I thought the Vlog was fun to watch, especially when Jan had a special word for the paddle...LOL! You both are so enjoyable to watch! All the best to you both. Mark in Colorado USA
We went to the Gargrave fish and chip place AND the tea shop. I got pontefract cakes which are impossible to fine here! Those spikes are IMPOSSIBLE. I wasn't able to lift them until the lock was nearly full which defeats the purpose of ground paddles when you're going up. I was so afraid I'd end up IN the canal. The curly wurly part of the canal was wonderful and so peaceful. So happy to revisit with you. We really loved our time on the L&L but some of those swing bridges were SUCH hard work.
Hello Tony & Jan from the Chicagoland area, IL, USA! I’ve only recently found your channel but I absolutely adore your vlogs and your life seems as beautiful as your videos! The first vlog I watched (87) on the Oxford Canal I instantly wanted to adopt you as my parents - I was hooked! I suffer from anxiety which has ramped up in recent months as I navigate postpartum (my little bean is wonderful but it’s stressful!) and I watch your vlogs and slow TV videos and feel instantly relaxed and at ease. I don’t know how you’re doing it but keep up the good work! Just today I watched your vlog 111 and my heart broke for you - don’t stop doing what you’re doing! Clearly you haven’t, but the internet can be such a cruel place, so the opposite of what you’re doing. I will keep watching and donating when I can, I adore the life you’re leading - cruise on!
Hi daughter Katie (❤️) and thank you for your beautiful comments. So glad we've been able to help with your postpartum and that your little one is doing well ❤️ Trust us, it does get better 😘 As you've discovered, we have been continuing albeit posting vlogs every fortnight and still enjoying this life. Sending you our love and hugs.🥰 Jan and Tony xx
Another awesome vlog. Such beautiful country side. That lock lever or what ever it’s called, was a beast. Dang! Thanks for sharing your adventures with us.
@@MakingNewMemories hello 👋 yes a 70 foot that is being repainted by husband and I in September- my husband has been on canal boats since he was 4 - he is 60 this year 🙂
Hello Tony and Jan, lovely scenery and music compilation as per your usual brilliance in choosing the right track. While you were cruising along the Curly bits I have a app on my phone called the merlin bird app. It can record and listen and identity any bird in any location by the bird song and in just 1 min it picked up through our TV your birds along the canal at that location! 7 birds were heard including the rare tiny Goldcrest !!!!! Hoping you are staying cool in our summer days at the mo!!! Xxxxx😊
Wow that's really interesting will have to get that app! As you know we try and include a combination of musical sequences and natural sequences so you get the best of both worlds (we asked viewers a couple of years ago what their preferences were and that's what they told us)
Thanks for your lovely vlog. I moored at the start of the Curly Wurlies for over ten years and so know this part of the canal well , it brought back a lot of happy memories. Tell Jan that she has to take the lever paddles by surprise and then they do tend to work well. I hope you make it into Liverpool it is well worth the effort and you will have a good time there.
Glad we could bring back some memories for you Stephen. Thank you for sharing with us. 👍 There's another major stoppage on its way in a future vlog delaying us even more...😱
Jan will readily admit she's not confident at the helm, although she does so now and again when it's time for a "comfort break!" 😉 And I do get off and help on narrow locks 👍

Ha! Even some of the lockies have trouble with the spikes! I think we ended up doing them part way then all the way when the gate paddles were open.
Forgot to say I actually saw you as you past through Stainforth and Barnby Dun
Ah, Barnby Dun was our second home last year ❤️
Great vlog,thanks for sharing ❣️🇨🇦
Thanks for watching! ❤️❤️

Glad you enjoyed it Brigid. Lever was a bit of a mare! 😁
Very dramatic music. Expecting the dambuster bombers to fly over the hills 🤣😂
We had the Red Arrows fly over yesterday, does that count? 😁🤣
I loved the video. So relaxing to watch. England at its finest
Thank you Joanne. The scenery in the Yorkshire Dales is stunning ❤️
Gorgeous… and that birdsong🩵

Such serenity and balsamic calm… then a violent explosion of salty language… lol!
Hilarious!
VERY salty!!! 😵
Hi Tony and Jane I so look forward to your vlogs and wat a lovely couple you both are hope is ok with you wish you both all the very best stay safe 👍
Thanks so much Terence ❤️
All well, sort of, Tony's done his back in...again! 🙄
Hope Jan got some relaxing down time after working some of those heavy gates. Nice countryside.
A large G&T if I recall Frank 🥛😁
Simply gorgeous countryside. It's too bad you are being held up by the lock repairs, but there are definitely worse places in the world to be stuck! 😍
Very true Chris, very true 👍 A lovely part of the country ❤️

🥰
I bet that was a fantastic site 👍
It was Steve! So peaceful and tranquil. The views were spectacular ❤️
well that was not a Suffolk saying
😂😂 More Norfolk I would say! You can't beat a good old bit of Anglo Saxon when you're frustrated 🤬 😂😂
Think it's a Welsh word...🤪😱
Sorry Jan not Jane bloody predictive text😂😂😂
😘
Why is that the ladies have to do all the hard work?
My wife does all the locks and swing-bridges etc. because she won’t drive the boat.
Jan will readily admit she's not confident at the helm, although she does so now and again when it's time for a "comfort break!" 😉 And I do get off and help on narrow locks 👍
What? You didn't go in the pub? How boring 😂😂😂😂
Had so much alcohol on the boat we needed to offload some of it to make the boat float!! 🤣🤣🤣
