i love how honest you are. as a filipino, who used to always go to jollibee too, idk why many foreigners hype it up. i mean, it's good, but for the price these days, it's not that worth it anymore
Tbh Jollibee tasted better years before. Recently it has been bland and not as exciting to eat anymore. The spaghetti has changed as well over the years.
inflation literally be going nuts these days, jollibee has always been my go-to after school since its still cheap. burger steak with rice was already good enough, but now everything is so pricey.
I mixed the Taho when I ate it! Unfortunately, I wasn’t able to mix the halo-halo as much since it was going to spill everywhere in the hotel, but will keep in mind for the next time I eat it. Thank you for the kind words too!! 😊 ❤️
My heart broke when he didn't mix the halo-halo enough, considering that it literally means "to mix" 😭😭 I hope he gets to try it properly next time, it hits different that way
The trick is to submerge the spoon up to the bottom of the glass and very slowly mix the halo halo without lifting the spoon. In that way there be little or no spillage at all.
I also personally think Jollibee is just the Filipino representation of fastfood like how LA does In-n-out. It's definitely not life changing but it does have a Filipino qualities in it (Like how they do Filipino spaghetti) so it became a staple recommendation by Filipino's. However, the next time you go, I definitely would recommend for you to try the next time you come here are Nilagang Baka, Tortang Talong, Banana-que, Kwek-Kwek, or even Sinigang again, but try it on Pork! Glad you enjoyed trying Filipino food, Ant! Also a little info about Halo-halo, you really gotta put in just a bit work of further crushing and mixing the ice with all the ingredients so the flavors come together. You may have found the ice to be challenging to crush but when you are eating it outside on good summer day, it actually is advantageous to have it like that so it doesn't melt right away and you can still do the "halo" or mixing stuff for the full experience or bring it in your house on time to mix it.

Nowhere outside of the Philippines can you ever find the taste of Jollibee except when of course when you're buying food from a Jollibee store. The reason Jollibee stores exist abroad is for the large diasporas of Filipinos that are craving for it. Jollibee heard it, realized they had potential expat costumers abroad, and so they put up stores in select countries. But I do think that for the exact same reason, Jollibee stuck with the recipe even abroad, so yes, it's nonsense when they say that the Jollibee here is tastier than abroad. And unfortunately, in the recent years the chicken in all fastfood shrunk--not just Jollibee. You'll notice it in our McDonald's and KFC as well. As someone who grew up eating from these fast food chains, I can confidently say the chicken parts used to be 2-3 times than what you get now. But I guess it's an inflation thing. Even the peach mango pie used to fill up that whole packet, now it's just half of it. But hey, look at the price. It's only a couple of dollars. Taho is ultimately my favorite Filipino dessert/snack because during my childhood, I visited the hospital many times. And there was this vegetarian restaurant that I loved inside the hospital, and we always bought the preserved taho that me and my mom would eat, and it’s the best I’ve tasted!
Not trying to sound rude but i found it funny how you looked for taho outside of mall of asia😭 usually the taho vendors sell it in towns or subdivisions and not outside of malls, but besides all that my Filipino heart melted by the fact that you traveled all the way from LA to here in the Philippines just to try our food, the effort 😭😭 thank you so so much
Manam was a good choice for Filipino resto! Glad you took the time to try these food out. This also really shows the difference in taste when you grow up from a different culture and how you liked the ones that was more familiar to you. Still, glad you got to experience our food!! Edit: also yes, pancit canton is the goat 😂 best noodle snack for life, as for Jollibee, you can have your chicken changed if you just ask nicely for a specific part
Yup, there's always the debate between Adobo and Sinigang on which one should be the national dish. I'm team Sinigang since I love how sour it is, and the veggies soaking up the soup is just great. Not that I hate Adobo, I just prefer Sinigang. Adobo is savory and really gets into the meat. Both dishes use both seafood and land animals ,and I do think they both equally deserve the title. (But also ,food in the Philippines differ depending on the region so exploring the countrysides is a MUST imo)
IM SO SHOCKED!!! I am a Filipino who lives in the philipines since i was born, and at 2:16 I SAW WHERE WE WENT BEFORE, hindi ko alam kung saan yun pero nag punta na kami jan :) *mall of asia ata yun*
I'd say, it's just mostly overhyped by curious vloggers. In Filipinos case, they're just proud. There's a large number of Filipino audience on every internet platform that their recommendations probably made other people very curious. But in reality I think Jollibee is just where they satisfy their cravings of nostalgia, since it's their main go-to place for bonding with family/friends growing up (same with McDonalds to western people, etc). It will not always be life-changing for all, but it was for most Filipinos.
I appreciate you actually looking up food history a bit. Yes taho is douhua and it’s one of those dishes we in asia almost ALL have with our own local twists here and there (Baguio had strawberry syrup/jam and others might have ube and pandan) and I always wonder when it will become the next big thing to take over western markets… but people aren’t really a fan yet of tofu. Maybe once they find out the texture is like pudding…. Who knows? The reason taho is such an important staple to us is cause of the childhood memories of waking up early to the merchants screaming “tahoooo” and us only being able to eat it if we wake up on time. But I love how you can get it at the mall too. Cause I never wake up on time 😭😭😭
It seems the quality & standard are not as it used to be. But, the native sweets that are made of glutinous rice, is something to experience. There are plenty of unusual fruits & seafood, also dishes made with coconut. There's a variety of snacks made of corn and dried seafood as well. The best biscuits are Sunflower & Skyflakes, durian candies that you can't get anywhere easily, try that in Cubao shopping center. You haven't or weren't able to get through it properly, otherwise, there are so many foods out there that are really good & shouldn't miss to try.
lmao kare-kare IS A WHOLE NEW DISH with bagoong!! the nutty flavor of kare-kare would be balanced with the saltiness of bagoong.. i usually put half a spoon on my rice so i can just mix it with the kare kare... the two usually go together 😊
For foreigners bagoong is an acquired taste. Since he didn't give a high ranking on sinagang either, I don't feel he would have enjoyed kare kare more if bagoong was provided. Just my thoughts
This video is soo fun to watch. It first i thought he just ate Jollibee somewhere in the US. Then he said he really went to the Philippines. 😮 Hope you enjoyed the moody weather. 😂
The technique to really enjoy sinigang if its too sour for you is to eat the soup with the fish/shrimp, veggies and the rice. You can add a bit of patis (fish sauce) too.
Really loved this video! So glad you tried everything and were honest about it. (I really love sinigang though, rip, but glad you discovered the greatness that is pancit canton.) You can get a lot of the stuff from this video back in the USA as well in Filipino markets and neighborhoods. 😊 Just an FYI if you ever feel like eating something again.
Sinigang actually has more variety than adobo. What you ate is Shrimp Sinigang which taste very different from pork sinigang which taste very different from beef sinigang and also from chicken and also fish. Then it will taste very different also when they change the souring agent which can be Tamarind, Kamias, Calamansi, Mango, Guava etc. so yeah try other versions. And also same, I don't like my sinigang too sour. I like it mine mild. So depending on which person who cooked it the sour level varies. Usually Restaurant Sinigangs are very sour unless its Guava Sinigang.
Taho: creamy dessert Adobo: dinner or lunch Sinigang: soup Kare-kare: stew fish Pinoy snacks: good tasty creamy Pancit canton: dinner or lunch Jollibee (restanrant): FAMOUS RESTANRANT Thats all! Ty for reading my comment! Hope that helps you guys a lot! :)
Well Jollibee most of the time is just for comfort food and I agree with you it's kinda overhype on socials. The taste and how it's cooked can be a hit or miss since it's fast food. You should try the other flavors of Pancit Canton which is for me the best comfort food.
Hey Ant just wanna say as a fan and a part of the Filipino community we are grateful that you liked our cuisine🎉🎉 and the time and effort you put for this content have a nice day Ant!
the "beef" with adobo and sinigang is [in my opinion] because of the origins of the two dishes! adobo is from spain/mexico and has spanish/mexican influence, and sinigang is technically "pure" filipino, and both dishes are staple foods in the Philippines that's served for dinner regularly:)
I'd say adobo is also pure filipino as well, in the sense that it was a food preservation technique used in precolonial times. The connection to Spain/Mexico is more with the name, since it comes from the spanish "adobar" or to marinate. Both are still good tho
Adobo IS filipino, only the name is spanish! Afaik, adobo has almost no spanish influence. The addition of soy sauce is actually a chinese influence. Adobong puti is closer to the original adobo.
man i miss taho, we literally ate it everyday on the streets as a child in the 90s, now its gone even in our hometown in the PH. no one is peddling it anymore. i miss the 90s and early 2000s.
If you’re ever craving the instant pancit canton again, you can definitely find them at your local asian grocery store (or even seafood city if you’re near one!) back home in the states!
The reason why everyone hypes up jolibee in philippines is cus most filipino kids/adults barely have time or the chance or the money to go and we always eat food that we probably don’t like, like vegetables :
YEAHH FR! and also since jollibee is practically kind of the only known restaurant throughout the wholeworld that comes from the philippines (i think?)
While I love Sinigang and Kare kare, i think theyre not the best food as an introduction to Filipino cuisine bcs they have overpowering flavors. Sinigang is too sour while the peanut flavor of Kare kare is best paired with bagoong (a shrimp paste) which are both acquired tastes. Surprised you liked the Calamansi noodles tho bcs it's sour too! Maybe try their Chilimansi flavor if you can, it's the calamansi flavor but with chili! Great vid btw!! ❤
As a filipino, i also dont think that jollibee is the best fastfood or best chicken, but i still prefer it. I think what makes jollibee very close to us is the nostalgia and memories it brings. I think jollibee’s foods taste more homey rather than having extravagance.
I’ve tried jollibee it was disgusting i live in the uk I don’t if it taste good in other countries i remember the burger tasting old and the chips were stale
Hope you get to try Sisig (pig mask dish), Dinuguan (blood stew) and Tapsilog (a Filipino breakfast meal) next time you visit here or even at a Filipino restaurant you can visit there! Thank you for the honesty in your reviews, i really enjoyed watching this vlog! 💜
Korean who used to live in the Philippines here. For me, sinigang is a "you have to get used to it" dish in order to love it. I've first was icked by it at first, but I slowly appreciated it's sourness. Now in South Korea and now New York, I've come to miss sinigang.
For Halo-halo, I will suggest Bebang's Halo-halo. Our visitors from Seattle really liked it. It's not the typical halo-halo that they ate before as they are using shaved milk, instead of ice. But since you mentioned that you're lactose intolerant, I'm just not sure if you will enjoy it.
Lets all just enjoy the amazing video he did for us, i am sure he did his best to make us enjoy his content and showing us how good he is in entertaining us, keep up the good work ant👍
Not everything is better where it is originally from. Jollibee branches in PH suffered from massive shrinkflation so now most of their food became smaller compared to how they were several years ago. Some might say the food quality also went down. Take the chicken joy for example, it used to have a crunchy skin and juicy meat inside but now it is soggy and dry.
ant you made me get up in bed at 11pm to cook pancit canton 😂 Glad you enjoyed some of the filipino food you tried! As for jollibee chicken it's almost like gacha tbh; sometimes you get the juicy huge part but sometimes you get a sad leg part lol
I think that sinigang na baboy(pork) or sinigang na tilapia(fish) is more better to taste than sinigang na hipon(shrimp) but I loved that you tried the famous cuisine of the Philippines!! 🇵🇭
I just wanna say, when Ant was talking to the lady guard about where to find taho, she probably didn't think you were crazy. Probably just conyo (aka someone who speaks primarily English) LMAO it is not an uncommon sight
The reason why Filipinos hype Jollibee is because of the nostalgia it brings. Most of us grew up with Jollibee. For me personally, Jollibee is like a reward or comfort food at the end of a stressful day. When I was a child, my aunt would make sure to drop by jollibee and buy me a burger or spaghetti before she would go home from work. It's usually a pasalubong or a special treat for us on those special days. Until now, when I feel like I need to reward myself, I would buy me some one piece spicy chicken with spaghetti. Ow when I am sick, I will a jolly hotdog and pineapple juice delivered to my door step. It's not really the taste that makes us love Jollibee, but the memory of comfort that it brings.

Also those snacks he had were mostly originating from foreign foods and they're still so proud of it
Basically when ant tried the pancit cantón he said it was a bit “citrusy” and that’s maybe bc he got the calamsi flavor which is my fav
I love this kind of content from you defo need to do more
As a Malaysian, I love the Filipino culture so much, my love for it developed since i was young so i feel very happy to see ant visiting filipino to try their dishes!!
i don't think a real malaysian will going to say something like this
@@MTC008why not
@@syirrrai17 because it's a foreign thing and itbis being discussed mainly by someone who is also foreigner, and malaysia is not involved so why taking part of the topic if not related??
@@MTC008 Same. Most of the time other SEA countries insult PH.
@@alvinsmith3894 sometime most of them does but not all, it is out of place why does a malaysian would just go and comment into video about a country that is about others and has nothing to do with their own country??
hey ant, i can tell that you guys really did your research before doing this video, and its not just some simple mukbang video like most people do. makes us filipinos feel that our culture is appreciated. thank you
9:02
Calamansi? Never heard of it.
😂💀
As a filipino thank for visiting our country and i hope you enjoyed it
Yup, there's always the debate between Adobo and Sinigang on which one should be the national dish.
I love the fact you flew 7292 just to eat sinigang and jollie bee HUGE RESPECT
Cause I never wake up on time 😭😭😭
It's also Blueberry Taho in Tagaytay City and Baguio.
Love this kind of video!! i hope u keep doin these
Bro really usee a fork with the jollybee chiken😢 12:16
It seems the quality & standard are not as it used to be. But, the native sweets that are made of glutinous rice, is something to experience. There are plenty of unusual fruits & seafood, also dishes made with coconut. There's a variety of snacks made of corn and dried seafood as well. The best biscuits are Sunflower & Skyflakes, durian candies that you can't get anywhere easily, try that in Cubao shopping center. You haven't or weren't able to get through it properly, otherwise, there are so many foods out there that are really good & shouldn't miss to try.
As a fillipino thanks for visiting Our country 😊
(Ako ay filipino at maraming salamat pag visit sa bansa namin)
I am also Philippines
Ako din
Me to
We can all agree that antonychenn never disappoints us with this content
Real
He didnt mix the halo-halo😢
As a Filipino I don't really care whether the national dish is adobo or sinigang, they're both so good on their own
0:10 wait until he hears about going to the other direction
As a Filipino, Big WINNNN, Hope you enjoyed it 🎉 and Thank you for visiting! 😊
Thanks again for dropping by to PH Ant~~ hope you enjoyed the food and your stay here
lmao kare-kare IS A WHOLE NEW DISH with bagoong!! the nutty flavor of kare-kare would be balanced with the saltiness of bagoong.. i usually put half a spoon on my rice so i can just mix it with the kare kare... the two usually go together 😊
Wow❤ thanks for coming here last time and for trying our food here.
The way he cooked that Pancit Canton in a random tub😭😭 so cute lol
Really loved this video! So glad you tried everything and were honest about it. (I really love sinigang though, rip, but glad you discovered the greatness that is pancit canton.)
You can get a lot of the stuff from this video back in the USA as well in Filipino markets and neighborhoods.
Taho: creamy dessert
Adobo: dinner or lunch
Sinigang: soup
Kare-kare: stew fish
Pinoy snacks: good tasty creamy
Pancit canton: dinner or lunch
Jollibee (restanrant): FAMOUS RESTANRANT
Thats all! Ty for reading my comment!
Hope that helps you guys a lot! :)
He literally travel around the world to try foods for us
Well Jollibee most of the time is just for comfort food and I agree with you it's kinda overhype on socials. The taste and how it's cooked can be a hit or miss since it's fast food. You should try the other flavors of Pancit Canton which is for me the best comfort food.
Hey Ant just wanna say as a fan and a part of the Filipino community we are grateful that you liked our cuisine🎉🎉 and the time and effort you put for this content have a nice day Ant!
woo! 🇵🇭
the "beef" with adobo and sinigang is [in my opinion] because of the origins of the two dishes! adobo is from spain/mexico and has spanish/mexican influence, and sinigang is technically "pure" filipino, and both dishes are staple foods in the Philippines that's served for dinner regularly:)
As a non philo, this is so interesting :0 I never knew about this
thank you for trying our food as a filipino we support youtubers trying our food i hope you loved it
man i miss taho, we literally ate it everyday on the streets as a child in the 90s, now its gone even in our hometown in the PH. no one is peddling it anymore. i miss the 90s and early 2000s.
If you’re ever craving the instant pancit canton again, you can definitely find them at your local asian grocery store (or even seafood city if you’re near one!) back home in the states!
lets just appreciate how anthony travel across the world just to entertaint us
The reason why everyone hypes up jolibee in philippines is cus most filipino kids/adults barely have time or the chance or the money to go and we always eat food that we probably don’t like, like vegetables :
YEAHH FR! and also since jollibee is practically kind of the only known restaurant throughout the wholeworld that comes from the philippines (i think?)
Kalamasnsi is a lime bro taho is my favorite fpod and itlong is a good food 🍲but it's a good thing to do with a food
man really used the ice bucket to make the noodles 💀 but anyways great video, I’ve never been to the philippines but this might convince me to come!
as a Filipina I’m proud that ant went to the Philippines 😭❤️
While I love Sinigang and Kare kare, i think theyre not the best food as an introduction to Filipino cuisine bcs they have overpowering flavors.
Sinigang is too sour while the peanut flavor of Kare kare is best paired with bagoong (a shrimp paste) which are both acquired tastes.
Surprised you liked the Calamansi noodles tho bcs it's sour too! Maybe try their Chilimansi flavor if you can, it's the calamansi flavor but with chili! Great vid btw!! ❤
you really did your research about the dishes, as a filipino im so proud of u!
your way of entertaining people is on another level!! Kudos!!
As a filipino, i also dont think that jollibee is the best fastfood or best chicken, but i still prefer it. I think what makes jollibee very close to us is the nostalgia and memories it brings. I think jollibee’s foods taste more homey rather than having extravagance.
True, everyone probably hyped it up because we've been eating Jollibee since we were kids
@@reyd3889Most Filipinos who replied were obviously young people, and what restaurant did they grow up with? Jollibee.

PUKU PUKU POW POWW
NEO GOT MY BACK‼️🙏
first time watching you and I like your vids so I subbed :D
thank you for visiting the Philippines. You're always welcome here in the Philippines and we look forward for you to come back here ❤🥰
I'm so happy that ant got some of the names of the food right, I'm loving this. We'll hope to see you again in the Philippines!
We definitely hope you enjoyed your stay in the Philippines!!! Mabuhay!!
As a Filipina I love seeing ant loving our Filipino dishes💗💗
Korean who used to live in the Philippines here.
For me, sinigang is a "you have to get used to it" dish in order to love it. I've first was icked by it at first, but I slowly appreciated it's sourness. Now in South Korea and now New York, I've come to miss sinigang.
For Halo-halo, I will suggest Bebang's Halo-halo. Our visitors from Seattle really liked it. It's not the typical halo-halo that they ate before as they are using shaved milk, instead of ice. But since you mentioned that you're lactose intolerant, I'm just not sure if you will enjoy it.
As a Filipino, this just amused me so much😭😭😭
YESSIR ANT EATING FOOD IS BACK!!
Lets all just enjoy the amazing video he did for us, i am sure he did his best to make us enjoy his content and showing us how good he is in entertaining us, keep up the good work ant👍
7:15 as a filipino hearing you say pancit canton like that my face go🤯😱😭 like it sounded so wrong😭
Not everything is better where it is originally from. Jollibee branches in PH suffered from massive shrinkflation so now most of their food became smaller compared to how they were several years ago. Some might say the food quality also went down. Take the chicken joy for example, it used to have a crunchy skin and juicy meat inside but now it is soggy and dry.
the way Anthony did all this to make us entertained
ant you made me get up in bed at 11pm to cook pancit canton 😂 Glad you enjoyed some of the filipino food you tried!
I DIED WHEN HE MIXED THE PANCIT CANTON WRONGLY WHAT 😭😭😭
my inner filipina is crying
Just watched this, and my immediate thought was "Antony NEEDS to try Taho" and a few minutes in, its the first food he wanted to try. I screamed.
Thank you for likeing to my countrys food❤❤
He never fail to entertain us 😌❤️
I just wanna say, when Ant was talking to the lady guard about where to find taho, she probably didn't think you were crazy.
You litterally needed to mix the taho before eating it bro 🤣😂😭
Anthony: The spagetti is too sweet to my liking
Also Anthony: Like I said earlier, I am a huge fan of sweet things
(This is a joke)
