Tip: If your using a plastic drum such as this, cut the lid off evenly and as close to the top as possible. Flip the lid over and it'll fit over the top perfectly snug with zero rainwater leak👍
I like it but the trouble with any gravity feed feeder is the corn will disappear really fast if you have a lot of animals coming in , it can get really expensive trying to keep corn in it , but with a modification to your pipe to limit the corn from coming out so easy and i think it would be awesome.
Ronnie Boardman Not to mention that a bear will tear the shit out of that thing if they're in the area. A hanging feeder with motor and timer are the only way to ensure an even feeding, and keeps bears out of it.
I would go broke filling that at least 3× a day. You must only have deer and meat eaters where you are at. I would be feeding mice, rat s, Chipmunks, squirrels, turkey, birds, geese, ducks, groundhog, hogs, the neighbors chickens, possum, beaver, muskrat, raccoon and if I filled it enough then maybe the deer would get some.
i like your design, however we have a crap-ton of hogs where I hunt. what are your thoughts on how to modify this design to keep hogs away and have only deer get to the corn?
no automatic motor (programmable) to empty the food ??? ... wtf ?, just add a solar panel, a 12 volt motor and a programmable timer (12 volts) .... and, me ... seriously, I would use a metal barrel, and the other animals do not do not pierce the plastic with their teeth
Terrible idea. The squirrels and raccoons and mice and every other animal will eat most of the corn that doesn’t spoil. Those short legs are a joke. This whole thing stinks. 1) The feeder need to be water proof. The lid is a joke 2) The feeder spout needs to be about 3 feet off of the ground. It needs to be designed so it won’t collect rainwater and make the corn spoil 3) the legs need to be smooth metal so the animals can’t climb them to get into the corn The commercially available feeders have a design that needs to be copied nearly exactly because they have already done the research that you’re lacking. I think you’d be better off spending the $20 on corn to pour on the ground

That is a good tip, I usually cut mine a few inches down in the straight part and then trim the lid flush and it fits that way as well

Dip. St. Tick
Thanks for the video. Now, to find the barrel.
food just comes right out there is no stop to slow it down from pouring all out. Needs modified
Diane Cupp once it piles up a little out the pipe it won’t continue to “flow” out
You can get those poly drums in a 30g removable top that are gasketed. That way, you have a water tight lid.. but they also come in blue an black.
RedPossum where at?
You can all build one put it on you tube and see what kind of comments you get. Since you are all engineers
I like this idea but I wish there was a better way for the lif
Racoon Heaven
Great idea, thanks for sharing....also love the "working" music
have you ever had problems with squirrels tearing up the barrel?
Car washers got those barrels
Looks great, I'll be looking in to that thank you!👍
Love it thanks for sharing!

Is it Hog proof ? 🐗🐗🐗🐗🐗
Just use a toilet flange on the bottom and you don't need to cut the top of the barrel off
Take leftover plastic and use as a funnel attach to the end with means the bottom so every peace gets out or cut the other end and get bigger funnel
Nice. Thanks for idea
I forgot the cost of saw
I like to see it filled with corn

pandomonium Put up hog panels, deer can jump them hogs won't more than likely
pandomonium shoot the hogs
T-posts and 39" hog panels. It's the ONLY way to keep the hogs out. Trust me. Our land is covered with hogs. After the panels....zero hog issues.
Hogs here would destroy that barrel first time at the sight!
Didn't he say deer feeder
Racoons would empty this in 2 nights where i hunt. lol
Looks like a smorgasbord for raccoons
Hogs will destroy that in 5 minutes.
Your lead in made me car sick.

Uhhh duh. Why would you need a motor on a gravity-fed feeder? Good grief...
Did you miss the whole “build it for $20” part?
Looks like someone failed math AND English class. Congratulations.
Antler Geeks clean cut that lid and flip it over.
Good vid👍
