Thanks Jean for this talk, I've learned a lot; not jumping to come conclusions, assuming benevolence, meaning of connection & alies, shared goal etc.

Harry Binswanger arguing with Peter Schwartz is an ARI episode I'd like to watch. Different from the agreeable content ARI is usually posting.

How is guessing their purpose for a conversation after feeling a disruptive emotion not mind reading. Don’t we want to avoid mind reading?

I listened further, I think the answer is you assume they are good intentioned in the conversation otherwise why are you talking to them.
And their good intention is one of the three: connection, cooperation, or communication.

I wonder how many people in the audience remember anything she said in 2 weeks time.

Everything we say or do is based on emotion, otherwise we wouldn't do or say it

    Objectivity meaning:-
"being objective : lack of favoritism toward one side or another : freedom from bias. Many people questioned the selection committee's objectivityis the key to avoiding misunderstandings and making one-to-one conversations productive."
If the thing being discussed is 100% empirically provable and the speakers are agreeing with each other then they are being objective.
If like the speaker you are biased towards one set of ideas and ideas are not based on empirical provable truth then the conversation will ways be subjective and never objective.
A theory remains a subjective idea until it can be proved to 100% true, fact.
Rand's work was 100% subjective not objective.
Everything Rand wrote was by its very nature "subjective" she never wrote about Objective thing in her life.
    Prove me wrong.

The only reason she is there is to make money out of the mugs in the audience.
