- This video is for actors who just moved to NYC or are thinking about attending Equity auditions as a non-union or EMC actor. There is so much to know on this topic and I just barely scratch the surface here. I wish someone had broken down some of these things for me when I started out, so hopefully this video will be useful for you! Please feel free to leave more info on this topic in the comments or ask any questions!
One very important topic I don't cover is warming up: Ripley Grier and Pearl studios usually have practice rooms to rent for cheap half hour spots, but when I'm at the Actor's Equity Building, I'm usually out in Times Square doing vocal warm ups. Luckily, that part of town is pretty used to the noise. 😂
Thank you Amber!!!
This was so helpful! I'd love to ask you more questions. Thanks for being you!
@@creativehours1315 feel free to send me a DM on IG and I’ll get back to you! @amberngatlin
Thanks, so much! I knew, in theory, that it was possible, but I really needed to hear from someone with first-hand knowledge. My imagination was pretty accurate, but now I’ll go with greater confidence of what to expect and I’ll bring a sheet of paper, some tape, and something to sit on. 🙂
@@DanielNortonActor So glad to hear it! The more you go, the more you’ll learn about what you need to feel prepared!
