Kozlov, I can't thank you enough for completing this video. For some reason this piece by Bach really moves me....but I found myself stuck reading the notes since my sight reading is not very good. With this video done slowly I will be able to figure out the parts that were difficult for me. Also I believe you have the best teaching method, of any instructor on-line, by doing the SLOW and then regular speed videos. Furthermore, I am pretty certain that you are the only instructor who demonstrates this Bach piece slowly. I am anxious to get home after work so that I can use this video. Thank you so much !!! Perry Ross Kingston, Ontario Canada
I am so glad to hear and watch this video. When I told my teacher that I hoped one day to be able to play suite number one, she said that I would be better off learning the minuet first. This so well done that when I get the sheet music, it will be of great value in helping me learn it. Thank you.
Every time I play a piece I always listen to your recordings. Especially this one because it is slow. Other videos I find are always fast. Thank you for recoding these videos. They always help me in playing the cello!
Ok Maxim, in here. I'm not a Suzuki cello girl (I found the score in book 4) but a Dotzauer's girl because that's the method may teacher decided for me. No problem! I'm struggling like anyone else. Trying to get a bit, at least a note of nice sound. Your video helps me a lot, I love Bach so much. Thank you
I think you are talking about bowings, correct? There are so many different ways to play Bach. Most of experienced cellists choose to use their own "unique" bowings. I am trying to use the bowings from well known editions. I believe I use Barenreiter edition for this recording. When I perform Bach suites in life concerts, I often change bowings - nothing stays the same in our life :)
Thank you for this, I'm working on my intonation so I thought listening to it might help, but all the videos I found were all really fast and I wanted something slower so I could really pay attention to the notes. This is closer to the tempo I'm currently playing these at, so it's really helpful. I would also like to say your tone and overall sound of these is absolutely beautiful and I hope to play them like this one day.
Kozlov, I am so thankful that you have posted this. I'm an adult beginner, in my first year, and am about to learn these minuets. This is exactly what I needed. God bless.
Thank you very much for this video! I am about to start this piece, and this was a very helpful example. Loved the tempo, it was easy to hear every note clearly. Again, thank you!
Thanks for making this! I can't thank you enough! I am working on minuet no.2, but I can't quite grasp how to play it. I keep on forgetting what signature it is in, and play wrong sharps and flats. But with this, I now understand it! No wonder my teaher told me to listen to slow tempo songs if I couldn't really read them. And, once again, thank you VERY much!
Your video is such a great help to figure out the fingering. I love this piece so much, and I am so happy to be able to learn it with you ❤ your videos are the best, I always check on your channel first when learning a new piece 😊
Thank you so much for the many videos you have made. They have helped my son and I learn cello together. A question: With this video you do do the bowing and slurring differently from our edition of Suzuki 4 (the most recent edition) Is there a reason or is it personal preference?
Thank you! I am so happy to be of help. Yes, I am using different bowings/fingerings as I mentioned in the description. There are way more reputable editions of Bach cello suites - Barenreiter, Henle, etc. They are the source of inspiration for me. Music of Bach is so complex that it requires more personal, thoughtful approach, which every cellist should achieve after years of experience. I am sure you will feel it this way too.
@@Cellopedia Thank you for your reply. I also have Berenreiter and have played some of the other movements from there. I will have a look at that one as well.
Thank you so much. You have been my go-to touchstone with the Allemande for a long time. I'm trying to learn to play all of Suite 1 before I die. This slow version of the minuet is invaluable. I'm in remote part of Australia with no internet so I have had to download the video to play off-line. I hope this is OK with you? Simon Pockley Warrumbungles Australia
Dear Simon, what a treat to learn the entire suite on your own! I am so happy you find my videos useful to accomplish this. My heart is with all Australian people with their fight with wild fires. It breaks my heart to see your incredible country having to go through it.
@@Cellopedia Thank you. I was burnt out by bush fire 7 years ago and lived in a tent (with my cello) for 2 years while I rebuilt. I practice every morning. Bach has been my consolation. The birds quite like Bach too. I really appreciate you sharing your skill. You have reached some remote places: www.duckdigital.net/Wheoh/index.php
Thank you! I intentionally performed it much slower - there are so many wonderful recordings in real tempo, but it often makes a cello student confused to hear a piece in the final tempo.
Sorry, in the beginning of the second minuet, wouldn't e-flat sound better in the bass? E natural there seems to be a clear mistake by Anna Magdalena, isn't?
Unfortunately, I can not just type these numbers here. The best way is to get a printed copy with fingerings. They might be different, but there are many ways to play it. Try to search for Bach on www.imslp.org

Happy to hear it! What are you going to learn next?
@@Cellopedia I am going to start practicing the first movement - Prelude of Suite no. 1. This one is my favorite. Though I do like the entire suite.

Hi.Im.Sophie If you have not had the recital yet good luck.
