"What a nice shot from the garbage can." Felt like I've heard this one directed at me before.
😂😂
At least once a game
facts
Me when I try asking anyone out
“I’ve never taken a bad drop in my life, I’m not about to start now”
Props to both Rory and JT for handling that like gentlemen. Rory came in to say he's good with the spot, removing any potential penalty from JT, and then JT asked if he wanted the ball or a mark.
Yes, it's an extraordinary bit of courage, sportsmanship, and chivalry. If it were up to me, they would win nobel prizes.
Honestly I'm surprised they haven't both been knighted for that.
It's a good job they decided to handle it like gentlemen although the match referee was about to hand them some boxing gloves to sort it out if they couldn't agree...
Should have had a quick game of fives to sort it out. Also, loser does a shot in the bar later.
"I've never taken a bad drop in my life" is like listening to thief say they dont steal.
in that instance though he was more right than they were
What he said^ they had him wayyy short of the green and he was like 10 yards short of pin high
Not where is splashed, where it crossed.
@3:04 He saved lives by getting that ball out. It would have been pandemonium had he left it.
I remember watching that Berger debate at the Players, didn’t know the guy before that and won’t like him after that
Why? He’s defending his own play.
I give Hovland a lot of respect though. It takes some balls to call someone out on a drop when you're practically a tour rookie.
I respect him standing up but they were wrong. When they show the shot tracer he clearly passed the line farther up,
Can someone explain what happened? The guy in pink shirt hit the ball into the water but what's the debate about?
@@rizz2pro There was no footage available at the time, and they were trying to figure out where the ball landed in the water to take a drop closest to it. Berger was trying to suggest that his ball entered the water based on his intention to hit a fade. He actually hit it more or less straight, and so the point of entry was further back than what he was trying to suggest. Holland and Dhamer are pointing that out and he doesn't like it.
Berger being a bit of a knob there
aye yo that's Daniel "Never Taken a Bad Drop" Berger to u bro
Instead of sticking to his guns, he was just like “I’m doing what you say but you’re wrong and I’m unhappy” lol
He was right though
@@kg5653 No he wasn't. He was trying to suggest that his ball entered the water based on his intention to hit a fade. He actually hit it more or less straight, and so the point of entry was further back than what he was trying to suggest. Therefore his playing partners were justified in pointing this out.
@@RatluBoogerbag I stand corrected, thank you
Berger is such a flippin baby. He wasn't sure either and he just shanked a ball in the water. Not the time to plant your flag.
not really his problem imo, if the sport wants to be taken seriously none of that should be up to the players at all.
@ziggle5000 99% of the time if there is no cameras, it's up to the players
@@MrBestinhalo That isn't really an argument. In almost any major sport there is video review at the highest levels. 99% of the time hockey games aren't recorded, but they manage to have video review in the NHL.
@@drew651 What are you talking about? All NHL games are recorded.
@@NathanM4A1 I never said they weren't.
Honestly when playing in state for my high school golf, I HATE it when we have to wait and grab the person who can see what call we should make
Same
@@normboy8376 hahaha it’s the worst. The worst about playing in state is that so many people are there and usually in the first hole we play in the day, my drives are not good ‘cause I get sooo nervous but when the next holes come by with less people watching,‘I feel more confident 😂 o just HATE people watching me. Like in my country club, I stall when the lady with the cart and drinks waits for me to hit the ball but I say “you can go, it’s fine!” Because I don’t want her to see if I hit a bad shot and get embarrassed LOL
you guys think this guy played in state?
@@fencer1979same! I'm on a highschool team but sadly none of the rules officials actually know what they're doing. Like I have to take out a rule book to tell them the rule. One rules offical tried to make me hit out of a puddle in the fairway, that was like 4 inches deep..I could barely see the ball...so after a bunch of explaining to him about temporary water and stuff, he said "I learn something new everyday" 😂 I mean, the rules offical is supposed to teach me, not the other way around
@@girlgolfer07 LMAO. Golf season starts this fall and I swear I get so freaking nervous ‘cause in tournaments, it can get PRETTY alward when playing with girls who don’t really like to talk and get angry if they hit a bad ball. I hate golfing with strangers 😂 I get too nervous
I like for 2:28 they have the official of course, but also the Waste Management official there just to make sure there is no funny business with the trash
"Is that your ball next to mine??? I shanked it!" lmao
@4:21 he says he’s never taken a “bad drop” in my life and I’m not about to…. What does he mean by that?
He’s never cheated by dropping a ball in a more favorable spot than he should.
@@ckirkwalsh ty
The PGA: making NFL rules look simple and easy to interpret since 1934
Is great to see the best golfers in the world shanking the ball around once in a while lol
Sungjae Im’s shot just about sums up how much luck plays into golf
I was playing in the Maryland Open many years ago when my tee shot ended up between two OB stakes that were like 25 yards apart. Both of my playing partners were telling me the ball was OB but i was pretty darn sure it was outside the line although it was very close. Ended up with a rules official and a ball of yarn. Tied off to one OB post and pulled it tight to the next one. My ball was no more than two inches on the good side of the string. I ended up with a PW into the green from there instead of having to play a pretty terrible provisional ball id hit. Saved me at least 2 shots and probably 3.
Landing in a trash can at a waste management match is pure irony
That's a coincidence, not irony.
@@chexlemeneux8790 irony. a state of affairs or an event that seems deliberately contrary to what one expects and is often amusing as a result.
@@Clemsontiger21487 exactly.
@@chexlemeneux8790 thx
@@Clemsontiger21487 Anytime.
Would it be crazy to explain what the rulings are?
0:22 I wonder if he is in a little depression from Iraq
What are the rules for the first clip, where your ball is hampered by the cart path (or any man made path) but not actually on it?
I believe you usually play it, unless like in the first clip, you determine it is an unmovable obstacle, you would then take relief.
You can take oath relief if you are on the path or if you would be standing on the path. So even though his ball wasn’t on the path, he got free relief since he would have to stand on the path to hit the ball
What’s happening on the hovland and Berger thing?
When a ball is hit into the water, you have to drop in the designated relief area, or you can drop in line with where your ball crossed the water.
Berger claimed his ball crossed the water much closer to the hole than what Hovland and dahmen said.
Ball collisions on the green should be fair game , you’d win some and and be SOL on others.
Used to be the rule. You weren't allowed to move balls blocking your line to the cup, if you hit them, your opponent could play it from where it ended up or from where it started. If you accidently knocked your opponents ball in, it counted. Changed in 1952.
Why did RM get to move hos ball like 5 metres to the left of the vehicle? I thought a drop was a club length away? Or why not move the vehicle if the ball is underneath it???
Same rule as getting relief from a scoreboard thats temporary. Its an unmovable obstruction (ironic being that its a car), so he can get complete relief from the car, including his line of play.
How does Colt Knost NOT know that you can't play from a wrong putting green lol. It's a 2 stroke penalty to do that.
as someone whos played golf for 15 years. there are so many rules that are petty and make no sense.
@@zesolodar as a person who has golfed for just over 15 years, not making a giant divot in the green is possibly the most sensible rule in the game so your comment is useless
@@rishabhsharma5610 I wouldn’t play from the wrong green even if it was legal. It would be terrible manners.
@@rishabhsharma5610 you are allowed to play from your own green so you could take a giant divot there. That's not against the rules.
@@JeffSmith-eq3kc sure but the most u r gna do on ur own green is a chippy bounce shot, taking minimal divot if at all. from the wrong green, you are looking at anything from a lob wedge to a driver off the deck, so theres no controlling that
Me up on the tee box “come on guys it’s been 15 minutes.. just the damn ball. 2cm away isn’t gonna do anything!” 😂
Awesome video merry Christmas
Is this why Daniel berg stopped playing??? Lolol wowserz
@2:10 That was a rubbish shot
…
Budum tss
5:30 is that car a TIO according to the rules?
3:34 It was 20 yds left of the pin. 3:24.
A year later nobody will care now but if you watch it back slowly i agree with Berger. His ball was starting on his correct line well to the left of the water.
So what were thw unique rulings? I failed to see.
6:30 Don't understand why they are surprised he is taking relief from the wrong green, 13.1f is pretty clear. "Relief MUST be taken. You MUST NOT play the ball as it lies."
yeah do they expect him to just put a massive divot right in the middle of the green? lol its like they didnt even think about it...
I would have thought the entire ball has to be in the hazard for you to not get relief. Kinda like OB. I wonder if PGA will make exceptions when immovable obstructions and penalty areas intermingle.
I love golf but some of these rules are are just so stupid.
Golf: the one sport where you never see these types of situations everyday
10:15 Hmmmm. Despite what the rules say, he should have been granted relief from the sprinkler head. That rule needs to change.
It was a bad job of marking by the officiating crew, should be a little cut out in the margin for the hazard so there was no way that that situation would happen in the first place. If that Red line marking the hazard wasn't there he would've got relief from the sprinkler head.
Bad look from Berger there. Both playing partners were in agreement where it crossed, he hemmed and hawed that whole way through that. I would have had a hard time to keep my mouth shut there if I were Joel or Victor.
I'm sorry but any role that demands you play a ball off a sprinkler head is a bad rule. The rules are supposed to protect and preserve the course.
Shut up, poor person
They shouldn’t have painted the boundary line adjacent to it
@@velvetundergrad2843 yeah, it's not necessarily the rule that's bad, it's that a ball on the sprinkler head can roll across it, and make contact with the line. If the line was an inch farther, there's no problem
You betta be sorry next time I'll sock ya 😂
2:20 - An unusual hole in one LOL
It’s amazing how the commentators don’t know the rules. Surprised Matt didn’t play from the wrong green??? He’s not allowed to.
First clip is gooood
I live how weird the gomf rules are. It's so entertaining😂
That one in the chair's cupholder looked like it was in a pool pocket.
Berger is irritating AF
the guy that went in the water and was told no video there was video we saw it go in
some of these rules are just sooo stupid
Wow das war spannend eieiei
*ball lands on green* HUH says..."I shanked it". Wish my shanks do that !!!😂
Rules Official: “FINALLY! I HAVE SOMETHING TO DO!”
“I shanked it.”
Ball is on putting green.
We have very different definitions of the word “shank”.
These PGA rules can be ridiculous!
Isn’t a divot technically a man made structure 🤷♂️
so is the rest of the gold course 🤷
@@blueworm9395what about the silver course
Gold comment there!
That first shot was amazing man damn
And there I always thought football rules were complicated...
Wth was that audio at the end showing JT going over the tents? Lmfaooo
Dude Perfect has been real quiet ever since Gary Woodland's lawn chair hole in one.
Im gonna play some olskool wii golf now 😈
it's as if they swear they have to think on it for 5 minutes before finally realizing the obvious solution..
What exactly is unique about those rulings? Pretty disappointing to waste time for standard golf.
Joel and Gino don’t lie bergs
How about including the "unique rules" so us non golfers can learn more about your sport!?
Why would he mark the ball if he just going to place it after Rory hits?
He didn’t have to. He asked Rory what he preferred, and Rory preferred to have a tee rather than a ball right next to him, which makes sense (less distracting). JT could have said no but JT is a good dude…which is why he isn’t in the LIV Tour.
@@Chris-0703 being on the LIV tour doesn’t make you a bad person, grow up.
@@rimpan1512 Why not? In itself it displays an outrageous level of greed and lack of morals, definitely seems to be a very good indicator at the very least. It’s notable that most of the worst people on tour went over to LIV. Of course, the reverse isn’t true, being on the PGA Tour doesn’t necessarily make you a good person.
@@Cream147player When you fill up your car, where do you reckon the oil comes from? Also the Saudi's just pledged 400 million to Ukraine, so does that make them good enough for you then? It's a golf tournament, by not playing in it, they aren't saving the world.
@@Cream147player 3 of the top 5 finishers from The Masters were from LIV golf 😂
“Sounds pretty good” yeah looks good as well
Why can't officials have the authority to make balls that are in the greens until the players get to the green to mark it themselves?
Clean it off!🤣
so you are allowed to remove your shoes and socks to play a shot, but you aren't allowed to kneel on a towel.???
You must be able to identify your ball before playing it, except if its in a garbage can???
Nobody talking about 9:05 Cam Davis grounding his club in the red area while taking off his sock and shoe? lol
The rules have changed. You are now allowed to ground your club in those areas. It's now called a penalty area, not a hazard and you now treat it like any other area on the golf course. No grounding still applies to bunkers.
@@The_TH-cam_Critic Thank you for that. I wasnt aware they had changed that rule,
@@The_TH-cam_Critic thank you for the clarification as I was not aware either
These people have played too much ea sports
6:56 This proves that pros play with massive advantages, one of them for example being all of the stuff around the course/fans/grandstands…if that chair wasn’t there he would probably be in tree trouble like the rest of us
*In the bin*
Play it as it lies buddy 🤣
Bad Lies Matter
Why is these golf rules so complicated. Nobody likes it.
Just show the pga this video and maybe they’ll get a little bit of what are we really doing here
Off a water closet...
oh, gee, the ball is under a car. what ever shall we do?? hmmm maybe MOVE IT?
2:13 - what a trash shot.

I want to see ones that land on a roof, lol
:23 I heard “he is in a little depression from Iraq”
Jeez whatever happened to play it where it lies lol
You wonder why golf is slow? Stupid rules when in the fairway? Just play on…my gosh. And get rid of the divot in fairway. If it was wet or raining then lift and clean rule applies so nobody ever hits out of divot. Old divots shouldn’t penalize a player when in fairway. Never understood this dumb rule. Play as it lies.
Change the damn rule to lift clean and place if in the fairway. U hit the fairway, you should get a perfect lie.

Not enough common sense used too much wasted time .
Gary Woodland’s was incredible. Should’ve been able to put down a 0 😂

I could watch this stuff all day…LIV Golf I’m done after 30 seconds
We don't have to worry about this on LIV Tour
Click bait
Some of these are absolutly bad rulings based off the rules official not having thr stones to stand up to a player and say "I'm sorry but you're wrong."

You could hear him say noone has the keys.. how would you suggest they move it? 😂
