I once had a man tell me that if I didn’t stop singing all those worship songs, he was going to beat me up. Nothing ever came of that and somehow the Lord helped me practice grace, but it still felt discouraging.

I always tell my kids,”I don’t understand being board” which is true. But I do understand being frustrated or disappointed. When we give our very best and things just do not work out, that feels discouraging and sometimes frustrating. Thank you for your encouragement. You not only inspire through your guitar playing, but you encourage through teaching the Word.

    This last SSAL...
The Holy Spirit has to have been VERY clear in your heart communicating with his holy spirit in your heart because YOU were so clear in faithfully delivering his message. It was obvious. You were living what you were encouraging us to do. We saw it in action. You were on fire and we all know who set your fire and how he keeps it burning.
Love you so much my faithful totally like minded brother.

Hey man… I had to record this earlier in the week because I played several days in a row with several hundred miles in between. I heard the news right after my concert on Saturday night. Our prayers go out to President Trump and especially to the families of the victims. Very sad that this happened and the young man had such hatred in his heart. Great string a long!! People, as good as this weekly blessing is, don't let it take the place of regular, weekly church attendance. Find a church, get involved. Even if it's helping to park cars. God can use YOU. Nothing done for HIM is insignificant. Thank you Doyle. Your obedience is such a blessing, and an inspiration to me and many others.🎸🙂

People need help parking cars ? Or help being civil in parking process… anyway I served at my church for over 20 years, always excited to be there, kind and respectfully loving the body of Christ. Then I occasionally would see someone from church at the grocery store, usually they would see me and turn around and go the other way (??) or if I did get a chance to say hello they couldn’t wait to get away from me. The body of Christ is…. I don’t know what to say, hard to be around, is one thought. I haven’t been to church much since covid and I don’t want to go back. And now when I do go I just want the pastor to finish so I can hit the door. You can love them but they aren’t your friends or family. God Bless.

@@litemetal my church family are family AND friends. Have you considered that the problem might lie within you, and not the church. Most times when I have an issue, after much soul searching and prayer, I find that it's usually ME that's the problem. God bless you.🙏🙂

@@lukeforehand8311 I noticed that the times I was more on fire for Jesus , from the pastor down they weren’t sure what to think 🤔 . It’s fine, guys would ask me “when are you going to start a church?” It’s not something I feel called to do. I don’t want to get in front of people for 10 minutes,1 time to play some popular songs with my guitar, the “worship leaders” have real jealousy issues, oh yeah, they’re your “friends “ until you pull your guitar out 😅.
You find out who your friends are! They aren’t usually in the church. Back biters yes , friends unfortunately no.
Try walking into a baptist church without a suit and tie on , you’ll get unpleasant stares from the “godly “ men who think they’re somebody.

Thank you Doyle. When you mentioned God opening doors it made me think of a fond experience. An old homeless man I met about 20 yrs ago, my bandmates and I invited him to our rehearsal space because he was singing on the streets and we wanted to help him out in some way. So we ended up playing some music and just having fun, improving and indulging in substances we shouldn't have been. But, he was a soulful singer and he sang a line that has always stuck with me -- "God may close a door, but He always leaves open a window." He repeated the line and it was awesome, you could feel it in your soul. Anyways, I've had my ups and downs like most people and God's always been there leaving a window open for me. I still struggle but thankfully His grace, His patience for me continues. Thank you Lord. Also saying a prayer for our country. So much evil spreading, please Lord may eyes and hearts be opened to Your will. Amen.

Doyle, you were so kind to let me play that beautiful Olsen a week after you'd gone to Minnesota to pick it up...after what I think was your first show using it, at the Folk Center in Mountain View, Arkansas. That was such a generous gift as you told me about it while packing your gear after an incredible show. Looking back on it now, it's really funny that you looked at me so seriously and asked, "How did it sound?" I cannot imagine a guitar that wouldn't sound fantastic in your hands. Sounds as if your story of surrender to spirit at the age of eleven made your ability to play guitar well a part of the (bargain) excuse my poor attempt at tasteless humour, but I'm not the devil's advocate. I'm drawn to life's humouros ironies; so this would actually be the exact opposite of the story of Robert Johnson, and to whom he sold his soul, and how it enhanced his guitar playing. Again not to judge, but I'm going to play lawyer for team idiot( the guy that stormed out of a church and knocked some of your merchandise off a table) Of course I wouldn't do that ( I'm not virtue signalling, I'm just saying,) but he could concievably have an angle direct from scripture. Didn't Jesus overturn the tables of the money changers and market stalls in the outer temple courtyard, saying that it was the house of God, not a Bazaar? There's always another point of view, I believe, and believe me, I know how you feel, I've had people attack me, steal my money, knock over my mic stand or guitar, just because they felt angry, and because they were maybe drunk enough to become a four year old and have a tantrum. As a ten year old, I was given a transistor radio ( as was my brother) and while out side the church, waiting to go in after sunday school, or bible class had ended, I played my little hand held radio to one of my friends. Even thiugh we were outside the church, an older gentleman,a church regular, got very annoyed and coming over to us he announced quietly, but very emphatically, " No, No! We don't,... we don't allow we won't have that sort of thing here! I just looked at my friend and probably smirked a bit as I put the radio back in my pocket. I look at these sort of thing as "sent to try us" as my Nanna used to say. In other words you can do what in your heart you know is the right thing to do, but there'll always be a critic, and usually declaring their take on reality 180 degrees from yours! As you seemed to do, you just relax ,don't let it stress you, and leave it for God to work out. Anyone who goes against the natural flow of the universe could never be a surfer, and nature will assist them into realising how they can improve without your help except for refraining from interfering, and letting nature take its course, apart from being prepared to help pick them up if they fall. The holy spirit is the only thing that can be relied on ( trusted... [faith?]...belief?) to guide you as to when people need your advice, and better still, when not! Love to hear some of your stories along with some "inspired" playing tonight... maybe feeling Chet!❤

You always bring something interesting to the table Chris. Thank you for being part of our community. I have often struggled with the CD table in the church… It was actually out in the foyer, quite a ways from the sanctuary. In that particular case. The old cowboy went out to his truck. I was told and sat there, and wept then came back in and apologized. He asked if he could come back and they said as long as he behaved himself which he did so God is good people are forgiving, and we move on.
