  • The key to this whole thing are the Pillow Block Bearings (3/4"). Picked up two of them on Amazon and mounted them to a 1x2 with a 3/4" hole drilled through the middle. This slides onto the 3/4" rod mounted to the top of the 2x4 with some electrical conduit brackets. All together the hardware cost me about $30 in July of 2023. I already had the steel base and wood.
Still experimenting with the placement and amount of weight on the bottom to find the optimal swing speed and presentation.
    Parts:
    (2) Pillow Block Bearings a.co/d/2zrUgU2
    (2) 5/16" - 2" threaded bolts
    (2) 5/16" washers
    (2) 5/16" hex nuts
    (2) Locking washers if desired
    (1) 3/4" rod
    (2) 1" Electrical Conduit Brackets
    Base Stand
    2x4
    1x2

Just found this video. Nice design. I already built a double drop-turner out of PVC, but I like this much better. I will use one of my steel silhouette target stands for the 2x4. Thanks for the link to the bearings! 👍

Great video! Wondering where you got the base. I have some but a 2x4 won’t fit

I'm afraid the base was given to me by a friend who had them made years ago, so not something commercially available. It's a pretty simple design made by some guys on his farm who knew how to weld.

Also wondering if you ever settled on the weights and how you attached them to the 1x2, thanks for the help

I found 5-7.5 lbs works the best depending on the swing speed you want, 10 is too much, 2.5 is too light. The placement up and down the stick also change things. Best thing would probably be to experiment with your placements. And I just placed a wood screw in different increments and secure the weights with some electrical tape. I use the weights in my garage gym as well so I wanted to be able to take them on and off.

Thanks, planning on working on building it this weekend. I was able to order a base so I'm good to go. I'll try 5lbs first and go from there. @@JAShooting
