My wife and I sailed on the Norwegian Dawn for my wife’s birthday in March 2022 and absolutely loved that ship. We prefer the smaller ships compared to the larger ships
This cruise ship is in the news for abandoning their guests in Africa cause they went on a tour that ended up being late getting back. The tour company called the cruise ship, the coast guards brought the passengers to the ship but the captain refused to let them back on. What a petty clown 🤡 I would never take a cruise on this ship.
wonder if it will ever be doing carribean sailings again, went on this when i was 7 and would love to check it out again as an adult. i feel down on the stairs at the kids pool on the green dinosaur i believe and still carry the scar lol
I’m so happy I ran into this video. Before I found your video I was reading a lot a lot of negative reviews about the Dawn especially about the food so now I’m really confused.
I think the main thing that is happening is that different people have different tastes and people tend to be negative on social media. A few quick ideas: 1) In the dining rooms, ask the waiter what they think is good. If it matches something you were thinking about, that's a good sign. 2) If you don't like something you tried - don't eat it. Get something else. Be nice and the waiter will try their best to accommodate you. 3) If you got any free specialty dining (through free at sea fare or some other way), definitely use it. The Dawn has Steakhouse, Italian, French, Brazilian Steakhouse, and Hibachi. They are all amazing and the service is exceptional. 4) Try the complimentary Chinese restaurant (Bamboo) for dinner if you like Chinese food. Just know you have to get there early or you will need to be patient and wait. 5) We avoid the buffet when it's crowded. 6) Finally, and this is personal 😀, try the Reuben in O'Sheehan's.
Hello. Thanks for the video. Can you please advise if the irish pub has a pool table or bowling like in the bigger ships? We have teenagers and are trying to see what is available to help keep them entertained.
No pool table or bowling. Good observation on your part regarding the fact that the larger ships are more likely to have things like that. Still, our teenagers had a great time in the evenings with the main theatre shows, live music, karaoke, and game shows. They didn't do much with the Entourage teen club, but that is an option as well.
@@iconic-adventures Cruised aboard the ship with teens and they were fine. There were other teens to do things with. Just because the newer, bigger ships have more stuff doesn't mean it is necessary for teens to have a good time.
Elements (which incorporates the acrobats and magician that will perform on other evenings), Showdown (mock singing competition that Norwegian has announced is leaving in November - which if they replace it with something else performed by the main cast that will be a win), and Soul Rockin' Nights.
Port Stops included: Roatán (Bay Islands), Honduras; Harvest Caye, Belize (NCL Private Island); Costa Maya, Mexico; and Cozumel, Mexico. When we are with our kids we don't like to venture far from the ship. So, except for Harvest Caye, which is fantastic, we pretty much stayed in the port or on the ship. Our review/tour of Harvest Caye is here: th-cam.com/video/4RNa00g3Kbw/w-d-xo.html
Great information and direction for our upcoming cruise on the Dawn. My ‘first time on a cruise ship’ wife is AT EASE now. Excellent video. one question.. how much stock do you have in NCL? 😅 Keep em coming. Planning on a lot more cruise’s.
It would have been perfect if they also have pickleball courts. Pickleball is becoming more and more popular around the world and most cruisers love playing pickleball.
It is a bad decision of renovating the observation desk! It was beautiful place to relax, and observe the beautiful ocean on the ship. They just lost My loyalty. I am moving to princess. 😢 the person who made the decision should be retired. 😮
I've read bad stories of people being left behind, and the captain still not allowing them on board, even though it was in his power to allow it, without causing any inconvenience. To me that is very bad hospitality.
Well, you should think of it like a commercial airline with its departure time. The door closes to the airplane about 15 minutes prior to departure and they won’t let you on after that. The ship has a departure time and they have to close the gangway prior to that time. The all aboard times are well known and you need to ensure that that you are onboard before that time.
@@iconic-adventures This is taken from the stuff news website it reads: When they reached the port, Campbell said the ship was still anchored, and the island’s coast guard took them on a boat to a ship in order to get back onboard. The captain then allegedly refused to let them board. "The Harbor Master tried to call the ship. The captain refused the call," Jay Campbell told WRAL."We sent emails to Norwegian Cruise Line, the NCL customer service emergency number, and they said, well, the only way for us to get in touch with the ship is to send them e-mails, and they're not responding to our emails. “The captain could have made an easy decision to turn one of the tender boats back, pick us up, safely load us and then go on the way,” Campbell said.“They had no port to call for the next day, they were simply going to be at sea.” This just shows how cold the captains heart was to it's guests. Especially seeing the people could've easily boarded the ship as the harbour master delivered them to the ship. It wasn't a safety issue. He just didn't want to let them on board. Personally I would never take up a holiday with these people, because how assuring is it to know that the people who are looking after you, will go out of their way for you if the situation called for it. Yes these people were late because of the tour guide. so the fault is with them. But it still shows the cold heart of the people tasked to look after you. That alone is a red flag.
Leaving on the Dawn in a couple of weeks. This video was a great introduction to the ship. Thanks for making it
Have fun!

Thanks for your video! I’m sailing on this ship in November!
Hope you enjoy it!
We just got done with a cruise on the Norwegian Jade and enjoyed it so much, that we booked our next cruise for 2025 and it will be on the Dawn.
Nice!
My first cruise was on the Dawn! Many years ago!
Me too in the 80"s I think. Before the renovation.
@@jesusvalencia3450 Couldn't have been the Dawn. The 1980s NCL ships look nothing like this. This ship was built around 2001 I think.
Thanks for this video im going there next week Sept 5 to 15 2024
Hope you enjoy it!

This was very informative and well filmed. Could you, please, let me know what the main / cast productions were in the theatre?

Nice Video, cant wait to cruise with her
Thanks for the comment. It's a nice ship and the staff was great.
Can you tell me about the ports the Dawn stops, do they have easy access to the city?

We will be cruising on November 4 to November 14 ,2023 in this ship .Thank you .❤
Awesome. Enjoy your cruise. 😀

Agree. What I've seen some cruise lines do is put temporary nets on the basketball court with the appropriate stripes added to the court.
good video but the most important thing left out. the cabins
Good point. We did do a video for our cabin: th-cam.com/video/jruYwNuSMJQ/w-d-xo.html
Going in 6 days.
Have a great trip. 👍
How was it?
It is sad that they renovated the observation deck to make more cabin 😢. What an awful move! 😢😢

All cruise lines make changes to ships we don't like. Some of the changes to a lot of the ships I like annoy me as well. But most of them do.
A great video but am, as always, disgusted to see people putting towels on chairs before the sun is even up 🤬😤😤
I agree it's a problem and definitely a challenge for the cruise line because they will make some group mad no matter what they do.
the motion is all stuttery. you probably recorded in 30 or 60 frames per second, but exported video in 24...

I heard ,the food is fishy , Chinese style, and restaurants are booked before you want to apply 🤔
Whoever you are listening 👂 to is not giving you good advice🤪
