Walk with me | Ep. 8 - Goa Returns | Fontainhas - A Piece of Portugal in India | Goa | India
rahulvverma@gmail.com | Goa, July, 2024 : This video takes us all back to Goa for a quick visit of maybe a couple of videos that cover things we missed the last time we were here. This is a supplementary series to the one we already saw as part of the Goa series many months ago. To be honest I am sure most of you have not watched the earlier videos which is okay.
In this video we start our walk towards the Portugese Quarter of Goa, called the Fontainhas. This is a historic neighborhood of the Indian state that is recognized by UNESCO as a heritage zone. Our walk soon takes us past beautiful pastel colored houses that transport us into what seems like a small European town. The architecture here is very clearly Portugese / European and stands out as very unexpected and very charming for the beach paradise that is Goa.,
Our walk soon takes us to St. Sebastian Chapel that was built in the 1800s and that stands out for its iconic white color. We spend the rest of the hot afternoon walking around and exploring more of the charming houses of this neighborhood and we witness the rising gradient adjacent to this neighborhood that results from the nearby Altinho Hill. Fontainhas is nestled between this hill on one side and the Ourem Creek on the other, lower side.
After some walking around in the hot and humid Goa afternoon we take a pit stop at a nearby cafe here, a cafe that is setup within a traditional Fontainhas house. We enjoy a nice air conditioned time here while sipping a hot cappuccino coffee. After the pit stop we step out for another nice stroll in the area but soon our limited time in Fontainhas ends. We walk past the iconic 31st January Street that is one of the many streets named after a historic date. 31st January coincides with a date for a historic revolution in Portugal.
The videos ends just a few steps ahead of this 31st January Street. We will try to get back to this charming place another time and maybe explore it better and deeper.

Hey buddy, I have watched tones of virtual walking channels and I have to say your channel has the most unique style ! Your narrative and your smooth camera transition are your plus points. 👍 P/S: Just reaching out to fellow creators hoping to make new friends. 😀
Hey Camera Lady :) Thank you so much for this very sweet comment. I am happy that you liked watching my video. It’s definitely great to make friends with fellow creator :)
Hi brother , Let’s collaborate
Hey! - That sounds like a wonderful idea :) Let’s talk more on email? Mine is rrahulvverma@gmail.com
It’s disappointing when you are not able to show the buildings in their full glory. These narrow lanes of old delhi are hardly mesmerising.
Trying to get better at what I do with each passing day. In the meantime maybe you should visit Old Delhi in person some time, Ashok. I’m sure being there in person is more mesmerizing than anything else :)
Very nice vlog ,looking at the sunset reminds me that I am in goa right now …Just beautiful 😊🙌😇
Wow. Thanks for watching and for that sweet comment :) I’m so happy that you liked this.

Thank you, Dilshad ji. You can watch the full video by searching TH-cam with “Walk with me Old Delhi Ep. 15”. Or you can use this link - th-cam.com/video/Vt5vUokBDnc/w-d-xo.htmlsi=4dPObHn_c9jnYs_q
Very good explanation bro.Thanks
Thanks a lot, Dilshad ji :)
You just create a vibe! A vibe that I love :)
Thank you :)))) Just trying, Hardik. Hope I can get better at this!
My alma mater, my high school, is in Delhi 6! Your walks through the streets of Delhi, especially central and old Delhi, are like a time machine for me. 🤗
Have you covered Jogiwara or Maliwara in any of your videos? Or Ballimaran? 😊
I've been watching all your videos, and I just wanted to say how much I appreciate your work! Your walks through the streets of Delhi bring back so many beautiful childhood memories for me. Your dedication to capturing the essence of Delhi is truly commendable. Even if it feels like your work isn't getting the appreciation it deserves right now, know that you are creating a valuable video diary that will be cherished for years to come. I am so thankful that I discovered your channel and look forward to every new video you post. Wish you had an Instagram account. Keep up the amazing work, and I wish your channel all the success-it deserves to blow up!!!
Thanks again for this sweet and inspiring comment! :) And thanks for watching so many of my videos. This makes me excited to walk more and make more of such videos. I make these videos because I truly enjoy my walks and enjoy the whole creative process of bringing these walks to life in the videos. This is what keeps me going and keeps me wanting to get better. I know my subscribers aren’t growing as much as one would like haha…but that’s okay. I am enjoying doing this and will keep getting better hopefully :) As for Instagram…you are right that I don’t really have an active insta for this. Using TH-cam shorts for now. But maybe at some point I will get the insta working as well. But wow…thanks again for all your love here. Happy exploring!
@@awalkwithmeee 🙌🏼
I can’t thank you enough for posting this video! It brought back so many beautiful childhood memories for me. My grandparents used to live in one of six the bungalows on Basant Lane, right behind the swimming pool, in the 1980s. My grandpa worked for Indian Railways, and I remember the serene environment and the warm community of that area. Watching this vlog made me nostalgic and reminded me of those cherished times. I wonder if the bungalow and the pool are still there. Thank you again for this wonderful trip down memory lane!
I spent all my childhood in central Delhi, around the Pankuiyan Road, Lady Hardinge College area, Minto bridge, Paharganj, and, of course, my heart's favorite, Basant Lane. We used to watch movies at the Plaza Theatre and loved eating at Nirula’s, especially their 21 Love ice cream! 😊
Wow! :) That you for watching and for leaving such a heartfelt and beautiful comment on my video. I am sooooo happy to know that you could connect with the visuals in this video and could even go down the memory lane and revisit your old memories from these streets. Comments such as yours makes these videos worth all the effort :)
CP is my nightmare. Avoid going there at all costs.
Do a walk of the burari house.
Sure. Where exactly in Burari is this located?
Is this where an insane royal family perished?
love the vibe of Panjim
Thanks, Prerna :)
Love you English, I wish I could speak in such way, watched lot of travel videos of youtubers, yours's one is unique, I feel experiencing the lanes as you walk and explain, please post more videos and more often, exploring different parts of India and also abroad.
Thank you for watching and for your beautiful comment on my video. Seeing this really brightens up my day :) It is great to know that you felt like you were experiencing the lanes with me…that is exactly what I want to do :) 🥹 I hope to definitely keep making more such videos and keep getting better. Thanks

Thanks for watching and leaving this comment :) Glad you liked it. Wishing you well for your project.
😍Thanks for sharing this, "a walk with mec, I've been to these lanes last month itself, Was Not my 1st time Everyone their was so loving, caring and respectful, Sad state of affairs that some politicians have nothing except hatred for people who built this, who have extended so much love for the community and legends have left a heartwarming memories which can never be erased practically.
Hi Manu - Thanks for watching and for sharing this very thoughtful and absolutely correct point on Old Delhi and the unfortunate politics played around religion in our country. We can hopefully separate the fact from the fiction that some politicians sell us :) Thanks for the comment once again. Loved seeing this.
@@awalkwithmeee pleasure is all mine for getting your video on my TH-cam feed, Have been a channel owner myself but left making videos after 34k subs, due to business vs Job reasons. @manukalias Thanks so much for this :) I am not in Delhi right now but will definitely love to catch up for the advice once I am in Delhi.
Wish You could do such professional walks in Darjeeling, Gantok, Shimla, Siliguri and other mountainous cities
Thanks for this comment. Your suggestion sounds very beautiful and very interesting. I have visited Shimla. You can search “walk with me shimla“ to find those videos. But I would love to visit all those places some time soon. Hop to spend enough time exploring and recording them :)

Haha. Haaaan bhai..thik keh rahe ho. Kehte toh aala hi hain. Maine aise aalon mein chhote chhote mandir dekhe hain Chandni Chowk mein…jaise ghar mein hote hain. Isliye socha yaha bhi waisa mandir hi hoga. Thanks for watching and commenting.

Thanks for your wonderful and informative comments, Harish. Looks like you know the area very well 👌🏽 :) As for the road names and other info, I did use Google Maps to double check everything I spoke but it could be possible that Google is also sometimes a little incorrect. Thanks for sharing all this valuable info. Do you stay in Chandni Chowk? Your knowledge of the area makes me think maybe you do stay there.
Can you please explore Tughlaqabad Fort in Delhi?
