  • Follow along in the first installment of our Star Wars Room Build while we frame up an 11x10' structure in the loft area 10' above our shop floor. In this episode we complete Layer 0, the basic room and first coat of paint, then move onto fabricating some Star Wars inspired cabinets, shelving and and ventilation fan box to fit into the story line of our droid lab on an aged rebel ship.
We extensively use our #axiomcnc AR16 #cncmachine as well as our ‪@LagunaTools‬ EX 150W CO2 laser along with ‪@vectric‬ V-Carve and ‪@lightburnsoftware7189‬ to design a lot of the panels and theatrical elements.
If you want to see this project complete, make sure you subscribe to the channel to see future episodes of our Star Wars room project plus other epic builds to come.

Very cool. Great point to consider power needs early on - it’s such a vital step and helps provide a much cleaner finished product.

I think the acrylic at the ends of the corner shelves was my fave detail, it just elevates the look overall. Great build!

I LOVE THIS! I'm redoing my home office and I want to use the cabinets the same way. But above them will be shelves for the helmets I'm going to print.

Sure wish I had seen this before I built my cabinet. Very nice job.

It's going to be fun following this room build. I would love to have an empty canvas such as this to work with!

    Fascinating project!
And a different setting in real life to many others.
One quibble.. the early brief postmortem type
image was a shock.. I would have preferred a trigger warning and optional time code to 'skip to '. Just saying!
Keen to see future aspects of your elevated room build. Super slick! 😃

A great start to your space. If you want a better backer than the paint behind your lights aluminum foil tape is cheap and faster than paint.

Hi Wayne. Thanks for the comment. Do you mean using the foil tape within the channel created in the shelf so its reflective? That would make sense and would create a reflective surface.

@@MakeEpicThings yes the area you painted white on the inside I normally will use aluminum tape. The normal use is for duct work.

Why Cinebench R23 hasn't got any other stupid room, indeed? I don't know. Namastè.

When are we gonna see episode 2?

    • @MakeEpicThings

To be honest its a bit up in the air. Things with our actual main business got incredibly busy, to the point that we have to significant renovate our current space or move to another. So this star wars themed room may end up getting torn out to make room for more productive things :-(

Uggghhhh. Im so sorry. I have been filming bits a pieces of it, but its been a super slow process due to running our main business. Its coming though!

Unfortunately yes. We tore that entire floating office (and all this star wars work) down. We doubled, and now are about to triple the size of our facility. So a major reno happened. Oh well, it was fun to build the first version of this!
