I have been running the Nox 800 for over a year now and it never ceases to amaze me in its ability to seperate targets. Quite often when you see 3 different VDI numbers it is actually detecting 3 different metal objects I've noticed. If you run in all metal mode you will get greater depth out of the detector. My wife and I love the videos and I look forward to learn more about the Nox through your videos. Thanks and Happy Hunting
I have noticed that even with a couple targets in the same spot you still get a reading from all of them. When I dug my first couple “in the field” targets I pulled the plug and spread it on the ground to find a couple different targets. I started realizing that it happened only on the ones where the target ID’s were jumpy before digging. Kind of amazing that it picks them up... I’m so used to battling combination vdi’s and passing them up because it looks too much like junk. That’s awesome you two like the videos I’m making, I really try my best with them although sometimes times restrictions make for less involved videos than others. I’ll be back out this coming weekend to make another video out hunting with the Nox at the site I found the trime at. Hoping to pull some nice finds out if there. Thank you for checking my videos out. 🙂
Been sidelined since major health issues in 2013. Fantastic Videography, detailed explanations....exactly what I needed was to binge watch quality MD'ing to get the juices going again. Can't thank you enough. Congrats on the new ML
That’s awesome to hear the videos can help. I actually have a friend on here in the same situation and hoping both you and him can get back out and detect soon. I’ll be out tomorrow hunting and hopefully have a decent video out by mid week. Thank you for checking out the videos and take care. Make sure not to rush recovery... healing and healing right is so important.
Thanks for taking the time, showing us that machine and its operation in the field.. In my opinion I think that machine is better suited for the Beach. But if your happy with it that is all that matters.
Your welcome and glad you got to experience it. It’s going to take time to get fluent with it but so far the experience has been great. I’ve never hunted on a beach before and noticed that the sensitivity to gold as well as controlling the ground noise is excellent... I’m sure the machine would do pretty good on a beach but I’m unable to relay very much due to no experience hunting beaches. Thanks for checking out the video and glad you tuned in as well as commented.
I like your videos keep-em coming. I noticed at 4:07 you had a target with vdi of 35 and a depth over 12" (each little triangle equals 2" of depth). After digging it turned out to be a nail. If you get back to that spot check that hole one more time. It sounds like a silver quarter to me. Put in a little iron bias, about 2 or 3. That should quieten it down a lot and eliminate most nails. You will get lots of little chirps when you go over iron, but if you don't get a strong repeatable signal let it go. Once you figure it out it will be you go to machine 90% of the time. Old house sites the 6" coil will help a lot. Keep up the great vids.
Thank you and glad you enjoy the videos. Thank you for the tip utilizing the iron bias at a low setting and checking the solid hits... I’m still trying to get the feel for the language of the machine down.... going to take some time. I actually thought about not checking that hole again when the nail turned up... I’m so used to the V3i giving me great sounding square nails over the years although I’m figuring out that the 800 can really keep you from digging trash as well as pick up targets and separate when they are laying almost on top of each other. The combination VDI issue I’ve dealt with may not be that much of an issue from now on from what I’m seeing so far. Liking that a ton. Thanks for checking out the video and for commenting.
Great video. The 800 is a great machine. The brass part with threads was an old rein guide. Always like finding those. Thank you for taking us along in the field.
Thank you and glad you enjoyed it. I am really liking the equinox... just can’t get over how responsive it is to targets. I’m hoping I can use the machine to go to old sites I’ve bunted and find some deeper and masked targets. I’ve done some testing out side the house on the same buried targets campring my V3i and the 800... it’s night and day difference. I won’t open up too much about what I’m seeing until we all in my videos do some hunts where the two machines face off and then we dig to see actual long time buried targets. Only thing I’m comfortable saying is that I can already tell the 800 and I are going to get along just fine. 🙂 thanks for checking out the video.
That is a great way to describe the equinox. Ignore the weak jumpie signal and dig the clear signals. It is amazing at distinguishing between good and bad targets once you learn what it is telling you. I have recently hit a cellar hole that had been detected at least 3 or 4 times previously (once by me with a Whites mxt) and nothing significant was found. I hunted the same sight with my Nox and have pulled 7, yes I said 7, large cents from that "hunted out " site. Best of luck. Also just found a awesome 18k rose gold mens ri g with a giant carved tigers eye stone. Ring dates to the 1800s. Love my nox.hh.
So far that’s the best way I can describe it.. still learning but I know for sure the machine is going to change my hunt, my enjoyment of the hobby and really stack on the finds. I just uploaded another video from a site I’d already hunted... I’m hoping this coming weekend to go to a fresh site but I may stick with fields until they get planted. Once planted I have to wait until late fall to get back out to detect in them. Thank you for sharing your experiences with the machine... wow... 7 large cents at one site... is that’s amazing. 👍🏻 Glad to hear your hunts are going good because success in this hobby means everything. Take care and thanks for watching.
@@squarenailsquirrel9638 hey man you will love the nox. I went back to the site I got the 7 large cents from....and I was speechless, found a crotal bell, 5 buttons,,,,, and a 1833 CAPPED BUST HALF DIME!. may never find another but who knows. Couldn't believe it. What a tiny silver coin. Half the size of a dime. What state are you in, I have a few fields to try to hit before they are planted as well. Anyhow super happy with my finds so far this year. The nox will show square nails as high numbers but mixed with some low numbers in my experience. Shield nickels are a 12 on the nox and found a Chinese coin that rang at 18-19. Hh
Oh wow, I’m excited that you’ve got an equinox now, I’ve got the 600 model and I’ve already learned a little more about it from watching this video. Thanks for sharing
That's great you have an equinox too... works out well. I think this new machine and I are going to get along just fine. I can't wait to get back out to hunt.. haven't been this kind of excited in awhile. LOL Thanks for checking the video out.
Square Nail Squirrel cool, I’m actually in western Stark Co if ur ever looking for a partner. I think most of your videos are solo though, so it’s ok if not.
I think so too... I am really enjoying it. Your welcome for the video... I had to get it posted because I was traveling just after being posted. I’m now back and waiting for the weekend to get back out and hunt some more... very excited about using the machine again.
Look at page 63 of the Equinox manual. You will be able to see the default settings of the different modes. Two of the main differences on the modes are Recovery speed and tones. Recovery speed effects depth. I found that setting any search mode to 5 tones makes the noise more even. As time goes on you will learn to adjust all 5 tones to different volumes, different pitches and different ranges of ID. The benefit is that you will spend much less time looking at the display and hum along listening for tones covering more ground. “Dirtfishing” has great videos on equinox settings. Your videos are great, as always.
Thank you for the info, I have been talking with a friend over the phone that explained exactly what you are saying. I tend to like many tones and may stick with it but I'm still trying to find my cadence with the new machine.. will take time.. but I'm enjoying every minute of it. Thank you for the suggestion of videos and I will check his channel out tonight so I can pick up on what they are suggesting. Thanks again for checking out my video as well as commenting... take care.
Hey Buddy, gratz on getting the Nox 800. I have the 600 and I have never had a more telling machine. this Nox picks up so much in the ground and lets you know there's something there amongst the junk if any. It has a learning curve but it's an easy one, I'm still learning also so keep on explaining your settings and why because you're helping others learn with you. I wish i could go hunting with you one day, your good people. I really enjoy your video's and always look forward to the next one. Keep up the good work and God bless.
I wasn’t aware there were so many folks on here using the equinox machines, with you being one of them. It’s really turning out to be a blessing because I’m learning from everyone. I don’t mind being the person that’s watched and critiqued on the operation of the machine as long as folks benefit from it once I learn how to do it correctly. I just want folks to succeed in the hobby and find what they are after utilizing the machine they believe in. Depending on where you are located I’m ok with taking a day trip to hunt with a friend. You can email me squarenailsquirrel @ Gmail and let me know where your at... I just drove to Texas this last weekend and made a couple stops to meet followers of mine on Instagram (land surveying related profile). If you not too far or on the way to a place I’m visiting i’ll check in with you. thanks for checking the video out and i’ll be back out this coming weekend hunting the spot I found the trime at.
Ha! I always have the hardest time leaving a site... just one more and head out. lol. It took a lot to get that wrap up contraption I made to work right... about the 5th version it works pretty good. It’s the only way I can cover off on everything dig that day or picked up.... not just the good stuff. Thanks for checking the video out.
Thank you Mr. Briggs... I really liked the cut coins too but I just wish there was some way to tell what kind of coin it is. It’s smaller in diameter than a large cent which makes me think it may be something I’ve never found which would make the first cut coin find even more exciting.
Looks like a great first hunt with your new machine. The 1/4 cut was awesome. Glad I was still awake when you posted this. It has me so excited to finally get out and hunt. Thanks for sharing and take care.
Thank you. This hunt was fun and really had me excited about the new machine. I'm glad I could relay the excitement your way... good luck with any hunts you have coming up and thank you for checking the video out. take care.
Very cool... I hope you have your machine by now. When mine came the mail carrier didn’t leave it because it needed a signature... I was ready to go down go down to the post office and get inside after hours to get my detector out. Lol. I was so ready to have it when I got home from work and found it not there. I’ll be out this coming weekend making another video, I traveled to Texas Easter weekend so I wasn’t able to detect.
@@squarenailsquirrel9638 the same thing happened to me, missed it on Friday waited for it Saturday and finally picked it up yesterday, lol so I'm having a case of spring fever and taking the day off lol
@Jimmy Coleman thank you, it was a fun hunt. I took some study time prior to the hunt so I could speak as well as operate for the first time intelligently. With time I will get up to speed with it. Thanks for checking out the video and for the good luck wishes.. I too wish you luck on any upcoming hunts you have.
Great video dude. I’ve seen people use one before but this is the first video that I’ve watched that was that in depth with the exuinox. Great detector. Thank for that
Thank you. I’ll keep making videos with the new machine and letting folks know my setup as well as what I learn about using it. This is a learning process since it’s new and i’ll Do my best to always educate and entertain in my videos. Thank you for checking the video out and for commenting.
Thank you and glad you enjoyed it. I will be out this coming weekend hunting and making another with with the 800. I hope to have it out by Tues or Wed uploaded for viewing. Thank you for checking the video out.. :)
Thank you.. this was a very successful and fun first hunt with the equinox. Typically I’m stumbling around trying to figure out operation versus actually operating when I get a new machine... so the the experience was very nice. For sure!!! I threw the stickers on the side of the both the Equinox and the V3i... thanks for those as well as the exposure on your channel. Keep it up... great work.
Thank youa d glad that you enjoy the videos. I really like the machine a lo and it’s amazing how many folks on here have one... I was worried people wouldn’t be interested in checking the videos out using one. After making this video it seems the new machine is going to fit in very nicely. Thanks for checking the video out.
Thank you. 👍🏻 lol... joining the nox-side. I’m totally into finding stuff and whatever it may be machine wise that finds... that’s what I’d like to operate. So far I think this new machine is going to take care of the finding stuff so i’ll Keep running it and comparing it to what I’ve alwsys used. Kinda nice to have the change. I’ll be back out this coming weekend doing another hunt... hope to pull some nice finds.
Thank you and glad you enjoyed it. I was very pleased to have such a nice day out with easy digging... that shovel slid right in and I could move fast. I hope this coming weekends site holds the same situation because I plan to be there all day. Thanks for checking the video out.
Thank you.. I had a lot of fun out there using the 800 for the first time. I’ll get better at using the new machine and go over details of use, thinks I may find that I don’t like and then do some in the field comparison hunts on targets in the ground like I did between the V3i and the sport. Thanks for tuning in to check out the video.
I used the MXT Pro for about 10 years. I bought the equinox 800 two weeks ago. And I love it! Target separation is Amazing and the depth is fantastic. Very sensitive to fine gold aswell. Just ordered the 6" coil can't wait to try it out. Love the channel. Been binge watching. lol.
Thank you and very glad the quality is working out. Means a lot to hear that on the “watchers” end the quality is good... I try my best to keep things clear. You have asked about the tool pouch before... I promise I haven’t forgot. I need more time is the problem... I’m going to bypass finishing up the design patent on it since there are too many stumbling blocks and it’s became very expensive due to attorney fees.
I had though that but the presence of threads on it made me question. I will have to compare some of my previous ones I've found to it. For some reason i was thinking they just sled into whatever pivot point they attached to but I may be wrong. Thanks for commenting and you are probably correct... at least I knew what it is now. :)
well.... Kind of did. I don't think I've ever had as much success with a machine on the first hunt like I did with this one. I can't wait until I get to know the machines language better and be confident with what's under the ground before I dig. To be honest I couldn't tell the "iffy" signals... other than a couple targets that had jumpy target ID's. I hope to get good with it in the future... thanks for checking the video out.
Hi SNNox🐿️! 😃 Congratulations 🎉 to your new machine! You and the Nox look HOT 🔥 together! 😉 Awesome finds and as always you made a very nice video! Can't wait to see your next adventure! 😃
Hello DG27... lol on SSNox 😂... thank you for the congrats... I’m very happy with the new machine and very glad I finally got the money to get it. 🙂 thanks on the 🔥... it’s amazing not what a metal detector can do for that. Lol. Had a great hunt out there with the new machine... it’s amazing how much there was left in that area. I’ll be visiting many old sites I’ve already hunted to see if the same story plays out. I’m hoping not because it will be upsetting that I left so much behind. I’ll have another video out not this week but early next. I did some long distance traveling the past 4 days. Take care.
Thank you and glad that you enjoyed the video. Thanks on the congrats... I’ve been trying to save up for it for a long time and finally got it. So far I’m totally blown away at its performance and it has me very exited to get out and hunt some more. Thanks for checking the video out.. take care.
Just one more! I've said that line thousands of times. Great video. I'm going to go to the 800 real soon, this vid should push me over the top, though, it looks good. As soon as the snow melts here, that is.
Lol. I really didn’t want to leave this day from hunting. 🙂 I was having so much fun being out there with the new machine. I’ll be back out very soon to make another video with the 800 at the site where I found a civil war general service button and the silver trime... that patch is so dense out there that both the V and the Sport had a time with it. I’m sure the 800 will have its work cut out for it but the speed of the machine along with the separation I hope will give me the advantage this time. Making the choice to get an Equinox, from my experience so far, is a solid and positive decision to improve your experience in the hobby.
So far I have found that it’s an excellent machine and your advice makes total sense... i’ll make note so I can keep learning the new machines language. Thank you for checking the video and for commenting.
The Equinox doesn't have ID number separation like the Whites V3i but the 50 tones makes up for the ID number separation. It has very fast recovery, great target separation and it is a very deep machine.
That’s true on the ID scales. The iron is only -9 to O and the good stuff is +1 to + 40. I like that it’s comlressed like that because you can just narrow it down to 4 ranges that common targets fall in. I did notice and have heard from others that on silver the numbers are dead on... even at a depth. I’m so used to the VDI’s being so far off once they are past the 4” deep mark that it’s just guess work. It would be nice if the machine continues to love up to what the box says on accurate target ID’s.
LOL... exactly.. always hoping for that big score so I can end the day nicely. Thanks for checking the video out and I'm glad the quality of the video is working out.. I try my best with that. Thanks for checking the video out.
I am used to the V3i VDI scale, Kinda hard to get that out of my head when using the 800.. I put on a 15" coil and really have to dig deep, I think I need a long handle shove now (and started to dig Chinese coins..lol).... I also had to switch from Field #2 to #1 to learn the 800..
A few things came into play.. Weight is a big issue for me and my shoulder after 20+ years swinging a coil it only took less then an hour for it to start throbbing. Also the V3i is highly customizable allowing every possible adjustment to be user configurable. Hundreds of settings and menus to scroll through and adjust. I knew this and that's what I wanted! I have been a computer engineer for the last 26 years so this was not a big deal for me and fully understand how the V3i works and what the settings do and how they behave. Inconsistency of the V3i was a major put off for me. the settings that worked well one day on the same 4x4 test bed, did not do well the next. Running my DFX across the same test bed was consistent, the V3i was not.. high tones then low tones the VDI scale was all over the place. White's serviced the detector twice after showing them a video of the behavior side by side of the DFX and a old BH Landstar. And all that was done was a calibration each time. Every time I dug a plug it was a guessing game.. Silver tones with high VDI revels a bottlecap sort of game. I have a early model of the V3i and not the upgraded model they did for awhile. I have found some great coins with the V3i, but noticed my finds dropping off after switching from the DFX, with the V3i I just dig every signal low tone or high tone and only use for relic hunting. The 800 so far has been pretty consistent on my test bed, Although not perfect I am happy with the results and the depth is kind of amazing. I have spent the last 20+ years at a favorite spot, and now have to start all over with a new detector to see what was missed. I am thinking about a video series about it..
It's going to take time for me as well to get used to the compressed scale although I really like it. I like the quartered VDI ranges of low, low medium, high medium and high... i"m not a numbers hunter where I remember exactly what a barber dime is but I do know that in the 20's the target is likely a coin as long as it pinpoints about the right size and repeats. I have found that I like both the 1 and 2 programs although I feel like if I really want to clean a site out I will need to hunt the site twice... one in 1 and once in 2 to favor either low or high targets.. I'm ok with that because I will feel confident when I leave that I found what I wanted to find. Thanks for sharing as well as checking out the video.
@@davehorlacher I read through your reply and I felt like I was answering.. almost to a T.. If you would.. please do the series about your discovery. I would love to watch someone else that is experiencing the same transition and advancement in their hobby of detecting.
Thank you and glad you enjoyed it. It’s nice to hear there are quite a few folks on here that are watching what I’m doing that actually own the machine. Coming from any machine it takes time to get used to the operation and language of a new machine. Good luck with your learning process and maybe i’ll Cover off on some things that may help you or is you see me ding things you feel should be done differently... please speak up and let me know. I think we all are on here learning from each other which is great.
I think so too.. it's a different creature than what I have been using and will take some time to get proficient with it although I believe it will help discover many more good targets and improve my hunt. I really like the White's brand of detectors but I don't sell detectors or have any interest in the company.. I just want to find stuff.. pretty much it. :) Thanks for checking out the video.
I will have it out quite a bit... the machine really has me excited to get out and hunt. Having so much that is different as well as items to learn is a great feeling... just feels good using it as well as comfortable in the hand during use. Thanks for checking the video out.
Thank you very much and glad you enjoyed it. I'll keep making videos with the 800 through my learning process.. so far.. I absolutely love it and it really has be excited about getting out on new sites as well as my old ones. Thanks for checking the video out.
Thank you.. I was very happy with the finds especially since I've hunted that area quite a bit already. I'm going to do another site where I found the trime to see if the Equinox can do the same in that matrix of targets.. thanks for checking out the video and happy hunting to you too. take care.
Thank you and that's awesome you found one too... I really like finding items I haven't found before even if it's not a coin. Thanks for joining in and checking the video out.
It’s a great machine and it really has me excited to get out and hunt. I haven’t felt this excited in awhile and am very thankful I finally got the money together to purchase one. Glad to see you and many others have an Equinox and the experience that I’m going through learning as well as operating will be acceptable. I figured everyone was dedicated Whites users and would bail on me once I brought out the Minelab.
@@squarenailsquirrel9638 no way nox is the best. i have hit yards that have been so pounded and produced nothing but junk with my other machines and the nox always found stuff. Keep it up and look forward to other videos!! HH
Thank you! 🙂 it took about the first hour to start feeling the machines responses pretty well and then things sky rocketed up from there being able to locate targets. It’s lretty amazing how well the machine works and with time I can only get better at it hopefully pulling out some great finds. Thanks for checking out the video and take care.
So far my experience with the equinox has been a delight to operate and the performance is great. I'm still new to the machine so I will be learning for a bit until I get the language down as to good to bad and to iffy targets. I'm used to using two machines that operate completely different than the new one and through my learning process I will give my honest opinion as to the good and the bad although I can't foresee too much bad... Can't wait to get back out and hunt, wasn't able to Easter weekend due to traveling. Thanks for checking the video out and good luck with and upcoming hunts you have.
Field 1 with separation at 5-6 iron bias at 1 and maxed sensitivity is my go to set up. Although I discriminate most of below 19 in parks and woods, unless at an old site or gold hunting. You are not going to back to the other detectors. I did not use my Fisher in a long time lol
Thank you... I’m learning that the recovery delay in the 4-6 range depending on density of targets with the iron bias set to 1 or 2 really works well. I sweep a little slower than most so I may keep the recovery down around 4 to match my swing as well as gain some depth. I’m not sure if the machine needs much help with depth though... it really has me digging some deep holes so far getting items outside the range of what I was retrieving. I really hope this continues because I can go back to the last couple years sites and get what I missed. Thank you for sharing your setup, it’s very helpful and both I and others who read this can learn from it.
Thank you. I will be checking it out. I really haven’t cleaned much other than a toothpick to clear up the identity in the past... sometimes when I really need and ID on a coin I’d like to have more options for cleaning. Thanks for helping and sharing your link.
Woohoo! That machine is going to blow your mind, especially in 50 tones. LOL I suggest you set it to 5 tones to get familiar with the machine. You're going to kill it now! GL&HH!
Lol.. i’ll Just say I think the equinox and I are going to get along just fine. 🙂 I have heard from others as well to set it to 5 tones. I will have to do that on the next hunt but I really want to hear all the tones... so pleasant just like music. Lol.
,Nice finds on a short hunt,,This Detector is on my future list. Wondering if maybe you could add very short tutorials on set up on that machine for dummies. I have always been a little old school,,And setting up any electronic systems has never been my forte.
Thank you. 🙂 I was surprised by his productive the site was this time out. I will do setups for each time I operate it on a hunt like I typically do. Once I get a thorough understanding of what needs further adjusting or items I prefer due to machines response to typical targets... I will then make a video. I don’t want to come straight out of the gate as something that can instruct on the machine because I’m way to new to it. I need many hours under my best before I can advise on anything. Thank you for checking the video out.
Awesome video and congrats on your finds. Gotta love the Equinox 800, it’s my go to machine and I use it the most out of my other ones. Happy Huntings! Tennessee Adventures
Thank you and glad you enjoyed it. So far it’s been an awesome experience and I’m going to have a hard time using my other machines. I can’t get over the separation when the recovery delay is at 6-7... it’s so awesome what this thing can do. Thanks for checking out the video 🙂
Yes, going to take some time to get used to although I believe the equinox and I are going to get along just fine. :) If you don't mind will you message back so I know that these messages are going through... I'm not the best on this platform and want to make sure that when the @personsname isn't coming up that it actually notifies that I am making a reply. For some reason for me it doesn't always show up.
Thank you, I am very happy with the finds from this short hunt. I will do some comparison videos as well as like I did between the Sport and V3i hunting the same site to see what the other missed. Thank you for checking out the video.
I actually make my blue bags. I am currently getting setup to make them for folks although money and time is slowing me down on the process. I will make an announcement once things are set or if I make 10-15 to distribute. I just don't want it to take too much of my free time. Between full time work, a business in another state, teaching part time and metal detecting.. I'm fairly tied up. I will try my best to get some made. Thanks for checking the video out and glad you enjoyed it, I will be making tons of videos with this new machine... it's awesome.
I really hope you are well and having good adventures and will make us another video soon. Miss your videos, you do a great job. Wish you the very best, and hope life is treating you well! Take care!
Ha! So far what what I’ve experienced... I do believe you are right. It will make a great tool to take out to the sites and produce great finds. Thanks for checking the video out and for commenting.
Object at 12:08, beside piece of harmonica, that resemble a brass hook, with bolt tread, is broken. It it circular, it is a guide for rope (rein), on horse harness. I found one here.
I think I am too, it's been a blast so far and I only have three hours under my belt in the field with it. Thanks for checking the video out and good luck with any upcoming hunts.
@@squarenailsquirrel9638 Thanks! I'll be checking out an old Trolly Park site on Friday. I just love the way my Nox locks onto targets in heavy Iron :)
A little squirrely 😜, but AWESOME video Kenny! Really neat finds picked up by the one and only, Minelab! As I wrote on your Instagram post, I would give anything to have a Minelab! ENJOY!!!
Lol. Thank you very much and glad you enjoyed it. I kept putting 30.00 back with every paycheck since early fall and for Christmas/ Birthday I asked for no present and just to add additional 30.00 to the pile. I finally made it. Lol. I would have had it earlier but I had to buy tires for my truck and that set me back. I’m glad I kept saving though... I’m really liking it so far.
That was an awesome first hunt, a lot of action at that spot. Seems like you definitely got the hang of the Nox. Like you said going from the V3i to the equinox makes the Nox feel like a cakewalk. That would be awesome if you come up with more info on the cut coin even though it looks pretty worn, still a really cool find regardless!
Thanks! I wasnt expecting much since that’s the s’s we 50’ square where I had my coffee mug placed during the hunt I kept showing it i . Kinda crazy how all that stuff just kind of showed up.... really liking this. Just makes me want to go back to all my sites again to see what else is there.
Square Nail Squirrel yeah you are most likely going to get similar outcomes at all your old spots lol. I know I did, that’s why I asked before if you hunted parks. I’ve found a lot of my silver this year at old parks that everyone and their brother has been through. Just something about the Nox that brings the old spots back to life, I’m blown away by it. Probably why I go out digging almost everyday, I know I’ll find something good even if it’s only a wheat or 2 haha. Keep swinging it and you are only gonna like it more and more! I still love the V3i it’s a great machine.. mine just collects dust now sadly, kinda bittersweet but it treated me well for time I was using it primarily.
I´ve seen many people complains about the multi frequency. Some stuffs were unhearted just on mono frequency, and not in multi. I don´t know if the Minelab has released some upgrades. Cheers
Sand Boy Really...? I just purchased a Equinox 800 and I spent months researching different detectors because I could only afford to get one and it needed to last me for several years to come... In all of my research I hadn’t heard any complaints about the multi-frequencies... Would you mind sharing some of the complaints/concerns please as I’m courious now... Thanks and have a great day.
@@troystutsman1400 Search for "equinox coin on the edge". Seems to be very unsharp on that object. For example, X-Terra has a better and stable VDI, while the NOX detects as an "iffy" signal. But as i said, i don´t know, maybe there is an upgrade for this...and new nox come with this one
@@SandBoy408 From my research the coin on edge has been solved. The original release of the software had issues hitting edge coins with the update to the software, which is as simple as plugging your detector up to a USB port and updating with a couple clicks, solved that issue and the machine is good to go. This is what I have found through the internet although I have not experienced any of the issues since my machine came with the new software and I am new to the machine. Thanks for checking the video out as well as commenting.
Congrats on the new detector. The item that you were not sure about at 2:50 is part of a broken reins guide. Yours appears to have an open top rather than the closed circle. Nice find! That may have come from a buggy or work wagon. ;-)
Thank you... I’m very happy with it and it’s really got me excited to get out and hunt. Thank you for the ID on that target... I appreciate when folks on here comment as you did on what items are so we all can learn.
Wow that was a great first hunt for sure. In watching your future videos with the Nox will determine if I want to make the switch. I already like the lightness of this machine. Again I think I can speak for everyone, we really appreciate your hard work and time in making these great videos. Thank you my friend 👍
Thanks Scott, I try my best on these videos and with the new machine I’m spending double time trying to get up to speed to effectively portray the machine. So far... i’ll Just say the 800 has really made a spark of excitement for my desire to get out and hunt. Thanks for checking the video out.
I don't own an equinox, but I have watched a ton of videos with them. One thing I'm not a fan of is the apparent lack of a numbered depth gauge for pinpoint. If I'm hunting in parks for coins I want to know exactly how deep a coin is so I don't have to dig any deeper or bigger hole than I have to and leave the ground pristine.
I did notice that without the numbered depth I was at a loss as to how deep the target is. The Equinox runs with modulation making the deeper targets sound quieter which helps and that’s is disc mode. When in pinpoint I believe it does the same modulation and has a graphic scale as to depth although I haven’t figured what three bars or two bars means... could be 4 or 6”... there isn’t a number associated... which would be nice to have. The V3i and sport do great at this numbered depth.
TheArgos12 I guess that detectorist today are spoiled... I’m 56 and started metal detecting with my father back when I was an early teenager. We had a Compass metal detector which I still have today. It has one knob which adjusts the volume. There were no screens back then, no numbering system that gave you an idea of what was under the ground prior to digging the item, and of course there was no depth meter. Discrimination was just being made available about the second year we were into the hobby. This feature really only worked to rule out pull-tabs but using it also ruled out nickels...! So, we dug every signal and hoped for the best. Through getting involved in the hobby my father became a dealer for Garrett and Compass metal detectors so we got to try out different detectors. At that time, there were only four companies really putting out detectors, Garrett, Compass, White’s, and Fisher who put out a low cost, inferior product back then... I must say that as primitive as detectors were back then, we had some great adventures and some great finds... Everything from Civil War Tokens, all kinds of Silver coins, Wheat Cents, Indians, Large Cents, Halve Dollars, Bunches of Pocket Knifes, Tons of “Miscellaneous Stuff”, we never did find any SilverDollars or Gold Coins, though we did find a 14k Gold Diamond Engagement Ring valued at $750.00 back in the 70’s...! I just purchased a Equinox 800 (Thanks to my Amazing Wife) and haven’t unboxed it as of yet because I’m getting over a cold right now but I’m chomping at the bit to get it out and see what it can do...! I have to say that I believe that some of the Wonderlust has been taken away by the new detectors that tell you how far down and most likely what the item is... I want to say thanks to my father for indulging a young boy’s dreams of finding buried treasure...! I want to say to all of the fathers and grandfathers out there, please consider making the investment in a metal detector and then sharing the adventures that await with your children and grandchildren... You’ll be making a investment in memories that will last a lifetime...! Even if you never find any “Buried Treasure” the time spent with your children and grandchildren will be priceless...!
@troystutsman Wow... thanks for sharing this sort of a lifetime in the hobby. I too am not really looking for the buried treasure... pretty much anything from the past makes me happy... even if it’s a square nail or harmonica reed. Thank you for commenting as well as checking the video out.
It's a pretty hot machine... the language it speaks (it's reactions, data, processing speed, etc.) is it's own creature and will take time to get used to. I believe the AT PRO is a great machine as well and has it's strong points finding great stuff... just look around on youtube... that machine finds awesome stuff every day. Don't get discouraged on your machine because if there is one thing in detecting that gets people down is doubting what they are using. If you know your machine well, make it an extension of your arm and understand what it's telling you in it's language you will be successful out hunting... but... the targets have to be there to find them. Think about how many times you have lost a 10.00 bill... probably not often because you hang tight to those... same goes for 100+ years ago... those folks really held tight to anything silver. Keep at it and if you make the switch I'm sure it will work out for you but don't feel pressured because the AT PRO is also a great machine.
Your cut copper has a little bit of a story to it. So, half of a British Penny is a Half Penny (or haypenny). Half of a Haypenny is a Farthing - which is the smallest denomination of English money during our colonial period. Plenty of Half Pennies and Farthings were manufactured and in circulation in 18th Century England, but in the Colonies, there was a real shortage of coinage (currency shortages actually were part of the reason for the Revolution). For that reason, people would actually cut the Pennies (and presumably, Half Pennies) to make change - just as was done by the mints in England the Spanish Colonies with larger-denomination silver coins for many centuries. In England, they would have never gone to such trouble - nor would it have been considered acceptable or proper to do so. But in America, we are going to make change by golly, even if it means chopping up a penny! Cut coppers are fairly unique to the colonies, for that reason, and they are relatively uncommon. Very nice find.
karamarinara Very cool information...! Thanks so much for sharing this information with us. I love learning about history any time I can. Have a great day and be blessed.
Thank you very much for taking the time to share this about cut coins. I can tell you didn’t copy and paste it and it’s in your own words and it’s grestly appreciated. I am sure that both I and many others who read this learned from it and it will better the hunt as well as understanding of the time period and history of the relics and coins in which we are in search of. 🙂 very cool. I was very happy with finding the coin that I did even if I can’t identify which coin it actually is. I’m thankful to have that site to detect especially since the landowner allows me to come when I please. I hope to revisit there in the fall since I have other sites to try before crops are planted in the very near future. I’m hoping for rain to slow them down although the farmers are all hoping that it will stay dry.
I looked into those and they are kinda pricey for what your getting. If they made blue ones and we’re cheaper I’d get a set. I was going to order carbon shafts a d try to make a set of my own... wouldn’t be the fiber but stranded like a carbon arrow and in 1” OD... runs about 3.00 a linear foot. The issue is the end piece the coil hooks to and the compression lock. Once and if I find time i’ll try to come up with something folks can just make for themselves.
Great Hunt Squirrel! Looking forward to V3i vs Nox ( but I don't think you'll be using v3i or Sport much after this 😀) I love my v3i, but the Nox has the edge although I can ID nickels easier with V3i. I use DeMarco's Patriot waterproof headphones for Nox... comfortable, clear, good sound. WTG Squirrel!
Once I get a better feel for the Nox after some hunting I will makes some vs videos. I need to become more fluent with the machine and make it an extension of my arm.... make sure the playing field is level. Thanks for the name on those headphones... I will make note of them since my grey ghosts are somewhat uncomfortable. I just wish someone would bake headphones that have winter “muff” type ear pieces to keep your ears warm. I told Detector pro about that and they laughed and said “who metal detects when it’s that cold”... I was like.... well.... me 🤪
Minelab should make videos like Garrett did on the AT Pro that explain all of the features and functions of their Equinox 800 as to make the learning curve easier for new users to understand. I've heard a great many people knocking the Equinox 800,but plenty more people singing its praises.Perhaps they think it should be easier like the machines they are used too. Minelab for quite some time has featured cutting edge technology.I was glad to hear about the Equnox when it first was first unveiled at Detectaval in England.Back then Minelab was selling the Equinox faster than they could produce them, and many dealers had them on back order for months.
Thank you. Yes, the area I’m hunting is the same spot where I sat my coffee mug for reference in a previous video with the sport at this site. I’ve also ran the V3i out there in the same spot. This is a large debri field so it’s somewhat shows the performance but to do it more accurately I need a pretty tight area that I’ve previously hunted. I have the perfect spot that’s been hunted by me using the v and the sport many... many times... like so many I made well darn sure there was nothing left. If I go back with the equinox there... I will need to make some changes in what I’m utilizing the most.
Thank you. Thats cool you have a T2... I've watched Aquachigger use one in his older videos and from time to time in modern Garrett times. I hope to eventually add another machine to the mix since this has been a lot of fun learning the Equinox 800. I had in mind the AtMax or Pro as well as the T2 or F75... they all seem like great machines. I look at all the detectors as tools and each very different with individual strong points. Thanks for checking out the video as well as commenting.
I just out found a fellow who was using EQ 800 against my with my FISHER 1280X. We were beach hunting, me 2 gold rings 2.59 in change 1 gold cross w/ gold change. He found 3.12 change 1 IPOD All this after 3 hours hunting. Me 40 years hunting other fellow 2 years ( 6 months with EQ800)
That’s a great haul off the beach... nice going. I’ve never detected a beach before and would like to try someday. I always have been interested in the F75 as another machine to use while out hunting fields. Since your a fisher user... would you recommend one of those?
You mentioned about cleaning coins... I’m sure you’ve heard that you don’t want to clean a coin because of reducing its value. Basically, some soap and water is all you want to use. Even the use of a soft brush can cause scratches on a coin which can mean the difference between a hundred dollar coin and one that’s valued at a thou- sand dollars...! First, you need to determine if the coin is a key date, valuable coin. If so you’ll want to be extremely careful when cleaning it up. If it’s not then you don’t have to be as careful because the value won’t really be affected. I have found that the use of a Sonic Cleaner, the kind used to clean jewelry, can be very affective at removing “Gunk” from coins and other items as well. You can use whatever type of cleaning solution you choose, normally I just use water. I’ve also found that a little bit of “Dawn” dish soap added to the water can be helpful, especially on items coated with clay. I hope that this helps...! I’d like to hear what other people are using to clean their finds...! Have a great day and be blessed. Btw... New to your channel and just subscribed.
Thanks for the info Troy... I've researched and tried many approaches to cleaning coins I find. The silver coins like you say are best to use the detergents and no scrubbing but the copper coins are where better methods are needed. I use a heated sonic cleaner with a jewelry additive in distilled water to help clean periodically when I really need an ID... otherwise I just use a toothpick very gently and some oil... not a coating but a smudge on the kitchen counter and then with another finger (dry) I then transfer barely any oil to the coin just to give relief of the surface. The coppers I have no concern with value because as a detecting find they are just for my pleasure nice a collectors value really isn't retained after corrosion levels we see. I've never sold anything, given away tons but never sold a coin find over the years... I just collect them I guess. I've though about the hobby and why I do it and it's mainly the discovery, adventure exploring and being out in the field to pull up lost items to show folks. Hopefully with you sharing your info it will spark some conversation about cleaning techniques to help myself and others out with their finds. Thanks for sharing and taking the time to do so. I also appreciate the subscription.. I will always keep things educational, entertaining and family friendly on there... glad you joined in. Take care.
Square Nail Squirrel As I always say... Never to old to learn a new trick. I haven’t tried using jewelry cleaner or the oil trick you mentioned. I’ll have to give them a try thanks...! I’m the same way, I have kept everything that I’ve ever found. An Uncle of a childhood friend of mine got both of us into coin collecting when we were about 12 and I’ve enjoyed the hobby all of my life...! My oldest grandson is 10 and I hope to get him started coin collecting in a year or two. Have a great day...! Good luck hunting and be blessed.
Hello for the USA🙂 the shovel I’m using is called a trenching shovel bought at a department store. In the USA the typical store would be a Home Depot or Lowe’s which I think are only US based. There is probably comparable over in your country. The shovels are cheap and work very well... with all the very expensive metal detecting shovels on the market I can’t bring myself to buy one. There really isn’t anything innovative about a shovel... they all dig holes but some cost 80% more than what they should... so I just use the cheap ones. 🙂 I have a video in my video list on how I made mine... it’s cheap and simple and lasts.
I have seen those as well... on Instagram I have seen folks finding cut large cents although I have never seen one in person. I used Andre's pencils to clean this one as well as a heated sonic cleaner to try to pull some details but couldn't. I believe it's a large cent although I am not certain. Thanks for checking the video out.
@@squarenailsquirrel9638 You can't tell what it is, so why not use a Brillo Pad to clean it. You don't have to take of the Patina off the coin, but you will be able to tell what it is at least. I do it on coins that you can't identify.
Thanks... I will have the White's machines out in the future as well. If the Equinox proves to be a great machine it may take the place of my V since it's up to par with modern advances. I will keep the sport around because it excels in places a multi will not. Thank you for checking the video out.
@@kingoffoxez LOL... I kinda like the tones or maybe it's due to the 50 tones I have been using. Some folks on here said it will drive you nuts in which in the future I will try the 5 and see if there is a difference in the hunt.
Hi John... I just make them out of fairly cheap shovels bought at places like Home Depot or Lowe’s. It’s called a trenching shovel. There are many 80.00 to astronomical amounts of $ shovels you can buy specific to detecting although in my opinion... there isn’t much science, engineering, physics and special space age technology about digging a hole. Cheap shovels do a dandy job. 🙂 Dave your money for a machine or pinpointer. I have a video for what I did to cut my shovel down and what to expect during the experience.
@@squarenailsquirrel9638 The fancy all metal detecting shovels do a good job but they are so darn heavy, you don't want to have to carry them very far, like several miles into the woods or fields.
Was curious about the finds pouch you are using. Who makes it? Also, do you find the Nox pinpoints at the very front of the coil by the small, molded-in triangle, or does yours pinpoint at the center of the coil? Mine seems to pp at the very front near the triangle.
If the equinox totally beats out the v in performance i’ll sell it and use the funds to grab the big and small coil for the 800. I don’t need three machines so eventually one will go to help fund my hobby as it advances.
Hay man I’ve been contemplating getting the 800 as far as understanding depth I believe for every triangle on the screen indicates 2” The VDI numbers are narrow on that machine Its probably to early to ask you but what’s your thoughts on it? Do you think that the machine has a tendency to roll left and right in your hand ?
Thank you for the info and I believe you are right... there have been a couple other folks that have mentioned the 2” per block. The target ID numbers are narrow and I actually am liking that... it breaks things down to 1/4’s of the VDI scale and I can tell what range the target is in. I’m not the type that knows a Lincoln penny is a 72 ID but I do know that if the detector is hitting a certain way, the pinpoint depicts a smaller coin sized target and the target ID is in the low to mid 70’s... it’s most likely a Lincoln penny. Hopefully that makes sense. So... if I’m the first block 0-10 I know what to expect, 11-20 same thing and so forth. The separation is mind blowing and the depth achieved has been spectacular... with the limited time I have on the machine I’m confident in saying that I wish I had the machine a long time ago... very pleased.
I told you that machine was the shit. Wait till you hit one of those houses you've pounded before with your other 2 whites machines. You will be amazed to see what whites just could not detect. It makes no sense at all. It probably has to do with the Multi Frequencies and the hi tech processor. Be careful on passing up beeps with that machine. Matron Head Large cents beep different that Classic head large cents (because of alloy difference) . Also, some seated dimes hit low in the 24 range when they are very deep. With me being in upstate NY I find a lot of Canadian silver too and its numbers are different than us coins. Fat indian head pennies will ring up as 15. I haven't found a flying eagle with it yet but a friend did and I think he said it was either a 15 or maybe even a 19. So you should dig all variety beeps with it. You cant leave anything in the ground with that machine to have the best results and most fun ALWAYS DIG 12's Those are nickels and $1 gold coins.. HAVE FUN AND ENJOY!! GREAT VIDEO BTW!
LOL.. so far I really like it but it's only one trip out so far. I will be visiting many sites I've been to before with my Whites machines just to see what happens, it will be kind of nice since there won't be much trash and fairly clean sites. I typically dig anything that repeats and sounds decent with the target ID specifically not being of the main concern. But... I do get excited when they are higher and in the silver range. Thank you for sharing your advise from your experiences with the machine, both I an others can learn from it. I am really excited to get out this coming weekend with the machine since I wasn't able to Easter weekend due to traveling. Thanks for checking out the video and for commenting.
Thank you very much... it was a fun hunt. Pertaining to the weight... the equinox feels like a cup of water compared to a gallon jug... I know it’s just ounces but ounces really count swinging a machine all day. It’s night and day difference between the two.
Thank you and glad you enjoyed the video. I took a screen shot of your suggestions and will check their videos out this coming evening. Thank you for the suggestion... any help is appreciated in getting up to speed with usage. Thanks for checking the video out and take care.
Thank you very much and glad that you enjoyed it. Thank you very much for the subscription and I promise to always keep it educational as well as entertaining on there with a family friendly foundation. Take care.
Lol. I really didn’t want to leave from hunting this day... had to though. I’ll get back out this coming weekend though... wasn’t able to Easter weekend due to traveling. Thanks for checking the video out and take care.
I’m not sure if it is... I haven’t actually found any colonial coins and with the kind of green it has i’m thinking Indian... they seem to have a very specific green. If it is a colonial copper I wish I could identify it. Thank you for commenting and checking the video out.
Great video and yes you and the NOX will get along well...
Thank you... :) so far it has been an awesome experience. Thanks for checking the video out and for commenting.
I just got the equinox 600 and love it!! Great video
I think the more you use the Equinox the more you will love it. Thanks for the midweek video!
Just one more hole! LOL I get it... I like your wrap up a lot. Well done video.
Good video Kenny. Love the cut coin.
I'm glad I could relay the excitement your way... good luck with any hunts you have coming up and thank you for checking the video out. take care.
Nice to see you got a NOX 800 mine will be here in one more day, So keep those NOX videos coming....
Very good hunt. It appears that you are catching on very fast to the Nox 800. Good luck on all your hunts..
Enjoyed your hunt. Looking forward to see how the Equinox works out for you.
Thank you and glad you enjoyed it. I will be out this coming weekend hunting and making another with with the 800. I hope to have it out by Tues or Wed uploaded for viewing. Thank you for checking the video out.. :)
Great finds and a cool hunt. Was that a Weekly Dirt sticker I saw at 11:37 ? Awesome. Thanks bud. 👍
Thank you.. this was a very successful and fun first hunt with the equinox. Typically I’m stumbling around trying to figure out operation versus actually operating when I get a new machine... so the the experience was very nice. For sure!!! I threw the stickers on the side of the both the Equinox and the V3i... thanks for those as well as the exposure on your channel. Keep it up... great work.
Congrats on the Nox! I love mine. It's a real quality machine. GL and HH and thanks for the great vids!
Thank youa d glad that you enjoy the videos. I really like the machine a lo and it’s amazing how many folks on here have one... I was worried people wouldn’t be interested in checking the videos out using one. After making this video it seems the new machine is going to fit in very nicely. Thanks for checking the video out.
great video my friend . also glad to see you join the nox-side...lol look forward to the next.
Thank you. 👍🏻 lol... joining the nox-side. I’m totally into finding stuff and whatever it may be machine wise that finds... that’s what I’d like to operate. So far I think this new machine is going to take care of the finding stuff so i’ll Keep running it and comparing it to what I’ve alwsys used. Kinda nice to have the change. I’ll be back out this coming weekend doing another hunt... hope to pull some nice finds.
nice hunt, nice digging dirt too
Thank you and glad you enjoyed it. I was very pleased to have such a nice day out with easy digging... that shovel slid right in and I could move fast. I hope this coming weekends site holds the same situation because I plan to be there all day. Thanks for checking the video out.
Great hunt very glad you used the 800 I've been considering a change from my MXT, thanks again for a great video.
Thank you.. I had a lot of fun out there using the 800 for the first time. I’ll get better at using the new machine and go over details of use, thinks I may find that I don’t like and then do some in the field comparison hunts on targets in the ground like I did between the V3i and the sport. Thanks for tuning in to check out the video.
Dave, I have an MXT. Thought about changing. Did you go with the 800?
I used the MXT Pro for about 10 years. I bought the equinox 800 two weeks ago. And I love it! Target separation is Amazing and the depth is fantastic. Very sensitive to fine gold aswell. Just ordered the 6" coil can't wait to try it out. Love the channel. Been binge watching. lol.
Another super video! I can't get enough of the HD quality, it's like I am standing next to you. Saw the Shovel How to, waiting on your Tool Pouch.
The first Target was a piece of a reigns guide off of a wagon. Always fun to find.
I had though that but the presence of threads on it made me question. I will have to compare some of my previous ones I've found to it. For some reason i was thinking they just sled into whatever pivot point they attached to but I may be wrong. Thanks for commenting and you are probably correct... at least I knew what it is now. :)
Did you fall in love with the machine like I did, it is awesome! Great finds!
Take care.
Congratulations on the new machine I don't know anything about it but it appears it's going to be a good one. Also good video with great finds.
Equinox is good machine. I like mine. Yes on the big sounds, ignore the little squeaks.
The last hole is never the last hole, UNLESS its something better than a BAZINGA ! Lol I really love the 4K . Thanks for sharing !
LOL... exactly.. always hoping for that big score so I can end the day nicely.
Dave Horlacher
Hi,
Would you mind sharing what your reasons
were for switching...?
Great video. I’m really liking my nox800 I’ve got about 80 hrs on it now. Coming from a Garrett, it’s been a learning curve.
I think we all are on here learning from each other which is great.
wow that machine does great job
I think so too.. it's a different creature than what I have been using and will take some time to get proficient with it although I believe it will help discover many more good targets and improve my hunt. I really like the White's brand of detectors but I don't sell detectors or have any interest in the company.. I just want to find stuff.. pretty much it. :) Thanks for checking out the video.
I hope you continue to use it! I love my EQ800!
I will have it out quite a bit... the machine really has me excited to get out and hunt. Having so much that is different as well as items to learn is a great feeling... just feels good using it as well as comfortable in the hand during use. Thanks for checking the video out.
SUPER video!! I'm glad to see the nox800 out on the hunt. It is a great machine I believe.
Later Bart
Thank you very much and glad you enjoyed it. I'll keep making videos with the 800 through my learning process.. so far.. I absolutely love it and it really has be excited about getting out on new sites as well as my old ones. Thanks for checking the video out.
Nice finds the Equinox is really good machine!
Thank you... first time I’ve ever had a great hunt on the first time out with a machine. Very exciting. Thanks for checking the video out.
Looking to buy a detector and your Minelab is making my choice easier. Love the vids and am always amazed when you recover the Large Cents.
Great video. Nice assortment of relics. Looks like the Minelab took care of business. Happy hunting.
Thank you.. I was very happy with the finds especially since I've hunted that area quite a bit already. I'm going to do another site where I found the trime to see if the Equinox can do the same in that matrix of targets.. thanks for checking out the video and happy hunting to you too. take care.
Great video!
Nice finds with the new machine like the cut coin found my first one this year it was ihp. Hh
Thank you and that's awesome you found one too... I really like finding items I haven't found before even if it's not a coin. Thanks for joining in and checking the video out.
can't beat the nox, i love mine. Great hunt Thanks for sharing HH
HH
Great first hunt with the new machine kenny! Equinox= button finder for sure. Hope you get many more next time and some silver. HH
Thank you! 🙂 it took about the first hour to start feeling the machines responses pretty well and then things sky rocketed up from there being able to locate targets. It’s lretty amazing how well the machine works and with time I can only get better at it hopefully pulling out some great finds. Thanks for checking out the video and take care.
I’m gonna check out one of those machines, heard nothing but good about it.😎
So far my experience with the equinox has been a delight to operate and the performance is great.
Had to watch the first one. NOX is promising from the get-go!
Forgot to mention the link is to a coin cleaning demonstration.
Great video. Thanks!
Thank you. I will be checking it out. I really haven’t cleaned much other than a toothpick to clear up the identity in the past... sometimes when I really need and ID on a coin I’d like to have more options for cleaning. Thanks for helping and sharing your link.
Nice finds today, welcome to the nox club! piedmontartifacts.

Lol.
Thanks for sharing great finds and video my friend.👏👍👍👍
Your very welcome and it’s a pleasure. 🙂 thank you for checking the video out.
,Nice finds on a short hunt,,This Detector is on my future list.

Thank you and glad you enjoyed it. So far it’s been an awesome experience and I’m going to have a hard time using my other machines. I can’t get over the separation when the recovery delay is at 6-7... it’s so awesome what this thing can do. Thanks for checking out the video 🙂
Bit of a learning curve
Yes, going to take some time to get used to although I believe the equinox and I are going to get along just fine. :) If you don't mind will you message back so I know that these messages are going through... I'm not the best on this platform and want to make sure that when the @personsname isn't coming up that it actually notifies that I am making a reply. Square Nail Squirrel you’ll master it in no time, that multi frequency is definitely a game changer. Your videos are great, thanks for sharing 👍
Where can I get a finds pouch like you have? Nice video. Hope you have more equinox videos.
Take care!
Just wait dude this machine is killer!!!!
Ha! So far what what I’ve experienced... I do believe you are right. It will make a great tool to take out to the sites and produce great finds. Thanks for checking the video out and for commenting.
Your going to love your Nox! It is a super deep machine and super sensitive! It's changed detecting for me..I've been at the hobby for 25 years.
@@jeanlucchasse3571 Thank you for the ID on that target it's nice that you took the time comment with your information. Thanks for watching. :)
Cheers
Sand Boy
Really...?
I just purchased a Equinox 800 and I spent
months researching different detectors because
I could only afford to get one and it needed to last
me for several years to come...
In all of my research I hadn’t heard any complaints
about the multi-frequencies...
Would you mind sharing some of the complaints/concerns
please as I’m courious now...
Ordering the 600 on Friday
I don't own an equinox, but I have watched a ton of videos with them. One thing I'm not a fan of is the apparent lack of a numbered depth gauge for pinpoint. If I'm hunting in parks for coins I want to know exactly how deep a coin is so I don't have to dig any deeper or bigger hole than I have to and leave the ground pristine.
Yes, i agree. Equinox pinpoint is not so sharp
@@squarenailsquirrel9638 In some video i´ve seen that 1 bar = 2 inches

I guess that detectorist today are spoiled...
I’m 56 and started metal detecting with my
father back when I was an early teenager.
We had a Compass metal detector which I
still have today.
It has one knob which adjusts the volume.
There were no screens back then, no numbering
system that gave you an idea of what was under
the ground prior to digging the item, and of course
there was no depth meter.
Discrimination was just being made available about
the second year we were into the hobby.
This feature really only worked to rule out pull-tabs but
using it also ruled out nickels...!
So, we dug every signal and hoped for the best.
Through getting involved in the hobby my father became
a dealer for Garrett and Compass metal detectors so we got
to try out different detectors.
At that time, there were only four companies really putting out
detectors, Garrett, Compass, White’s, and Fisher who put out a
low cost, inferior product back then...
I must say that as primitive as detectors were back then, we had
some great adventures and some great finds...
Everything from Civil War Tokens, all kinds of Silver coins, Wheat
Cents, Indians, Large Cents, Halve Dollars, Bunches of Pocket Knifes,
Tons of “Miscellaneous Stuff”, we never did find any SilverDollars or Gold
Coins, though we did find a 14k Gold Diamond Engagement Ring valued at
$750.00 back in the 70’s...!
I just purchased a Equinox 800 (Thanks to my Amazing Wife) and haven’t unboxed it as of yet because I’m
getting over a cold right now but I’m chomping at the bit to get it out and see
what it can do...!
I have to say that I believe that some of the Wonderlust has been taken away
by the new detectors that tell you how far down and most likely what the item
is...
I want to say thanks to my father for indulging a young boy’s dreams of finding
buried treasure...!
I want to say to all of the fathers and grandfathers out there, please consider
making the investment in a metal detector and then sharing the adventures that
await with your children and grandchildren...
You’ll be making a investment in memories that will last a lifetime...!
Even if you never find any “Buried Treasure” the time spent with your children and
grandchildren will be priceless...!
@troystutsman Wow... thanks for sharing this sort of a lifetime in the hobby. I too am not really looking for the buried treasure... pretty much anything from the past makes me happy... even if it’s a square nail or harmonica reed. Thank you for commenting as well as checking the video out.
I want one I'm convinced it's better than the AT.Pro
Square Nail Squirrel i’ve used the AT for 4 years and i’m not sure of the equinox but I know the faults in the Atpro 😎

Very cool information...!
U need the carbon fiber shafts from rods by plugger
I looked into those and they are kinda pricey for what your getting. If they made blue ones and we’re cheaper I’d get a set. I was going to order carbon shafts a d try to make a set of my own... wouldn’t be the fiber but stranded like a carbon arrow and in 1” OD... runs about 3.00 a linear foot. The issue is the end piece the coil hooks to and the compression lock. Once and if I find time i’ll try to come up with something folks can just make for themselves.
Great Hunt Squirrel!
Looking forward to V3i vs Nox ( but I don't think you'll be using v3i or Sport much after this 😀)
I love my v3i, but the Nox has the edge although I can ID nickels easier with V3i. I use DeMarco's Patriot waterproof headphones for Nox... comfortable, clear, good sound. WTG Squirrel!
Your using the nox wrong if you are hitting nickels easier with a v3i. Put it on gold mode 2 and you will never miss a nickel again.
I was like.... well.... me 🤪
@@larrywardlow2777 thanks for the tip...I will try that. Had not heard of that approach to nickels with the Nox
Great Video! Did you go over the same area as you did with the other detectors?
Nice vid! I have a nox also and for coin hunting I like my t2 se a little bit better. Both are great machines.
Where are you at friend?
You mentioned about cleaning coins...
I’m sure you’ve heard that you don’t want
to clean a coin because of reducing its value.
Basically, some soap and water is all you want
to use.
Even the use of a soft brush can cause scratches
on a coin which can mean the difference between
a hundred dollar coin and one that’s valued at a thou-
sand dollars...!
First, you need to determine if the coin is a key date,
valuable coin.
If so you’ll want to be extremely careful when cleaning it up.
If it’s not then you don’t have to be as careful because the value
won’t really be affected.
I have found that the use of a Sonic Cleaner, the kind used to clean
jewelry, can be very affective at removing “Gunk” from coins and other
items as well.
You can use whatever type of cleaning solution you choose, normally I
just use water.
I’ve also found that a little bit of “Dawn” dish soap added to the water
can be helpful, especially on items coated with clay.
Take care.

As I always say...
Never to old to learn a new trick.
I haven’t tried using jewelry cleaner
or the oil trick you mentioned.
I’ll have to give them a try thanks...!
I’m the same way, I have kept everything
that I’ve ever found.
An Uncle of a childhood friend of mine got
both of us into coin collecting when we were
about 12 and I’ve enjoyed the hobby all of my
life...!
My oldest grandson is 10 and I hope to get him
started coin collecting in a year or two.
Have a great day...!
Good luck hunting and be blessed.
Love the vids
hi from Romania.....what kind of shovel is that? thanks and happy hunting with the nox ;)
Is this metal detector can detect if gold searching only.
great
Thank you and glad that you enjoyed the video. 🙂
The cut coins I have seen are Spanish Reales. Good Treasure Hunt. Take care
I'll support you, even if you use the Equinox......!
What is your shovel tool called and where can I get one? 👍
Overload in spectrav3i good or bad? Whats mean over load?
Get the big coil.
If the equinox totally beats out the v in performance i’ll sell it and use the funds to grab the big and small coil for the 800. I don’t need three machines so eventually one will go to help fund my hobby as it advances.
Got an equinox and I miss your videos can’t believe you let stupid ppl bother you 😢come back I’ll be here
Hay man I’ve been contemplating getting the 800 as far as understanding depth I believe for every triangle on the screen indicates 2”
The VDI numbers are narrow on that machine Its probably to early to ask you but what’s your thoughts on it?
Tha ls for sharing
It was a pleasure, thanks for tuning in to check it out. :)
Congrats on the finds !
How’s the weight of the Nox compared to the V3
Thank you very much... it was a fun hunt. Pertaining to the weight... the equinox feels like a cup of water compared to a gallon jug... I know it’s just ounces but ounces really count swinging a machine all day. It’s night and day difference between the two.
Nice hunt! May I suggest watching TH-cam video series by Relic Dirty Hands on the Equinox!!
Thank you and glad you enjoyed the video. I took a screen shot of your suggestions and will check their videos out this coming evening. Thank you for the suggestion... any help is appreciated in getting up to speed with usage. Thanks for checking the video out and take care.

The thin copper kind of looks like a colonial copper maybe.
I’m not sure if it is... I haven’t actually found any colonial coins and with the kind of green it has i’m thinking Indian... they seem to have a very specific green. If it is a colonial copper I wish I could identify it. Thank you for commenting and checking the video out.
Square Nail Squirrel it looks bigger than an Indian. Is it the same size as a modern penny?
