The you yangs have great trails I don’t really have a fav but it’s great I love an hour away so it’s not to far. I love the downhill trails at mt Buller too they are fire and the length of them are great they work you out.
Yea Thanks for all the advice Phil. I've actually just bought a Merida One-Forty 600 as it was on sale for $2799. Thing is the only reason I went in was to replace a rim i had just totalled. This will be my first dually and I'm super excited for it to get shipped in so i can pick it up. Thanks and congrats of 5K!!
Thanks Phil for plugging the CCMTB club and ourimbah trails.. the club is currently putting in a huge amount of work to make some amazing changes for when racing resumes sometime latter in the year! Expect new trails, old ones brought back to life and extended jump line!
More than happy too mate, they do such a great job! Super keen to ride the new jump line, I need as much help jumping as I can get! They are really catering to everyone, which is awesome to see!
1. Maydena 2. Bright 3. Derby 4. Thredbo 5. Stromlo 6. Ourimbah / Awaba Looking forward to try Majura after your review as we always go Stromlo when heading towards Canberra. I am also looking forward to try Falls Creek, maybe after the winter 🤙
@@wastedtalentinc8007 Hey mate, there are plenty of trails around Sydney. My best suggestion for you would be to check out Trail Forks website or download their app. If you look at the content on my TH-cam channel you will find videos from some of the most popular trails in Sydney. Once you have an idea where you wanna ride just type the trail name into the Trail Forks to find its location 🤙
I recently bought an Ebike for work commuting but I'd love to buy just a normal decent brand mountain pushy to go down some trails one day. and have a new sub mate!
Awesome vid. Subscribed. Please keep making regular videos! I'm based in southwestern Sydney and I ride Mill Creek, Wylde, Oaks fire trail, Welby, Kentlyn, Heathcote/Loftus. I've been to Derby, Maydena, Vic High Country (Falls/Mt Beauty/Bright), Queenstown, Rotorua, Stromlo. It's so hard to pick a fav destination
Some great info! Last time I went to Majura, I swore I would never go again...but clearly I was riding the wrong trails! Will check out Ourimbah for sure.
Have you ever been over to perth because the kalamunda circuit and margrate river trails are so great and so much fun to ride and a great mix of tech flow and jump lines
Hi, will be visiting Sydney around April this year and want to explore few trails around.. And wanted your recommendations on the nearby trails, bike rental and how to reach the trail head using public transport (if allowed). Thanks
coming in late for some 2024 contrast: I would say now its oxy/cascades/bare creek (same kind of spot), then thredbo, then narooma, then ourimbah for NSW
Well aware of the project, patiently waiting! With the fire, covid and crowd funding it's been a tough run for them. Hopefully once we are out off all this they can make something great.
I slipped my peddles and crashed at the bottom of the bk express ramp at ourimbah last week and broke my wrist, be safe out there guys, I miss riding already
Maydena bike park tassie would have to be it for me, and only because I can’t comment on derby as I broke 5 ribs on the first run there down ‘air ya garn’ when there in January.
I've been to Maydena too, unfortunately the conditions were horrible so I didnt have as much fun as derby. The soil has a fair bit more clay so there was no traction. Will have to go during summer! Ouch! how are the ribs now? Broken ribs are the worst! Just have to suffer until they get better.
Hey! Thought I'd comment because I've been binge-watching your channelnd still never commented. Just researching before getting a bike. I'm torn between getting a hard tail (happier with the cost) or wanting all the best things in a dual suspension. realistically I'm only going to do green trails slowly so I don't want to buy things i won't see benefits from.
Thanks Rahul! I dont do any too special. I use a gopro hero 7 black for my pov. 4k 30fps mounted on the chinbar with a wind slayer. Other setting include iso 100-400, auto white balance and shutter and go pro colour. For the studio I use a Sony A6400 with a boya lavalier microphone. I love this setup. Super simple. Then I just use one studio light.
Hey mate literaly started riding last week. I bought a merida big9 in 2014 went on 3 rides then parked it. I'm now a local to garigal national park what would be your tips for local trails and possibly a decent dualy as an upgrade
Awesome to see you get back into it. The easiest trails to get back into it are Manly Dam then Serrata and once you feel comfortable try Ghania. After that Mt Narra is the best for progression. If you download the Trail Forks app you will be able to find all these. In terms of bikes, a 120-140mm trail bike is perfect. Something like the Marin Rift Zone, Polygon Siskiu T or Trek Fuel would be good options.
@@trailtalkmtb6603 Thanks mate. Could i just ask do you pedal that bike much or just focus on the downs? Would love the extra squish on my new bike but unfortunately spend alot of time climbing.
@@bwatt286 I pedal purely for the downs. That's why I would reccomend a 130-140mm bike for a bit more versatility on Aussie trails unless you plan to just focus on the downs
Thanks for your vids man. I only recently got into mtb since we got hit with covid. Been looking at bikes to buy, what do you recommend in Australia for a beginner under $1000. I have been checking out giant talon 2. Really looking at hardtails and not dual suspension. Also thought I'd ask, did you ever give away that merida big nine Ltd. Can I enter to win 😁😁
Thanks for tuning in man. Nope I still have the bike, I'm not really affiliated with Merida, so I might try and see if I can organise a dual-suspension down the line. For a hardtail the marin bobcat trail would be a good option at that price, otherwise a vitus sentier but that is delivered from the UK
This isn't a trail but it's a track full of jumps and stuff it's in Maryborough Queensland it's right near the aldridge school I went there today and it's a thrill
All these trails are ride-able on a 130-140mm bike. Ourimbah would probably be the hardest due to its higher speeds but if you are riding within your means it shouldn't be an issue :)
I can’t imagine you’d have any problems at ourimbah on a 130mm bike as long as you keep your expectations in check. I’ve ridden a few of the ‘dh’ trails there on my xc hardtail and while it wasn’t very comfortable or fast, it was definitely doable
Yeah first comment woo! Also, I was wondering if you think you could give me some advice as I'm looking to get the marine rift zone 1 on bicycles online but the Marin alpine trail 7 is only 300 dollars more and has better components for a good price, do you think I should spend a bit more?
Tristan_MTB I think it depends, will you use the extra travel or not. In my opinion only buy the alpine trail if you need the extra travel. Also if you buy the rift zone the $400 could be put to upgrades.
Tristan_MTB Yea! Then i think it’s worth the money if you will use the travel. They also have a very similar spec so you will not miss out on anything.
Dude I'm so torn between the Norco Sight A3 and Trek Fuel EX 7; Norco has awesome geometry and felt great to ride in the car park but I'm suss on the rear shock issue for heavy riders (had to set sag to like 10% to avoid bottom out... from bunny hopping) and the spec isn't great (SX lol? last years Fluid fs 3 had NX...). The A2 colour is a deal breaker. Trek is better spec'ed (NX), looks way prettier but not as aggressive geometry and I want a long bike with long reach/steep STA (I'm about 192cm). Plus I could probs upgrade to EX 8 for not a lot more. I know there's no easy answer here I just felt like having a winge.
As good as the geo and value is on the Norco's this year, its just not made for bigger riders, unfortunately. It also depends on your riding. If you are just doing trails the Fuel is great and a pretty capable bike. It will do most trails in Aus with ease. You really want something around 500mm of reach at your height.
What's the best trail you have ever ridden?
Derby Flickity sticks. I only live one hour away from Derby!!
Awesome trail! Love that one, super jealous you live so close!
The you yangs have great trails I don’t really have a fav but it’s great I love an hour away so it’s not to far. I love the downhill trails at mt Buller too they are fire and the length of them are great they work you out.
Maydena (TAS) is great fun. It’s gravity focused however, which may not be to everyone’s liking.
Downhill 2 in Newcastle, short and simple unsanctioned trail but the flow and variety is unreal with awesome progressive jumps!
definitely going to check out Ourimbah sometime soon
Ourimbah is pretty sick, keep shredding
Totally agree with you about mt Narra it’s a great place to progress and has some great quality trails
They've done such a great job there! The Gorillas are absolute legends!
