Well he'll be in a Kart like any other character most likely. It's not gonna be like this. But still, that'll be cool. I'm not sure why they haven't with DLC or something tbh. He was Mario's direct rival during the Genesis/NES era. I mean they added Pac-Man characters to Mario Kart before Sonic. And Pac-Man only ever really competed with Mario during the arcade days before consoles were a thing. If that even counts. The only reason I say they competed is because they were both in the arcade.
I always thought playing as Sonic running on foot against the other players in karts would be so cool, and what better character to do it with than Sonic.
This is AMAZING The fact they actually gave him animation instead of it just being the Smash Ultimate running animation on loop (which looks really dumb, since hes always tilted slightly)is next level
I love the idea that even tho sonic runs through each course, you pick a kart combo anyways to basically build the stats for how much effort sonic wants to put in
and they can make this more immersive by giving sonic different shoe builds instead, this would also give a good explanation why sonic cant just go at his full speed. we could say for the sake of race competition tales or some other scientist created these new shoes for sonic, to limit his speed fairly. also give those shoes the same gravity tech the karts use to stick to walls. the mod creator could add blue led strips to sonics shoes that glow when used.
From what I understand, Iizuka saw his son playing mario kart with some of his friends and noticed not all of them were having fun. So he wanted to make something they could all have fun with together, inspiring the co-op gameplay of TSR.
@@anomaly395 yeah thats what confusing too. I was horrible at racing game, so I only played Riders and never anything past that. To my understanding the games were liked, except for Free Riders. The concept imo was always cool to me regardless of being bad at racers.
Windmill Isle is simply Gorgeous. 🤩 Mario Kart 8 mods have such high quality. Took me awhile to get some of these mods to cooperate with each other (specifically Running sonic and UI/other sonic characters). I realized after the fact that the 2nd stage's music should not have been slowed down like that. 😅 Thought it sounded kinda cool and was meant to be like that originally.

This mod looks absolutely incredible. Only thing I’d change, personally, is Sonic’s animations when he jumps off normal ramps; using some of his aerial trick animations instead of a spin jump, but the fact that he does something more than a generic hop is still an awesome touch. I kind of wonder if this could serve as inspiration for Nintendo and Sega to add Sonic and Sonic themed courses to Mario Kart in the future? 🙂

I'm surprised the bullet bill item didn't just turn him into super sonic and have him speed forward. The animation would of fit how boosting as super sonic in sonic generations kind of put you in a similar sort of auto pilot mode.
I just wish it were possible to put something to change the materials on sonic's shoes, like using the sonic p-06 gem shoes or the sonic colors ultimate shoes and gloves system to make it easy to tell when he's in antigrav
