D software im used to use. Do you recommend me to start learning Blender? Or should i just keep going with Maya? Usually people answer me with "If you started with Maya, keep on with it" but each time i try to search some tutorials for Maya only shows up Blender tutorials, and i also think that comparing Blender with Maya, i dont see the difference of why Maya is sooooo expensive, i could do the same with Blender and for free :/ I hope you dont get bored reading all this haha and btw im Spanish so sorry if my english is not that good ;)

    • @ethdavis
      @ethdavis 3 หลายเดือนก่อน

      Hey! Thanks for the kind words on the video, trying to provide as much as I can :) There’s some great laptops out there pre than enough power, if you are moving around a lot then it wouldn’t be a bad idea to get a laptop. Computers are also really good so that’s up to you! In terms of maya vs blender, maya is the industry standard, if you’re trying to get a job in a studio then I would definitely go with that. If you’re trying to become freelance than blender is the way to go! Yes they both do the same thing but companies don’t use blender that often. Thanks!
