Edit: So I wrote this comment 3 years and it’s still getting replies for some reason? But I’ve definitely changed my opinion since then, I think Sonic racing in a car is fine because as several people have pointed out it, he’d easily win without one. Still, I think a racing game where Sonic runs on foot could be really cool (Sonic R but done right)

Sega: no sonic even you need a break from running. If you wanna go fast without using yourself, get a jet pack.

I mean Sonic R exists and that game was terrible.
Three Things:
1. I think that another attempt at an on-foot Sonic racing game would be great! The best route to take would be to make it like the SA2 action race mode but with up to 8 racers.
2. Sonic doesn't NEED a car, but he clearly enjoys driving vehicles, he even has his own AIRPLANE. So let him enjoy his hobby. Also, putting him in the car will let him have the challenge winning a race with a practiced skill instead of a natural ability. It's the reason why there are weight classes in boxing/wrestling.
3. If Sonic DOES have another vehicle based racing game, he should definitely have a bike or another pedal powered vehicle with a speed cap.
Bowser jr used his paintbrush from Sunshine and turned himself into sonic.
More like bowser jr paid sonic to win the race for him, but I guess yours is reasonable.

Sonic was moving so fast that not even the rubberband AI was able to catch up with him. They did get pretty close in Toad Factory, however.

Seeing this makes me wish Sega would develop a proper on-foot Sonic racer like what we see here.
I love the mod, but I'm not a fan of the voice clips choices. It'll be better if someone can mod in his voice clips from Sonic & Sega All-Stars Racing or Transformed to make it feel more natural.
Isn't this kinda cheating, I mean: HOW are you supposed to beat a hedgehog who can move at, at least, 765MPH, how do you BEAT that kinda speed

This is what sonic racing games should be. Not that the actual games are bad, but... WHY SONIC NEEDS A CAR?
Well he has to make it fair otherwise it'll be cheating lol. If he's on foot and everyone else is in a car then Sonic will win instantly. When he's in a car his opponents have a better chance at beating him. Sumo Digital did consider putting him on foot in the original All-Stars racing game though.
