I like an extra ridge line with an added tarp over the top of all that. Water will follow the path of least resistances. Tie a loop in a spare string. Wrap it through its self on your hammocks hanging lines (prussic knot i think) that will redirect a majority of any water that lands on it. Hammocks are my favorite camping bed. Just found this channel and had fun watching. Appreciate the work involved. Ty
Watching you doing an outdoor survival video is like watching the Special Olympics. On one hand I wanna laugh, and on the other hand I'm totally cheering you on.
It's good to see you out and about doing what you like my friend ill have to come USA and do some of this camping . big love to you and your family my friend
Thank you for being so awesome and honest. You're the best, and I truly mean that. I just love your videos. I watched this one at least 4 times already, and then I realized that I forgot to comment, lol. My Bad😬 😳 You're right. If you're gonna pay that kind of money, it should be completely rain proof, no leaks at all. Thank you for sharing your awesome adventures and for all the hard work and time you put into your awesome videos. You're the man. Stay awesome. KEEP ADVENTURING GOD BLESS YOU
@@TheOutdoorsMeGee it does go in the floor inside. The small hammock underneath is indeed for what you used it for. Storage. I plan on getting one of these

Thanks for braving the urban woods of freaky night sounds to try out the hammock. I prefer tents or just a big tarp, plenty of space to hang out in rainy weather and my gear stays dry.
Oh my gosh! I love this guy....something grunting....oh well we will see what happens.😂😂😂😂😂 You are so funny!! I'm rolling laughing!!😅 Edit : New Sub. Keep the videos coming!
Tie a line to your support line for the rain water to run down before it gets to your tent. The majority of the water will take the path of least resistence.
I stayed in a lay flat hammock the night before last very similar to what you have.. I borrowed it from a fellow TH-camr to try out.. I am not a hammock person at all. It was really nice inside but it was constantly rocking, I was crunched up against the sides and it didn't lay flat and I kept sliding down.. so needless to say, at this point I am still not a hammock fan.. thanks for sharing the journey with this man! Enjoyed it
I use a regular hammock and love it, though there is certainly a learning curve. If you have a lay flat, amd you’re sliding down, it’s because it isn’t level, amd for the sides, you need to make sure it’s wide enough for you. I use a regular one, with a built in bug net, and a 9x9’ tarp, so I have a dry place to sit, leave my shoes etc…. The trick with a regular hammock is to not string it up tight, and lay as diagonally as possible. If you do it right, you’ll be almost flat. Some are made asymmetrical to make that easier. I can’t see myself in a tent again unless it’s winter.
To each their own my friend! This one is surprisingly stable! But i agree im not really a fan of the hammock. I like to be alert and my feet on the ground especially in my urban area where you never know if someone is going to come upon you. Your support is greatly appreciated my friend! Be safe out there!
@ That’s a good reason to use a traditional fly, and not the wrap around. You can set it up to keep you dry, and be able to see around your camp better than a tent. I got pretty spooked when I was camping alone in the bush when I heard wolves just outside my campsite before going to bed, so I was glad for it. It’s just that when it gets cold, the wind blows right through, so I set it with the sides down.
I am subbed to far too many outdoors channels, I can never watch them all, but this was a fun video with a chill dude...one more sub won't hurt I suppose... 😁
Hello great video I think it should have a couple of windows in it they don’t make tents like they use to have a good week here from Ontario Canada ❤️❤️❤️❤️🇨🇦🇨🇦😎
It was definitely rain coming through just at those tie down spots but overall i think it did well straight out the box. The lay flat is absolutely wonderful. I don't thinking ill be going back to a traditional hammock setup after this to be honest!
I have heard of sealing stitch points like the tie downs with a 50/50 mixture of 100% clear silicon and toluene and paint it on with a foam brush. I never tried it myself but it should work pretty good, I would think.
Yeah, I was giving up on the idea of using a Hammock instead of a Tent because rain was running along the ropes and wet my bottom and top part + if you do this in a storm you will feel the movement of the trees through the ropes and that makes it damn hard to fall asleep!
I've wanted one of those Night Cat lay flat hammocks for awhile. It looks like if you just put a little seam sealant on those tie down points it should be good to go! That's not too bad for what is considered a budget company. Night Cat is a pretty good and reputable company, with a pretty big following. I have their regular bug net hammock, 4 or 5 tents from them, and one of their 70L backpacks! Overall I would be pretty happy with that for a first test. Now I believe I will have to go ahead and get me one!
I USED to have a nightcat and loved it till it flipped me out, but that was my fault. It was designed to sink in the middle and I had this memory foam matt that gripped really well, so since it couldn't grip, it got too top-heavy. I'll probably buy this one, mine wasn't a lay flat, and the lay-flat looks like a really good improvement. As I type this I'm actually camping in a really spacious popup tent, freezing cold, gonna literally be below freezing tonight. I'm a bigfoot investigator, so the compactness of the hammock tents is really nice.
I think it's weird how only those tie downs drawed water through the seam tape. It wasn't bad, but like you said, in a downpour, how would it do? Still a good camp just to get out an test new product. Especially back in our favorite patch of weeds! Cool beans doggie... sees ya on the next one!! 🍻
You got that right! Thank you much for the continued support my friend! A lil silicone would probably save the rain fly but i would definitely like to look out and see what around me! Haha

Yep basically its an urban set of woods in the middle of the city
Anything advertised as "waterproof" means sort of, a little bit, waterproof. We tried!
🤣😂🤣😂🤣 you got that right!
Doesn't seem as though the seams weren't taped properly or at all. A simple can of spray water proofing will solve the whole issue of the minor leaks.

I’ve seen deer and moose on the move in the pouring rain, so it does happen, just not as common.
to me this seens to be a a 2 part tent 1 gbeing cot the other being tent
Use some leaves for insulation. That looks weak
In a survival situation. Certainly. But this is just some urban woods testing a hammock.
It would’ve helped immensely if you had put it up properly! I’ve one,…..been out in thunderstorms and never a drip!
Was up properly according to specs. Maybe this one just didn't get seam taped as good as yours......
