She apparently retained memories of what was happening around her while she was in her coma, too! She remembered the tragic events of 9/11, even though she was still in her coma in 2001! Well, I can say firsthand that so many aspects of this movie are totally legit. Back in 2017 I went into septic shock and had to be intubated and put into a respirator - and was in a medically induced coma for 2 weeks. I would completely dream while I was under, but very specifically, things that were happening around me, to me at the hospital were 100% seeping into my coma and being reworked by my mind and interpreted as something else but most certainly whatever would be going on would be reflected in some way or another when I was under, first and foremost sensation and physical movement-wise. Such as when I finally woke up, the nurse taking care of me was his big burly guy-and I was inexplicably scared of him almost. Reason being because he made it into my subconscious dreaming as well and while in it was one of the supposed kidnappers... so because that happened deep down on a much lower level , that’s where it remained until I saw and interacted with him which is when it triggered the fact that I knew him and how I knew him. I have narcolepsy and it causes extreme sleep paralysis and I also skip the early stages of sleep and go straight into REM. This movie seems like a play on the shared experience of those that suffer from sleep paralysis. When you are in the waking part of sleep paralysis you are trapped between the dream and consciousness. It is hellish and scary as hell. That combined with the coma concept and shared consciousness theory makes for a hell of a psychological thriller. I watched this movie after the first time seeing this video and have to say it is amazing.
I don't know if this was intentional, but the actress was reminding me of a small documentary about an actual woman who was in a decades long coma & woke up again. Defying the doctors' expectations. She can't function on her own buy it's amazing.
The glitching of the time on the phone towards the end is something lucid dreamers use to wake themselves up inside a dream. It’s a technique called a reality check, because in waking life that wouldn’t happen. The vampire teeth are also something called a “dream sign” that can be used to determine that you’re in a dream (because they are impossible in real life), so she may be laughing partly because she’s starting to wake up in the dream and understand that it isn’t real.
When a low budget doesn’t stop an artist from bringing their vision to life, I can only applaud. Fascinating topic, too. I’ve spent a lot of time investigating nightmares that woke me up in a cold sweat (and would sound ridiculously silly to anyone else). For years a creepy horrifying witch would show up grinning evilly at me from a hole in the ceiling and leaving me paralyzed with fear. When I finally got strong enough to challenge her, she was just a mother cat trying to hide and protect her kittens. I spent the rest of the dream helping her. Never saw her again 🤷🏼♀️
I look forward to every single video from this guy. I love how he explains all the videos and how it’s layered out to make it digestible. Truly a top-tier channel : )

@@anoni6108 Absolutely and your right it is academic writing. My dissertation is 224 pages. You could probably cut it in half and still get what I meant LOL. But I appreciate foundflix explaining this in such a way that is more accessible to others.
I'm only 9 minutes in but did anyone else notice that they went to see night if the living dead and then her shirt said Romero phys ed? That's some symbolism right there.
Really enjoyed this one. The whole time I was having trouble reconciling the Weekend at Bernie's and Terminator Posters with people carrying iPhones. Sarah must be somewhat conscious of her surroundings even in her coma throughout the decades.
I haven't watched the movie, but I found a different perspective that marries well. The title is synonymous to the phrase.... "A Dream Come True" As in, wanting something so much that it manifests into reality. When she's "dreaming", the dream world is her mind tapping into reality, memories, & what's actually happening around her. When she's "awake" that's when she's dreaming. It's as tho the "real" experiment is to send her clues that will influence her mind into merging both sides (dream & reality); to trigger her to awaken. Movie progression shows how more of "reality" seems to keep increasing its presence into the dream state. The different scenes gave me clues as to what happened that lead to her being in a comatose state....... A group of boys. A field where her phone was again found (her memory blocked it to protect herself from the trauma she experienced there). Her friend dancing in a club, unaware. Her eye bloodshot & bleeding & seizure activity (all are symptoms of severe head/brain trauma). The last phone call she never got to answer was from her mom, which explains why she never answers it. If they make a sequel called: "A Dream"....that would be awesome!!!
Alternatively, since a cell phone is the link to the outside world and the method used to wake her up, maybe it's her mom trying to wake her out of her coma. She got comatose in the 90s when cell phones, much less portable small ones, weren't widely used. A 90s teen wouldn't have an iphone.
This is an a accurate representation of a coma a lot of coma survivors say the outside world seeps into their dreams and their brain tries to make sense of it
Oh good god, them running away from the glowing eyes, then one by one getting snatched...it reminds me of a recurring nightmare I had in my teens, literally identical to that situation with my friends running from something horrifying with only our phone screens as light...That is some freaky shit right there. Great video!
The soundscape and foley work is simply amazing too. It's almost as amazing as the film and special effects itself. Also the director did it all himself. Simply mesmerizing. Only his second feature film too. Cant wait for the next one!
LOVED getting my nerd-on for this!!! Okay, Monster guy: Jung said that "the shadow" (similar to the id but more involved) is our unconscious, secret dark part of ourselves. Jung said, (paraphrasing)"the less the shadow is involved in a persons conscious life, the denser it is". So, someone who is ACTUALLY unconscious could be taken over by their shadow self? Mother: The Mother archetype, according to Jung, exists in the psyche of everyone, from a very young age. "The Great Mother" nourishes, comforts and protects but also gives the negative experience of NEEDING those things; this implies vulnerability and helplessness. Persona: Was the friend Zoe the "Persona"? She was stable and had a fun life and she wasn't totally honest with her. She depended on her for comfort, but kept the truth from her. Possible hole?: There were certainly mobile phones in 2001 (I got my 1st in 1991), but there weren't any freaking SMART PHONES! That part annoyed me "Weekend at Bernies" came out in 1989, when someone who was 18 (in 2001) would have been 6 years old. Odd choice. BUT it is a movie about a corpse being passed off as a living person.... correlation maybe? Meme end: at first I hated the cheesy meme ending. But then I realised, it pulls the audience into the story, because many of us have seen this meme over the last decade....are WE actually the ones in the 20 year coma? (screams). That WOULD explain 2020

Id love to see an Ending Explained for 'Number 23' with Jim Carrey as its a movie I personally loved and its super trippy so I'd love to be able to fully understand it ^^
The Jim Carey character was the kid who wrote the book. When he killed his lover and wrote the book, then jumped out the hotel window he lost his memory of having done all that. In the parts of the movie where he's detective fingerling thats him reading the book. At the end he goes to the hotel, finds all his writing on the wall and remembers what he did. The film ends with him in prison, implying that he turned himself in for the crime and freed the professor he went to see who was wrongfully convicted for the crime.
Y’all know people speak to their loved ones while their comatose? Could her mom calling ( in her dream) actually be her mother speaking to her while she’s in a coma ?
My main confusion with this incredible movie: if so many details were purposely included to really enforce the 80’s aesthetic, why the iPhones/laptops?
I don't get the laptops but the phone seems to not belong due to the glitchy stuff. So maybe it's all trickling in from the real world, it's been twenty years so it's subconsciously influenced her?
As someone who has the nickname Rem, I very much enjoyed the whole concept of dreams - even more with the theory of self involved (also a Psych major lol)
I thought Myers and Jeremy was the same person. They have the same glasses style. Sarah never sees Myers because she can't. The last time she saw him was when she went into the coma so she always sees him as Jeremy/Young Myers. Also i think Jeremy was one of the doctors in the team that was treating her maybe she had a crush on him and that's why he's so relevant to her.
Interesting!! And I am not sure, but I don't think Myers and Jeremy were ever in the same scene together. So it could be that she created this younger version of him in her dream.
Hearing the ending explained like this, it sounds really cool. Though I can't help but think that if I'd watched it myself, the ending would've pissed me off.
Thanks for covering this movie. I watched it the other day and it left me wondering what the hell happened. Even after watching several other "ending explained" videos, I still couldn't understand it. Aside from the ending, the movie was fantastic, especially in the aspects of cinematography and soundtrack.
This reminds me of of a creepypasta about a guy going through the the same thing but people on the "outside" use rabbit imagery to try and get him to understand he's dreaming
wow what an amazing movie. Can`t remember when was the last time I enjoyed a flick that much! Nor can I remember the last time a movie creeped me out for real. I guess one of the main reasons behind all this is that whole my life I`ve been having the weirdest dreams ever as well as having probably every possible sleep disorder out there. I won`t bother getting into details since every time I`ve talked about this to any of my family members or friends they`ve always had the same reaction - telling me I`m crazy and getting creeped out. At lest I`m sure that those of you that also have such experiences know what I`m talking about. And another thing - I`m surprised no one here has mentioned the fact that the movie was clearly paying homage to Kubrick and was saturated with details hinting at this. The ambient soundtrack seemingly playing non-stop from the beginning till the end, the abuse of one-point perspective, her clothes during the scene she fell asleep at school (loved that one!) and the hospital room - 237! And these are the things I noticed just from one viewing - I`m pretty sure there are even more examples - maybe some of the character names or some stuff in the background.
The shadow people remind me of sleep paralysis demons. But I guess they’re really people trying to wake her up. The so called dream world looks like something out of Little Nightmares. The morphic field theory reminds me of the shared dream experience.
I watched because I'm a fan of Landon Libion (Watch Hemlock Grove) and was very pleasantly surprised! Loved the dreamscapes, very Silent Hill-esque. Nerd magic wins in the end....kinda. Also, as a guy who suffers from hypnogogic episodes (sleep paralysis) I can testify to the pant-shitting terror that shadow demons can instill. Fucking terrifying.
I swear I'd rather watch you talk and explain the movies rather than watch it myself. I'm also appreciative of how you never, NEVER ask the viewer to click the like button and subscribe because of whatever. How refreshing kid!!!
What if she was comatose as a kid? Sleeps at a playground Old movie posters and old style tech everywhere But her body is still growing so that would explain "the blood" in her eye especially being temporarily patched up The vampire scene could explain urges that she's feeling but it's not explicitly shown because she's a kid mentally and was never exposed to sex
When a director does so many aspects of a film it could be budget constraints, but honestly I think it’s because if you want something done right you gotta do it yourself.
This movie was awesome!! I noticed a bunch of this stuff in this movie that made me question "was that on purpose" quite. For example, Sara is walking through a strange place when she wakes up and the 3 creases in her jeans lines up exactly with 3 cables run to a computer. Jeans and cables were almost identically colored. Still wonder if that was intentional.
I’m not the only one who felt a little uncomfortable during the love scene, right? I mean, Sarah looks about 12 years old. Even though actress Julia Sarah Stone was 22 or 23 when the film was made, I just can’t help but feel icky watching it.
Yes! Especially because the line right before that was Jeremy saying "you're smart for your age" and her replying "I'm 18" then right into the sex scene. I get it's legal but still weird. They could've just made both characters college students or something

I can't imagine how long it will take to clean those shelves....
Definitely long time
Exactly 3 days. Because it's an interdimensional shelf that has movies behind the visible movies and another layer behind that.
That's so cool

As someone who has a PhD in Jungian studies I so appreciate you explaining these concepts without all the fluff. I HATED reading Jung it took to forever to say what he meant 😂
I know it felt insane just staring at those words, like get to the point
IKR. I kept thinking can you just go straight to the main point 😂
Apparently that's academic writing, I had development psychology and almost ate the book out of frustration because they kept repeating and rewording the same thing like beating around the bush, so frustrating... more words don't mean you're smarter (┛✧Д✧))┛彡┻━┻
@@anoni6108 Absolutely and your right it is academic writing. My dissertation is 224 pages. You could probably cut it in half and still get what I meant LOL. But I appreciate foundflix explaining this in such a way that is more accessible to others.

Really enjoyed this one. The whole time I was having trouble reconciling the Weekend at Bernie's and Terminator Posters with people carrying iPhones. Sarah must be somewhat conscious of her surroundings even in her coma throughout the decades.

You are very smart gurl, keep slayin yassss queeen
Same although when I do it; it doesn't go well; they assume I hate fun or some crap lol
I haven't watched the movie, but I found a different perspective that marries well.
The title is synonymous to the phrase....
"A Dream Come True"
As in, wanting something so much that it manifests into reality.
If they make a sequel called:
"A Dream"....that would be awesome!!!
Alternatively, since a cell phone is the link to the outside world and the method used to wake her up, maybe it's her mom trying to wake her out of her coma. She got comatose in the 90s when cell phones, much less portable small ones, weren't widely used. A 90s teen wouldn't have an iphone.
What are you saying ....a group of boys assaulted her ?
Holy shit...the turtleneck, lmao!!!! You go my dude...killing it lately with the jokes/humor!!!

LOVED getting my nerd-on for this!!! Okay,
Monster guy: Jung said that "the shadow" (similar to the id but more involved) is our unconscious, secret dark part of ourselves.
That part annoyed me
"Weekend at Bernies" came out in 1989, when someone who was 18 (in 2001) would have been 6 years old.
The film was such a feast for the eyes and the soundtrack was something wonderful.
I love this channel. It’s responsible for 80% of the horror movies I watch now. The reviews and insight displayed also come in handy, especially when I he covers movies I’ve already seen that leave me with a “WTF” kinda feeling!

I love when you do little extra edits like professor found flicks or you just leave your trail on points and crack a joke. Always so nice. Your videos are honestly perfect because they're timeless and always feel fresh! (This video is 2 years old and I'm just watching it now)
I can't believe this movie ends with the coma meme, that's very bold.
Yeah, me thoughts exactly!
I like the way your video style is evolving over time. Little things like that Prof. Foundflix cuttaway make this channel stand out
Id love to see an Ending Explained for 'Number 23' with Jim Carrey as its a movie I personally loved and its super trippy so I'd love to be able to fully understand it ^^
The Jim Carey character was the kid who wrote the book.
Ryan Hollinger has a video about the Number 23.
Y’all know people speak to their loved ones while their comatose? Could her mom calling ( in her dream) actually be her mother speaking to her while she’s in a coma ?
This guy gets funnier every video I swear!
Finally, a TH-cam recommended vid where the comments aren't turned off
My main confusion with this incredible movie: if so many details were purposely included to really enforce the 80’s aesthetic, why the iPhones/laptops?
I don't get the laptops but the phone seems to not belong due to the glitchy stuff. So maybe it's all trickling in from the real world, it's been twenty years so it's subconsciously influenced her?
Your movie recaps and analyses are so bang-on! Definitely one of my favorite channels. You & Dead Meat James.
The director really saw the meme and said "I'm gonna make a movie about that"
That was his "muse".
As someone who has the nickname Rem, I very much enjoyed the whole concept of dreams - even more with the theory of self involved (also a Psych major lol)
Your name and nickname are so cool. 👌💤
That ending is almost like, a punchline. No wonder she was laughing in the mirror.

Hearing the ending explained like this, it sounds really cool. Though I can't help but think that if I'd watched it myself, the ending would've pissed me off.
Yeah the ending is so anger inducing. So lazy and boring.
Thanks for covering this movie. I watched it the other day and it left me wondering what the hell happened. Even after watching several other "ending explained" videos, I still couldn't understand it. Aside from the ending, the movie was fantastic, especially in the aspects of cinematography and soundtrack.
This reminds me of of a creepypasta about a guy going through the the same thing but people on the "outside" use rabbit imagery to try and get him to understand he's dreaming
the edits between chapters are fantastic
wow what an amazing movie.
3:18 I genuinely laughed out loud at the face swipe happy to angry as Professor Found Flix scrolled on passed
The shadow people remind me of sleep paralysis demons. But I guess they’re really people trying to wake her up.
The so called dream world looks like something out of Little Nightmares.
The morphic field theory reminds me of the shared dream experience.
Your videos are one of the very few that I watch upon uploading. Cannot get enough of these FoundFlix!
Writer: So how should we end this movie?
Director:.....With a meme.
The fact that the writer IS the director makes this funnier
@@bluntsbdsm324 Oh. I didn't even know that.
@@harmonetheanimationaddict4419 yeah he says it at the beginning 😊
And then Sarah was a zombie.
Uh, I mean, vampire.
Dude you are so funny and informative it’s insane. Even the cheesy jokes and funny editing isn’t cringe, how do you do it.
Once you said he looked like Daniel Radcliffe,I got Harry Potter and the half blood prince movie vibes the entire way through
😍😍
I wish this guy would explain everything to me….. so smart and I love his voice
What if she was comatose as a kid?
Sleeps at a playground
Old movie posters and old style tech everywhere
But her body is still growing so that would explain "the blood" in her eye especially being temporarily patched up
The vampire scene could explain urges that she's feeling but it's not explicitly shown because she's a kid mentally and was never exposed to sex
When a director does so many aspects of a film it could be budget constraints, but honestly I think it’s because if you want something done right you gotta do it yourself.
There’s a reason why you and James are the best at what you do
This movie was awesome!!

Well yeah. But the legality of the age is still there. Icky but still legal
Yes! Especially because the line right before that was Jeremy saying "you're smart for your age" and her replying "I'm 18" then right into the sex scene. I get it's legal but still weird. They could've just made both characters college students or something
