Walk with me | Ep. 3 - Shimla, Himachal Pradesh | Grab Quick Hot Coffee On A Cool Rainy Mall Road

July, 2023 | Shimla, Himachal Pradesh: This video starts at the oldest hotel of Shimla, Thee Grand Hotel. On a gray, dark, potentially rainy afternoon he head for a stroll towards the famous mall road of Shimla.
Shimla was built as a British outpost in this Himalayan region in the early 1800s and grew to become not only one of the most important hill stations but also one of the most important cities overall in the British Indian territory. This is because Shimla had become the summer capital of the entire country from mid 1800s until the 1930s, with majority of the calendar year spent running the country from Shimla and not from Delhi or Kolkata.
As for our walk, we take a short stroll downhill and reach the level of the mall road which is not too far from the hotel. The mall road wears a deserted look this late afternoon because the day was a big public holiday in the country. While most shops are closed we find the Indian Coffee House still open and functioning and so we make a stop for some hot strong coffee. We choose a seat by a lovely window which shows the view downhill as well as the view of the dark clouds just above us as well as in the distance.
Just after the coffee we realize that the late afternoon is giving way to a stormy rainy early evening. Hence, we decide to head back to the safely of our hotel. At the hotel we watch it rain and pour over the once summer capital of India. The video ends here.
