Thank you Mr Baako for Writing this book. Rawlings coup killed my 18 years old brother who was a student. He was a final year student from Emit technical school Kaneshie. He was killed at circle coming from school in 1980. My brother would have been here if Rawlings had not made this stupid and selfish coup. My brother's name was Kwame Sakyi-Kwakye.

I keep saying that the ignorant youth of today is the biggest problem of Ghana now. They never want to learn from our history. All they know is how to join politics and make money regardless of which party they join. They have no nation building principles in them. As long as they can make money, everything is fine with them. It's so sad.

It is abundantly clear to me that when Rawlings went to the stakes where Amartei Kwei was about to be shot by firing squad, he went there with a simple macabre proposal to a man about to die:
    1. That he should take the blame for the murders and save the revolution he so much had vested his life in.
    2. That he should lie, even practically at the "cross" or stakes, at the countdown to his final seconds of breath to say he Rawlings and Kojo Tsikata did not know anything about the abduction and murder of the judges.
    3. That if he should take the blame, he Rawlings would ensure his children education and welfare of his family would be taken cared of.
That was a deal Amartei Kwei would not commit to, for at the last minutes he saw how wicked, a liar and a betrayer Rawlings was.
Rawlings must have said something to the effect of ...... "what has he Amartei Kwei got to lose, he is about to die anyway? If he loved him Rawlings, he should put his life down to save he Rawlings and Kojo Tsikata asses".
That is what likely transpired. And of course, that didn't happen so that is why that tape never saw the light of a day. The last thought that ran through the head of Amartei Kwei before hot burning leads pierced his body was how stupid he has been? Some friend. Amartei Kwei thought he was doing revolutionary duty. He was sent to do the dirty job and hanged out to dry.
But the big question is why? Why did they feel the need to kill the judges? Remarkably simple, the judiciary was the third branch of government that mad dog Rawlings thought was standing in his way. See, he had decapitated the generals, overthrown the Limann presidency, had sacked and suspended parliament; the judiciary was the third arm of government that was standing in his madcow quixotic revolutionary march and he needed to coupé them to send the fear of God into the hearts of the whole country. In Amartei Kwei, he found a docile and willing fan-fool to carry out his devilish wishes. That's all!

I witnessed many atrocities Rawlings soldiers committed in Kumasi. They almost shot my mother. She escaped through a door, thank God. Eventually she flew out of the country. Football spectators at Kumasi sport stadium were beaten and forced to crawl on their knees in the streets towards Amakom roundabout. Men were crying. A priest was severely beaten and burned at Kejetia roundabout. We were forced to watch the soldier burned this man. Rawlings is the only Ghanaian leader who committed serious and violent atrocities in Ghana history since independence. He should confess his crimes and apologise, or shut the hell up. Many children grew up without the fathers and mothers. Today’s his children were raised up and enjoyed the best care, school and opportunities. He and his supporters should be ashamed of themselves. The Ghanaian youth should learn about their history. There’s more I can say. Long live Ghana!

Rwanda went through the worse form of sacrifices from their own people. They have moved on and doing so well for themselves. After NRC We are still here talking about Rawlings.. always blaming someone .. do we always have to find dirt on someone to make us feel better . Rawlings could do these cuz some of your age mates at the time supported him. We the youth now are unfortunately doing the same.. probably another form of killing. Let's bring up better kids not to pollute them with these dark times. It can form hatred and prejudice. Rawlings will die and still people will associate our failure as nation to him. 20years after him. We still haven't found our feet. What has happened to us is just effects of global development. Just like a rock exposed as a result of erosion. Not because the rock by itself decided to grow taller but the soil around got washed.. #GhanaDeservesBetter

Akans are extremely forgiving naturally. I wonder if Ewes would have forgiven rawlings if he was an akan with his sqad killing them. The problem then is like 500% of what we’re experiencing in the country now, and even yet we call it unbearable.
Officeholders then had just a single motive: loot and hoard as much as your bank account and home basement can hold, for yourself and your future generations. Tell me, who runs a nation like this??? Tell me you fool!!

One of the biggest achievement of the revolution (both June 4 and 31 December) is the stability that Ghana is enjoying at the moment. We should not forgot about the political 'conscientisation' the revolution brought to Ghanaians. My condolences to all the families who loss family members during the revolution. Kwaku Baako is a " Stomach Politician." At the moment, if you go to Rwanda and you criticise Paul Kagame's government will you go free?
Kwaku Baako should stop criticising Rawlings who was a Revolutionary Leader with less control over the Armed forces.
