    I'm a police officer and I took an oath to uphold and defend the constitution, not politicians. I will NOT assist the federal government, or ANY government agency, including the agency I work for, with violating the constitutional rights of US citizens. When I took the oath, I took it seriously. I haven't violated it at any point throughout my entire 30 year career and I will NOT violate it now, for anyone...period!

      @equine2020 To be honest, I don't have the answer for you. I can only be responsible for myself, which includes coaching younger officers of the oath they took as well. Wouldn't be the first time I've called out younger officers if I saw one of them getting out of line or disrespecting a citizen unnecessarily. I take the approach of mentoring them, hoping that when I retire, they'll remember the "lessons" I taught them. Sure, meet aggression with aggression, but don't be the one that escalated it. Deescalation works most (but not all) of the time.
      I try to set the example, but my lessons only apply to the officers I've worked with or continue to work with. I work for a large agency, and still see officers in my department who I've never met before in 30 years. So needless to say, I've never met 99.999% of the people who were police officers all across the US during my 30 years. So I have no influence on them at all. I can only try to influence those I work with by setting an example of what enforcing the law within the boundaries of the constitution looks like.

    As a retired police officer I can tell you from a logistics standpoint there is no way to collect 330 million firearms. There are roughly 780,000 police officers in the US and 1.3 million military members. Even if 10% of the population said no and fought back against the government, it would last 1 day if they went door to door. When I worked LAPD in the 90’s one patrol division was lucky that they took 100-150 guns off the street a month. Do the math it’s impossible and it will never happen. People will fight back against it with deadly force. Count on it!

    I guarantee you that the vast majority of police officers would say, “Oh hell no! Are you crazy?” after being told to go door to door and confiscate firearms from citizens. They value their lives more than their paychecks or pensions.

    In the interest of safety, if a mass confiscation is ever attempted, do the right thing. Make sure your firearm and all magazines are completely unloaded before offering it to the nice federal agent.

    Recently had 38 firearms, ammunition, magazines, and receipts confiscated from my home. I was involved in a shootout with three robbers that was holding my 15 year old up at gun point. One of the robbers shot and killed a 16 year old in the process. I thought it was my son and I engaged in a shootout. I shot one of the robbers and damaged the getaway vehicle. After turning over the firearm used and turning myself in for questioning, officers came in with a warrant to confiscate everything out of my safes. This happened in Maryland

    I was in Law Enf for 15 years in the 90s/2000s. IF they enacted such a policy, I would've turned in my badge or made them fire me. In the 90s, I swore in front of the local judge to uphold the state and federal constitution. There is NO SUCH MECHANISM to have government agents to successfully and peacefully confiscate firearms in the U.S. (even if unconstitutional under a liberal regime).

    I was arrested back in June for collecting petition signatures in a public park. Charges were thrown out immediately, but while I was being arrested (and having my civil rights violated by police) I asked the cops if they would go door-to-door rounding up guns. They said, yes, if they were given an order signed by a judge, they would do so. So, all you need in Washington is to find one liberal judge who wants to confiscate guns, and the cops will "just follow orders" and violate their oaths of office "to preserve, protect and defend the Constitution." Cops need better training on the Bill of Rights. And Oath Keepers needs to do more education as well.

      Notice how one can be born THEN enter a state of society? the bill of rights only applies to people; men and women. the word "person" is defined as a "corporation", when you are a member of society, i.e. person, individual, us citizen, driver, etc etc etc, it is the avatar that exists in society, avatars have privileges because only real people can have natural rights. technically, we have no constitutional rights--that's why judges often get pissed off at defendants (think fictitious entities) claiming to have constitutional rights because the constitution merely AFFIRMS natural rights, whatever "constitutional" rights there are have been statutized into privileges for the avatar. Constitutional rights that people think exist don't actually exist .
      When a baby is born, the bankrupt US Govt creates a corporation using the baby's name in all capital letters. it then uses the corporation as collateral to get a loan from the (private front company) federal reserve represented as federal reserve notes "dollars". People are the sureties for the "US citizen" corporation. Debt is transferred to people this way, "attorn" means "transfer", police are revenue enforcers of the bankruptcy. This is the legal framework of our ensalvement since 1933. we went from the gold standard to the private faith and credit/future performance of the american people bound to a fictitious entity that is stock in a company, that's why she called Neo coppertop, our energy is being stolen.
      "The validity of the public debt of the United States...shall not be questioned."
      14th Amendment to the U.S. Constitution, Section 4. Everything in this country has been “hypothecated” meaning everything in this country has been put up for collateral against the debt without the creditor (via the federal reserve front organization ) taking actual possession.
      also, cops aren't taught they are trained. when cops ask you something, ask them if they are making a request or demand. if a request, you can deny the request, if they are making a demand, there is a statute that gives the officer the authority to make such a demand. every crime is a commercial crime since it has value for the gov. court officers collude to obtain the conviction. debt is transferred. municipal bonds are issued backed by the defendant who's surety is a man or woman. future performance / slave. rights mean nothing unless you assert them.
      when the gov defaults then the creditors will be after the stock [corporations/persons], people will be placed in camps as sureties, it's called a hostile takeover
      If a cop says you're under arrest and asks you to place your hands behind your back and you do , you are consenting to the arrest. Remaining silent is to prevent disclosing incriminating evidence , rights mean nothing unless you assert them and you can unknowingly waive them through your actions including REMAINING SILENT.

      Virginia was planning to ban/confiscate/buy back so-called "assault weapons" a few years ago. The Bill had the usual carve-out exception for LEO to keep whatever they had. This led to at least one sheriff promising to deputize every firearms owner in his county. As Deputies, their firearms would be safe.

    Actual confiscation, no. But what about punishing gun owners through other means? Taxes, leans on our property, lawsuits galore, etc. They'll definitely use the ATF to do an official registry. Maybe they'll make that registry public so concerned citizens can find out who their "dangerous and unhinged" gun-owning neighbors are. It would be very difficult for them to take the actual guns, but making you regret owning those guns unless you comply with the law through legal harassment and other means? That is the actual real threat.

      Yeah- "mandatory buyback" would specifically be confiscation, just with some pretense of compensation attached (as an aside, several aussie friends tell me 'nobody' turned in their guns -no doubt that only goes as far as their acquaintances and maybe some of those people's acquaintances, plus some rumors; but from the few numbers I've seen as well, it looks like maybe 15-20% of just the guns the government already knew were out there got collected, and that sounds like they just declared a victory and left it at that.)
