    I had an Eafengrow SOCOM copy and it was a fairly nice Knife. And yes CPM D2 is amazing steel as with standard Die steel. Cool knives my Friend and I have zero issues with the likeness of the ZT and Microtechs lol it’s affordable.

    I just received an EF929 today. I was hesitant because I saw the D2 test videos. I`m like you, they are just cool. The knife I got today feels horrible in the hand and there is nothing practical about it. However, i frickin` love it! It`s not something I will carry a lot but very cool looking... I`m sure I will carry occasionally.

    Eafengrow was getting scammed by his suppliers for the first few years of his run. Thankfully he has made enough $ to take over production himself. He is now acquiring the d2 for the manufacturing process himself. Since this change all tests done on his knives have come up real d2 steel.

  • @CaptDavesSportfishing
    @CaptDavesSportfishing ปีที่แล้ว +2

    who cares that they're not D2 either one of those six knives no one is gutting or skinning a moose, you're cutting Amazon packages. this knife blade shit is so out of hand and I'm not talking just cheap Chyna folders.

    • @DocP91B
      @DocP91B  ปีที่แล้ว

      I really wish that TH-cam had a laugh react to use on comments. Who cares? Probably the people that saw a product listing that said D2 and bought the knife. False advertising is illegal. I guess you don't care about that, and thanks for self identifying as a scumbag that had no problem with people being ripped off.
      Companies charge more for a D2 blade than an 8Cr blade. Especially back when this video was made. Did you even check the date here? You don't know why anyone else may prefer one steel over another for their particular blade or use. What you seem clueless about is that there are many EDC or outdoors tasks that anyone can use a folding knife for, and that people may prefer various steels for their various properties- from edge retention, to ease of maintenence, to corrosion resistance, to toughness. It's all up.to the individual and their preference. All steels are not the same.
      For you to assume when anybody but you is doing with their knives also makes you an idiot. You have NO idea. Great, so you only open Amazon packages with you yours. Ok. Guess what - OTHER PEOPLE do more. The fact that you can't seem to empathize with other people also makes you a sociopath. So now we know you're a scumbag that sees no problem with consumers being ripped off and you're a sociopath that probably has no problem ripping them off yourself.
      And D2 steel has nothing to do with skinning or gutting anything. That isn't what tool steel is made for. You don't even know what you're talking about.
      Your opinion is worthless.

    I love a good quality budget knife. Not a fan of clones but they do look like decent knives. I'd have to use one to know. D2 is definitely a decent tool steel. I like it for a budget knife. I don't like the dishonest history so I probably won't be giving them any busines. Cjrb is definitely a decent go to for budget d2 knives. They have plenty of jade models. Most come in at around 30 bucks. I also love civivi most of them are around 50 but they are excellent quality and have lately been using some higher end steels. The action and feel is great with both of those makers. Civivi is the budget line of we knives and cjrb is the budget line of artisan cutlery. Both fantastic companies.

    I haven't heard of anyone saying the Eafengrow ef936 was a copy or clone or whatever they are called lol of any knife. Luvthemknives tested the ef936 in his batch 33 episode and the ef936 tested as D2 so did the ef937 which is clone of the Kershaw Junkyard Dog knife. I like the ef936 because of its unique tactical look, design and that cool looking milled Jade G10 handle. I hope the quality is on par with the other D2 G10 models out there. Ive dubbed it the JADE LION and im gonna put a blue paracord and Chinese Lion lanyard bead on it. If it's what i hope that it is. A good Heavy strong liner locking folding knife with no blade play and pretty good feel and action.

      Well i found out that the Eafengrow ef936 is a clone of the Rike Unicorn....ho hum...lol...clones.

    • @DocP91B
      @DocP91B  3 ปีที่แล้ว

      It's not a clone. A clone is when a company reproduces a knife down to the logos of another company and tries to pass it off as the real thing. That is the ultimate in bad. Clone - an exact duplicate. What Eafengrow is doing is copying designs. But they aren't trying to con you into buying a knife marked as Benchmade, or Spyderco, or Ruike, or Kershaw that isn't really what it claims to be. When companies copy designs from each other they change details JUST enough to avoid copyright infringement. Some people find a valid market for those kinds of knives becasue you can get a general feel for the design with a $20 dollar copy or "inspired by" design before you throw down a couple of hundred on the real thing. But there is absolutely no good reason or excuse to ever support the clone industry. The difference in terminology and concept is important.

      @DocP91B  2 ปีที่แล้ว

      I could just as easily line up 10 different company's knives and have them look completely different, depending on which ones I chose. The thing about Eafengrow is they directly copy entire designs by other companies and put their branding on it.

      @@jasonhackett8407 I think, and most people I know agree, that a clone is when a company tries to pass off a piece as an actual knife of another company. Good examples are the fake Benchmades and Spydercos on Wish or Aliexpress.
      A copy is when one company uses the design of another but doesn't try to pass it off as the original. Like Eafengrow's exact copy of the ZT 0456 - the Eafenfrow 455. They used the same model number! The EF225 is a direct one for one copy of an early Strider SMF. Look at the Ganzo FB727 - it's a nearly exact replica of the Ontario RAT-1, except they put an Axis lock in.
      All of those are copies. If they were clones they would have been made to fool a customer into thinking they were buying the real ZT, Strider, or Ontatio with original brand marks and faked company packaging.
