Now some community members what this building down to build a new modern church, Europe holds strong to their historical site why can,t we..

Saw the Abbey from the footpath but didn't go in as I had two dogs with me. So pleased that I have now been able to go on a tour around it!

He was a very nice man but Poppy did not like him say she was not welcome in the museum ha ha. Those steps leading up to the bell were well worn. Very interesting I always thought it was Henry v111 who ran the monks out.
Henry was not guilty on this one, they just got fed with rebuilding it all the time!

I've visited the Abbey the gargoyle was pointed out to me but still couldn't see it lol. The Abbey is well worth a visit I love Learning the history of different places I visit.

Visited Melrose several times through work, spent many an evening in the ship inn. I stayed at Burts hotel which very near the ship there's a great Italian restaurant just up the hill in the old railway station building. Melrose is a beautiful town with great scenery close by
A most enjoyable video, many thanks. Teba, a village about 2 hrs drive from where we live, is where Lord Douglas lost his life in battle fighting The Moors while carrying The Bruce's heart to the Holy Land. He had joined forces with Castillian King Alfonso XI in the siege of the castle at Teba. Douglas's body & Bruce's heart were subsequently returned to Scotland. There is a large monument in the centre of the village, in both Spanish and English, that commemorates the events.

Thanks for this tour. What a shame that such an amazing place would go to ruin. To think that people took the stone away for their own use is just so sad.

Hi Bob, very in-depth info. about the Abbey from your knowledgeable guide. Having bought the GoPro 8 just before you, I couldn't help but notice the exposure changing on the video because of the dramatic sky / lighting conditions - the auto exposure reflecting this by darkening or brightening the image. I discovered today that by pressing the screen you get the meter icon, move the camera to get desired exposure, then tap meter to lock the setting. This should stop it continually adjusting. Apologies if you already know this, just trying to be helpful.
Thanks, not always easy to set with a dog on a lead! 😁 One of the great things about Gopro is the ability to just point and shoot, which I tend to use a lot, everything on auto. But, there are a lot of facilities, like exposure control I could use more of, especially for static shots, so thanks for reminding me.

Thanks, don't we've ever reviewed our cadac. The best thing about ours, is it's portability. It's OK cooking for two, but anymore and I think you need the bigger one. Haven't used it for ages!!

Hi Bob. During this video, the Guide mentioned the Duke of Buccleuch who is the largest land owner in Scotland. He also has a large estate in England, not a half a mile from where i Live, and includes a couple of local Villages, and the site of the second world war airfield (Grafton Underwood) which the Americans flew from.
