Howard prints a nice kite to flip for International Kite Day (January 14)

- January 14th is apparently International Kite Day! While Howard used to be good at flying a kite, he will stick to printing one instead.
In honor of today, Howard letterpress printed an image of a kite from two photo engravings made in 2006 to originally accompany our volunteer appreciation awards for that year. This was printed using our Washington hand press which was made in 1852.

I love printing! I used to run a print shop but primarily a copy shop…. I’ve worked in full 6 color press print shops and in sales. I truly love printing, colors and papers. This is so wonderful to see, thank you❣️

Who the hell chose the middle of winter for national kite day. Who has ever seen any at any point of their life fly a kite in be winter let alone 1-3 feet of snow. Did they run out of days to choose from lol! So funny, random and I love it.
Actually, 1. Not everyone lives in the northern hemisphere. It is summer in the southern now. And, 2. On windy winter days, my dad would fly kites with us out in the open fields. He was too busy discing, plowing, and planting in the spring to do it. It was a blast, and mom always had homemade hot chocolate ready for us when we came back. We had wonderful parents. ❤😊
@@bigreddallas2742 I knew this was coming. Yeah they vastly majorly of people live in the northern hemisphere. So by the numbers let’s just call that default. I live in the souther hemisphere so no need to remind me.

I am old enough to to have actually had a shop class in school that taught how to do this. Brings back wonderful memories, thank you for your showing all this
I played with yo yo’s and kites, little bit with marbles, I also played jacks and the the wooden paddle with the stretchy string attached and the rubber ball 😂😂
Kites, yo-yos, marbles, skipping, hand clapping songs, cat's cradle, something with making shapes with an elastic band around your legs?
