People either a) don't want to say b) aren't sure what counts as a sex partner, or c) get blackout drunk.
Sometimes this is trauma related. I've been with 7 or less but the actual number is fuzzy because it started with a trauma. Then I started sleeping around as a form of denial and I was so dissociated at that point that for the couple months where I got all my partners from, it's a fuzzy blur. I can try to think back and get the actual number, but I start to heavily dissociate so I just don't.

Body counts do matter in the prospect of a relationship. But not in the way most people think. You're not any better or worse depending on how many partners you've had. But people do view and treat sex differently. For instance it could be a reflection on your libido, as well as if you view sex as something "serious" (e.g. emotionally driven, saved for relationships) or not (e.g. hookups, one night stands). Ultimately it ends up being about compatibility.
Except people with high body counts will NEVER be suitable for long term relationships. That’s what the statistics show.

I don't think I'm ugly or anything, but my number was 0 until age 27. Not for any moral, religious or other reasons. It's not that I didn't want to, I'm just an extreme introvert and didn't participate in social activities like going to bars or parties practically at all in my entire life. Maybe it’s because my number is 0 but I never understood how people say they lost count of their sexual encounters. I can understand not remembering every detail about the other person but I feel like there is a lot of build up before you actually have sex with a person even it’s just a hook up I just don’t get how you “lose count” of that number or even have the time for so many people.
So… I keep a list. And every now and again I revisit it. When I do, I find myself trying hard to remember some of those people. I’m 75 years old. This video got me to tally up my partners. Arrived at 13, but since meeting my present partner 46 years ago, I’ve been monogamous (as has he).
When I was young, before I met the man who turned out to be my forever partner, I feared getting pregnant. I used birth control, but it failed once (had a legal abortion that I’ve never regretted, even though I have no kids). This fear stopped me from having a lot of sex.
How is life like without kids? I don’t want children cuz childbirth terrifies me but I also don’t want to be alone in old age.
@@bjkl9936 Life without kids has been pretty good. My partner and I are both artists and have always just scraped by. We never had a burning desire to have kids. I like kids and sometimes feel bad that we never tried to have them, but I also never wanted to be responsible for a kid. As a woman, I know how much a kid takes out of a mother (of course, kids also give an enormous amount of joy, but they can also cause a lot of grief). Yes, to your point, my guy is now 80. I do worry about our not having children to help us as we get even older (I hope we do!). But I’m still not regretful about being childless (I don’t say childfree). And some parents end up with kids who go no-contact or who don’t care about their parents.
If fear of childbirth is the only thing stopping you, I’d rethink that. I too was scared of childbirth or even the rigors of being pregnant. But there’re meds for pain. I think “natural” childbirth is ridiculous. Why not have “natural” surgery? Pain meds don’t affect the baby. Why suffer? I hope that method dies out. It’s just another way to convince women to hurt themselves.

I do worry about being sick and having no kids to help, and my friends and brother are all over 70. I figure that we’ll deal with that when it happens. And having kids is no guarantee that they’ll help you.
However, if your only reason for not having kids is fear of a painful birth, you can use anesthesia and meds to give birth. I don’t know why women have “natural” childbirth. No one has “natural” surgery. Now that there are ways to have relatively pain-free births that don’t affect the baby, why not use that?

Please don't feel that way. There's nothing wrong with having standards. If you ever get a serious partner, he or she is going to appreciate you not sharing your body like it's free pie.
Also don't think people with high counts don't have standards. I'm polyamorous, and I only sleep with people who get tested quarterly. I sleep with people who are good communicators and are safe. No matter how many people you have slept with, there are people like me who would not judge you or place value on you based on that. Your value doesn't not come from your perspective on your genitals.
@@greyrock9747 the reason why people say that is mostly because of looks or personality standards. there aren't that many people who fit the bill for selective people, and it's better to be seen as selective than not as far as I see.
