    Yo, MRI Man, I just got done with my first semester of my MRI program, and I'm currently working as a tech assistant. Do you think 2 years experience as a tech assistant (along with my degree) is enough to get a travel tech position right out of school?

    • @MRIMan
      @MRIMan  3 ปีที่แล้ว +4

      Awesome ! Congrats! I think as long as you could scan with little assistance needed you'll be good. Especially as a traveler. If you show up to a interview with confidence and say your ready to go, they will definitely give you a shot, they more than likely will train you for a couple week's too

      Cool! Welcome to the channel! We'll if you go the rad route you can get licensed in other modalities. It's a longer route but in the long run you will be able to get in a hospital easier and make more money. But you gotta ask yourself if you wanna do xray, procedures and CT. Either way you'll be good!

    • @Nick-kp7oi
      @Nick-kp7oi 3 ปีที่แล้ว

      @@devan4thepeople I’m not switching from one to the other. I just have 2 schools near me that allow you to get the rad tech 2 year degree, and then transfer to the MRI school which is a 9 month program. I just like the idea of magnetism over radiation, and slightly more money. I’ve also scoped out some websites for travel MRI positions, and it seems pretty wide open right now. I currently work in an unrelated field at the moment.

    I am preparing to apply for school by retaking some pre-reqs to up my grades and be more competitive for the program. If I'm accepted to both X-ray and MRI school, I'm choosing MRI. So is there anything I can watch on TH-cam that can help prepare me for class? I want to get a general understanding before going into school so that I'm not overwhelmed in trying to understand everything, as well as studying and memorizing information.

Really wish to be a Mri tech and also like to do masters in it. Is it any way to get into it quickly along with masters in European countries and Australia ?

    Hi, MRI Man. I am going to a community college, looking to apply to the Radiologic Technology program. I will have completed almost all my pre-requisite to apply next cycle except for one. I missed a pre-requisite because I had COVID and tried to switch my class to be online. Unfortunately, the class was full and I couldn't take it this semester. Because of this, I have to wait until 2023 to apply to the Radiologic Technology program. I'm a little sad about this. Is it worth trying to talk to the program chair about the one missing class to see if they could make an exception?

      I'm also in LA and interested in MRI, been doing some research. Not sure if you looked into CBD college, it's a nonprofit school in LA that has an MRI program and from what I have seen online it's cheaper than Casa Loma. If you happen to be near the San Gabriel Valley area, Pasadena City College has a Radiologic Technology,and apparently, the program has no waitlist. It's about a two-year full-time program once you complete the prerequisite courses.

      If you don't mind doing x-rays , id Go for xray first. Soo u can cross get licensed in other modalities. It's all preference. The more you know the easier it is to get hospital jobs.

    • @melissa7645
      @melissa7645 2 ปีที่แล้ว

      @@MRIMan A lot of x-rays recommend to go straight into MRI if possible. From your experience so far, you think doing x-ray first and then going into MRI would be most beneficial if we want to land a hospital job? I'm assuming hospitals provide better pay. My main concern with that is employers somehow "maxing you out" and low key overworking you if you're cross-trained in other modalities, is that too far-fetched?
