    I am recording a video today with Dr. Jordan Feigenbaum about LOSING WEIGHT and gaining strength.
    Something I have not made a video about. If you have any specific questions for us please post them below.

      What should an overweight person who is new to training do first: Lose weight or gain strength?

    • @FinalBoy99
      @FinalBoy99 7 ปีที่แล้ว

      When should you be trying to build strength or lose weight and for how long?

    • @Richard-tj1yh
      @Richard-tj1yh 7 ปีที่แล้ว

      Lets assume I am doing 4 day split TM. If I am losing weight and getting stronger, but eventually not feel recovered for my next workout, would it be smart to give myself an extra day off? Should I move rest of the routine accordingly(taking into the account the rest day) or just keep it as it is?

      I've lost about 20lbs in about 3 months with just doing 5x5 and dieting somewhat correctly, consistently hitting my protein goal and then filling the rest with good carbs and fats. I havent hit any brick walls with my lifts as of yet. My question for you guys is how do i know that my body is burning the fat(or carbs) off and not say burning muscle tissue to fuel me. Do I just trust the process?

      I live in Austria and all good gyms are concentrated in Vienna, so I will move there as soon as I start my studies. I bought all the strongman stuff I needed and build up my own small gym, which is only a room but it is enough. I would love to open up a gym like Alan's myself, but I don't know if my country is ready for this ..

    Alan, I came across your channel because I have been working out since my days back in the Corps. Back then I was into a mix of bodybuilding and strength training. Then I met my new roommate lol when he checked in and he was a power lifter and our two man room was a mini gym and he quickly got me away from the bodybuilding and into powerlifting... he was a huge fan of the KAZ. Who at the time was the #1 Strongman competitor. Whom many years later I was fortunate enough to meet in his gym in Auburn Alabama. I retired many many years ago from the Corps. Now at my age I just work out to stay in shape. But coming across your channel, seeing the accomplishments in the Corps and with your gym is and your professionalism is a lot of fun to watch. Semper Fi Marine and continue to go forth and make great things happen. But of course make sure you do it UNTAAAAAAMMMMED.

    I'm new to the strength and powerlifting community. Currently on a program to lose weight and learn the sport of powerlifting. I'm in love with where it's brought me physically and mentally, and I wanna share it with people. I've seen your other videos and it's inspired me to do more with my life. I wanna open a powerlifting style gym here in the bay area. Of course, I still have a lot to learn and need to understand everything I'm getting into. My own fitness journey, how to run a business, learn more about the sport, nutrition, etc. So I wanna take time everyday for an entire year before I start executing business moves. Just to prepare, get all the right tips etc. I'm starting by inviting locals and friends to workout with me in my home gym for free. All while I still keep the current job and gain a following with my current setup. Still not sure if I'm moving in the right direction, but I sure am hella amped. Just wanna say, you've given me a new motivation to work even fucking harder. Maybe I'll drive up one day and possibly meet you and your team. Nonetheless, thank you for being a huge influence to the new community I'm diving into.

    I want to start my own facility and figured it would cost me around $300,000 and lots of convincing since a professor of mine said all you need is a solid business plan and to pitch it to a bunch of investors. He is kinda like the guy you said who alread had tons of money before he started his own few gyms.
    You've kinda opened my eyes a bit, because I never really considered just getting whatever equipment I can and start from my garage. I may want to re-think how to start, or at least on a much smaller scale and earn my gym rather than have a bank buy me one. Thanks Alan!

    These tips are applicable for ANY business owner. I'm a freelance writer and editor, with no physical storefront, and these all apply to me. Thankfully, I did emphasize free, instructional content from the beginning. But I did the same thing about delaying choosing a niche. My first business card said "copy editing, substantive editing, proofreading, freelance writing, content marketing, social media." Live and learn. :)

    this is a really good insight to starting a gym. ive just started my own gym which is mainly powerlifting with the odd rugby player ( im from wales uk) and i do have the odd strongman equipment from running my own iawa/usawa comps. you get dirty by just standing in my gym lol. so see how far you have come gives me incurragment but there again i dont wont a massive gym nor a commercial gym i just want a gym that gives back to the lifters. anyway love you vids they better than silent mike and mark bell anyday lol believe to achieve...
