Hello I know the Chinese in this video is scuffed but hopefully you can still have some fun watching it LOL Editor and I spent many (many) months getting everything ready for this video so please do enjoy 🥹❤ Happy new years!
i was watching this with my parents and they said "他的中文确实很好" (he's actually really good at chinese!) so stop doubting your chinese! glad you could visit us (shanghai)! happy new years ant! 🎉
Congrats Ant, you caught another attention of a Chinese here (Malaysian born Chinese) and I can highly relate to you not being good at Chinese and just like you, even I'm trying to learn more Chinese (I'm cursing and swearing as im learning Chinese right now because I swear it's so hard for me to learn a language that i lack exposure to...). I grew up in a heavy English speaking environment in the family and as well as Malay speaking environment in school so my chances of speaking Chinese there were slim to none at all... Sad honestly but I'm being VERY slow in trying to pick my Chinese up and for now, I can understand only a little of what you said here (if it's not for the subtitles, I'll be looking at your video like a dumbass basically lmao😂). New sub btw~
fellow malaysian chinese here, gl studying chinese!! curse words in Chinese are always the first thing we learn when encountering a new language lmao XD
@@kaaaathy yesssss Ikr? 🤣 But I'm trying to improve omg... Being a student in a VERY Chinese uni is hard AF (iykyk which uni in M'sia I'm talking bout)
bro i’m a mainlander/hong konger and i feel you ToT my mother tongue is mandarin but now i go to an international school so my mandarin skills dropped so much. chinese is definitely a really hard language, except the swear words (they’re all i can remember when i learn a new language) good luck in studying chinese and have fun !!
If you are confused as to why Genshin things are in malls, hoyoverse is a Chinese company, fans in china are dedicated like renting a whole mall for furina birthday 🤠
YOOO THAT BARBER DID👏YOU👏RIGHT👏!!! You look amazing with your new haircut and I don’t speak Chinese but my cousins live in China so they tell me some things but their English is great! Personally I think your Chinese was still really good, learning a language is really hard. Happy new year and chirstmas eve Antony!
中国欢迎你💕! im Chinese and is been 8 years that i left china and when I saw Shanghai in ur videos I was so excited and so confused bc Shanghai changed a lot and tbh Shanghai have the most expensive price so uh- I wasn’t confused when I saw the prices but still I miss china and I love when you speak Chinese! ur Chinese is very good tho! ( and I saw the hair cut video in Chinese TikTok lol)
I have been learning Chinese for a year now and because you speak at a nice pace, I could understand a lot of what you said without looking at the subtitles. please make more! it was very helpful and enjoyable :>
thanks ant for making this i love watching you do these vlogs esp when you speak in chinese, please do more in the future! also 13:13 actually character in that context is 人物 , 特点 means character trait !
Tbh at this point bros editor is roasting him More than anyone ,but anyway love ur vids and 欢迎来到中国,because 北京and上海 is the place where most tourist go and kinda the central the pricing will be higher than other places . Hope you enjoyed your trip to china!!!!
Haha you went to Shanghai!! Last time I went, I jokingly told my friend it’s “my own personal hell” because there’s _so_ much merch for anime fans and it’s hard to get yourself to stop spending money. 😂 Personally I’m actually more into Chinese donghua now, but Shanghai was also a great hell for that because there was _actually_ merch for donghua in physical shops-because donghua merch would be rare in other countries-and there were so many different pieces of merch of many different series, which meant I had so so many temptations! Couldn’t stop buying stuff ahaha. Glad to see you guys also having fun and hope it was a nice trip. ^^
10:25 Realest hair stylist I've ever seen 15:00 For some reason, hearing Ant like this is funny in Chinese The Chinese may be scuffed, but it's honestly about all I can understand too lmao so I definitely relate.
yay!! Welcome to China!! I actually went to Beijing and Shanghai in Oct. this year too. To be honest, your chinese is pretty good. I think it's the middle section: @13:34 that got harder to understand... 😵💫 And google translating for 'character' is horrible... it was supposed to be: ‘人物’
i REALLY love and enjoy watching your vlogs they’re so refreshing esp the ones when you speak in chinese, it actually motivates me into learning the language!! thank you sooo much for the efforts you put for the channel, we appreciate it ❤
These Chinese-speaking challenges are pure gold! 蚂蚁哥, you made it all feel so natural and entertaining without missing a beat. Only you could make language struggles look this funny and impressive-had me laughing nonstop 😭🙏🏻 Can’t get enough of this, it’s honestly such a vibe, hope you keep it coming
hello ant! i really enjoyed this vlog, and i can see that they have improved a lot! i’m currently learning chinese so understand some of this was really uplifting and it makes me wanna continue my studies so THANK YOU!!
i’m also studying chinese right now! i actually watched the first only speaking in chinese video back when i just started and i didn’t understand anything, but now i feel like i can keep up with what you’re saying!! it’s nice to feel like i have sort of a study partner lol. thank you 蚂蚁哥 🥺🐜
omg i can understand most of the chinese you said in this video 😭 i remember back then when you did your first chinese speaking video i still have to see the subtitles 😭😭😭😭 my hard work paid off
I also live in beijing and Im so happy you decided to visit! I think one reason why everything is so expensive is because you’re prob living in like 1-3 “circle” of Beijing. Beijing is basically split into like multiple circles with the ones closest to downtown(1-3) being the most expensive. If you go out into the suburbs (4-5) everything is wayyy cheaper, like im not even kidding. Stuff thats like 20 quai (like $2.5-ish) in 4-5 circle is like 100+ quai ($15-ish) in downtown.
hey ant! just wanted to say, thanks for posting this video! As someone who was born into a Chinese family but basically raised all American with no Chinese school, ur Chinese is way better than mine lol (altho ig that doesnt say much 💀) thanks for giving me a good laugh, some Chinese practice, and inspiration to relearn my first language ❤
ill have to say, after watching your videos for so long, this has to be my favourite one in all three of your channnels !! alongside the elementary skl one in taiwan ofc :) ITS SO FUN TO WATCH THESE TYPESOF VIDEOS HEHE and im pretty sure that it might be overwhelming for u, but im also sure that by the end of it u were proud of ur self and it def felt nice speaking chineseeee lol
fun fact hangyodon in chinese is actually 丑鱼 (ugly fish) also i relate to this so much lmfao as an international student i usually give up halfway through my sentence and speak in english
After watching tons of cdramas, I can now differentiate the tone of a person who grew up (and practiced for that matter lol) in speaking Chinese/Mandarin to a person who is not like Ant. Not an expert but I do catch some tones for each characters that are straight and stiff compared to dramas, were it was fluid and flowing lol But nonetheless, it's really a feat speaking in straight Chinese/Mandarin for 7 days! Next challenge, do it for a month lol
It would've been crazy if I just saw you on the streets of Shanghai when you were here; however, given the size of the city... yeah the chances weren't that high anyway either way, your Chinese really isn't bad, being wholly legible and the pronunciation being mostly correct. The only thing I really see you struggling with is finding the right words to say, which is a problem that even us native speakers face at times🙃. I'm glad you enjoyed Shanghai, and it'd be great if you visited more often!
I'm sobbing speaking Chinese is my nightmare😭 I cried once when I did a Chinese speech because I was so nervous and forgot my Chinese lines, but as much I hate it, I'm forced to say it everyday as my mom is Chinese😞but I'm improving! You can also improve as much if you practice just a lil more!
This was so fun to watch as an abc who grew up speaking mandarin at home but English at school haha. Also at 13:15 I think you wanted to say 角色 (jué sè not jiǎo sè, i know it’s kinda strange lol) cause 特点 means character as in like a special quality that something has haha.
Next up speaking in Chinese for 11 years....😏 I went to china to see my grandparents in a long time......I'll explain china in one word...AMAZING!!!!! HAPPY NEW YEAR EVERYONE 🎉🎉🎉
6:56 90 degree Celsius is crazy 🤣🔥🔥 Btw. the editor is really cooking at 8:43 ,thanks man👍 14:21 made me laugh do hard as someone who understands mandarin 😂
Your accent is very good and you are fluent in Chinese! just some small thinking patterns like "最后一天在北京(the last day in Beijing)" sound unnatural, it has a problem in word orders, instead we say "在北京的最后一天”
love the vlog!! i thought you were really bad at speaking Chinese and already ready to laugh but, you did great at least to my ears haha. Is it safe to travel to Beijing or anywhere in China alone? Also, love the hair cut you got here! You should try it again~
This was so cool! I started learning Chinese a couple months ago (via Duolingo and HelloChinese) and my white ass is still worse than toddler level LMAO. My long term goal is to visit China in 5 years and hopefully find my way around with as little English as possible. And as a New Year’s resolution I’m hoping to be able to at least watch/understand C-dramas without subtitles by this time next year.
