    I like that the cult aren’t malevolent. The people there seem kind and genuinely seem to care about Justin and Aaron. I feel like they easily could’ve made them evil or at least assholes, but they weren’t, and that’s one of the things that makes this movie stand out and one of the reasons I love it.
    I also really like how they tied it together with ‘Resolution’ in a way that actually made both movies make a bit more sense. It wasn’t just a cheap “remember this? Well now it’s important” but an _actual connection._ Honestly, these guys are just awesome!

      Disagree. They withheld the truth of the loop and waiting for them to be trapped and the fact that Cthulhu lured them. Only Tim unlocking the door near the end wanted to tell them, but was kept from doing so by the others (implied from the inaudible discussion with Hal). Of course by then Aaron and Justin knew already it was a loop, what they only realized at that point was that Cthulu lured them there. And that it done this for previous generations of the loop. At least some of the group knew.

      It's hard to describe..it was also mixed with mescaline in form of a tea. It took 2-3h to start and it was almost unnoticeable, started with initial confusion and drunken-like state, after that cotton-mouth. It switched through several phases but a couple of things were constant, for example, it all felt like a dream but you couldn't wake up, the hallucinations were stronger than 4 drops of liquid acid, strong existential meta innuendos, feeling that effect and cause switched chronological order. Vivid visions with huge time distortions, 15 min seemed like few hundred life times of being reborn and dying again even feeling the decomposition. After that my friends faces were started morphin into some very weird liquidy shapes, then came the feeling of paranoia and distrust ,because i was slowly losing memory, long and short term, until i was ''reseting'' like that guy in a loop for a good hour or two ( friends told me I was asking '' where am i?'' almost every 5 min). I slightly remember that i thought i'm either gonna end up in a mental institution or that i'm already in one for who knows how long. It took almost 19h until i started to feel like i'm coming back to reality at least with time perception, the hallucinations lasted for few days by slowly getting weaker ( mountains were still ''breathing'' the second day ). It's impossible to tell everything from the visions, it doesn't make sense for a human after few layers..for me it was like the most beautiful and scary thing that i ever experienced until even that didn't mater.
      I would not advise trying datura-brugmansia-angels trumpet or any scopolamine containing plant ( mescaline cacti is fine) to anyone because you have to be lucky not to die, it's mostly poison and you never know how much is in the plant because it varies on so many things. I was also given some other plants to try and negate the poison effect because i unknowingly drank to much of the tea.

    I just watched _The Endless_ on Netflix. I picked it by accident; my finger just dropped accidentally on the fingerpad as I was scrolling through movies, so I thought, fuckit, let it play. I became engrossed with the movie as it went on and kept hoping that the "unseen thing" didn't turn out to just be some stupid monster. But it just got better and better. Then they showed up at the house where the drug addict guy was chained up, and I was slowly like, _hooooold on a minute.... this looks familiar...._ I couldn't remember the name of the other movie but I got goosebumps when I realized it really was *that movie inside this movie.* It was mindblowing, especially since I haven't seen _Resolution_ for ten years since it came out. I mean it couldn't have been a better set-up than that, right? The filmmakers would be happy to know that it worked out for a viewer, almost entirely by accident without knowing any of that stuff ahead of time, right? Now that I know more about them I will definitely watch their other movies.

So that existed during Resolution and there are things in that document that ended up more conspicuous in The Endless than expanded upon. That’s just like one example of one thing."

    Also, another very subtle connection is when they are at the house cleaning, and Aaron is making ramen. Justin says, "I'd rather be alive and eat ramen than be dead and eat corn." Then, towards the end of the movie, when the group has their last meal before the ascension, there is a close-up of Hal at the table, and there is a stack of corn. Maybe it's just coincidence, but Justin related corn to death, and now they are eating corn right before their death at the end of a loop.

    Question. Am I the only one who finds it very suspicious that the accident that killed Justin and Aaron's mother is at the very edge of the loop dome? We know this because her memorial is right inside the dome by one of those odd poles and the frame left there by the older brother has barely aged at all. Could it be that the mom hit the dome's wall as it became solid just before resetting (as seen with the birds hitting the wall at the end of the movie)? That also happens to be exactly where the brothers come out of at the end. It's never adressed in the movie, but that's my theory.

This is made even better when you explain that it's like a 'movie about movies' or very meta. Which is a bit sick, but since it's only fantasy, is a very fun theory.

    I think Anna is their mother and Shane is the father who got them both over the border during the reset.It's not lust it's motherly affection. When he does the struggle and wins she's proud of Aaron but she's annoyed that Justin is made to do it. The Magic trick is a bit of father son time with Shane and Justin. The reason Shane isn't worried about Aaron being with Anna is because she's his mum and he's happy they're spending time together. if the reset is every 10 years they would have needed to step out to reach the age that they left the camp (teens/20s).

    What I didn’t understand was, the conversation between the brothers about Anna giving Aaron ‘eyes’ when he was a child. Was there any significance to that? Seeing as how time and age is so warped in the loop. Or was it just Justin trying to deter Aaron from the camp?

      maybe have the director god expand the loop zones cause its pissed those two left capturing alot of people and maybe someone can convince the entity to not try and forcefully gain more actors and instead try to simply convince the people that stay with it to do diffrent things and thus with infinite time not really needing to keep getting new people to create new storys as this god dosent seem evil just like a really dedicated dierector

    • @RobertYo125
      @RobertYo125 6 ปีที่แล้ว +4

      Wait we are getting on the right track, obviously we know it can create the loops and is probably making them bigger, but the people inside can't leave. What if it is attempting some sort of ritual using the people to expand the size of the loops it can create, or maybe sense those inside seem to believe it to be a benevolent god even though it is keeping them trapped there, it is trying to make the world immortal with a massive loop. That way they can live their lives without having the fear of death, and continue to give it power, but that is mostly my imagination taking things to the extreme.

    • @Skillionaire9
      @Skillionaire9 5 ปีที่แล้ว +3

      First off they don't escape. They show the mom's grave at the end to remind you of the borders; they didn't make it out and the older brother realizes this. Now the next progression of this would be a higher meta, so these 2, the characters from Resolution, and all the rest are in loops for a purpose to what end? That would be part 3, is there a "Resolution "to end all the looping? Is the entity searching for something specific? Then again, they're already working on an unrelated project, so I wouldn't hold my breath.

    @FoundFlix - just discovered this gem of a movie and thought this was an exceptional analysis, especially as you draw the looping parallel back to the main characters.
    Since the film doesn't really give data on the origin of the monster, I'd be curious others' thoughts on how/why such seemingly random bubbles are appearing and trapping people individually. Perhaps this will be explored more in a sequel?
    One other thought - anyone see any parallels to the old tv show LOST? when the sun flickered, I got a smoke monster vibe. When the tree collapsed, I got an island vibe.

    Wait hold on, they DIDNT make it out. In the end when he says “we are almost out of gas” is what he says in the beginning of the movie, they also talk about the sign saying they are almost there “to the camp” the end blends into the beginning almost seamlessly meaning they are starting the loop over. It also shows this by showing the blast of the car hitting the time dome (it’s like 1/3 seconds long). The camp members are waiting to pull them from the car like they said they did when they were kids. So again it’s starting over at the end...I think?
    I LOVE this movie! There is something really unsettling about it. I have watched it a few times and it honestly gave me a little bit of a panic attack. The fact that they could make “time” terrifying is genius. The way that this movie makes you fill in the gaps with your own interpretation of what it’s actually about, is what makes it so smart. You have to think about what it might mean, and that can take you to some darker parts of your mind. If you have an abstract way of thinking, It can become pretty deep.
