  • How to build a Resetting Can Target
    If you like to shoot any type of gun at a target, then you need to watch this video.
    In this video I show you how to make the Best Can Target Ever. It is a target that can be shot and repositioned without moving from your shooting position.
    It is cheap and easy to make. In fact, I made this with some stuff from my garage and you can too. So what are you waiting for, go have fun. Now you have a homemade target for you homemade weapons.

    Too much effort. Just hang the cans underneath the board.

      Jeff Nordengren also as the cans are hung, they're free to move making them abit harder to shoot. good hunting practice as rats and rabbits dont stand still.

      I use metal coat hanger wires that I make hooks out of . I have a shooting frame I made out of old scrap 2x4s . The cans don't fall off.

    hang a fishing weight to the bottom, light enough to drop off when it got shot, and heavy enough to pull the can right back to its original position.

      I would like to see if that actually works but I am still thinking the same as other comments suggested and just hang the cans from the string for swinging targets.

      I was thinking that when the video started. I thought he was going to tie weights to the other end. You could just hang them but I like having them stacked on a shelf.

    It's nice to have a stationary target vs. just hanging the can from a string sometimes, but watching this made me think that if you attached some sort of a small weighted object (something that won't defect the bullet back at you) to a piece of string that hung a foot or two below the can, when the can is blasted off the board, the weighted object should almost "pull" the can back up and into its "reset" position, which would remove the need to have the long "reset" string or rope. Just an idea.

    To take it to the next level, attach the end of all 5 cords to a stick/spare broomstick.
    Then you can reset all the targets at once, and you won't have to hunt around on the floor for the end of the string.

  • @FeyPaz

    Great idea, people don't understand that knocking down the cans brings a different level of satisfaction. It's just not the same if the cans are hanging.

    Why don't you hang a weight from the string under the board so when it reacts to being shot the weight pulls it back into position.

    • @eazye5182
      @eazye5182 8 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      I hear ya bud, that's ignorant to walk 100yards unravelling string the whole way. Very stupid vid.

    • @edoliohernandez1
      @edoliohernandez1 8 ปีที่แล้ว +2

      that's what I was thinking but have the weight be another can

    • @ronyerke9250
      @ronyerke9250 6 ปีที่แล้ว +2

      Hmm, weight on the other end of the string. Why not just fill the can with sand? It won't fly off the board any harder. I think his point was to be able to shoot the can off and be able to reset it quickly. I was thinking it might be good to dangle the can from a string, but then I thought about the effect wind might have on it. That would make hitting it more of a challenge.

    If you use a small finishing nail instead of a washer, you'll be able to easily change out the can when it gets ragged from holes. Just tie your cord in the middle of the nail and slide into hole in can. I use a long needle nose pliers to reach the nail when removing it.

    Tie a big knot or put another washer few inch below the board so it doesn't fall very far and just a little pull it will already set back on top.Try tying all the can's string together so you only have to pull one string and all of the cans will be set.And tie the string that you are going to pull onto something close to your waist level so you don't have to pick it of the ground.

    Super great idea. At first I thought to myself, "Why not just screw the cans to the board?" But then I realized that sometimes, if the target doesn't actually move, you might not know which one you hit. Also, actually seeing a target react so prominently to being hit is always more fun. Great for the kids. Would be great for slingshot practice.

    Also been thinking of building a resetting target for my airguns. But I kinda finally came to think that maybe the best target for me is just a few inches big round metal plate hanging from chains inside of a metal box (or this at least for longer distances). The swinging little clinger will surely notify me if I hit it. The box is just for collecting the pellets - for environmental reasons in the long run.
    Buut. A multi-target resetting system would of course be nice for-fun action airpistol shooting competitions with friends.. :)

    • @SpecificLove7
      @SpecificLove7  10 ปีที่แล้ว

      Bin Ly It would have to be a heavy weight for one of these cans, and the bullet would pass through so fast, I really doubt the can would get enough force to come off the wood.

    That is a good idea, but I feel that the extra "weight" would not allow the can to have much movement. For example, a bb gun would barely knock this can off empty and a high powered rifle would go through the can so fast that you might not see it move. Just a thought. Also I like to see a can fly off when I hit it with a bullet.

    Tie a semi-heavy weight to the other end of the string, maybe 2-5 pounds wouldnt know what works best cuz I haven't tried it, but I do know it will automatically pull that can up on its own rather than having to do it by hand. Obviously you would make sure that the weight hanging from the end of the string doesnt touch the ground while the target/can is sitting on the board. This is actually what I thought the video was going to show me when I saw him feed the string through the board.

    Ever try tying a heavier weight to the string and let it hang just above ground level? That way the can will move or fall due to impact from the bullet but immediately reset from the weighted string allowing gravity to pull it back into position for you eliminating the need to pull the string yourself? Never tried it or seen it. Just a thought. Can might get hung up resetting or not move much if weight is too heavy. Sounds like a neat project to try though

    Quick question wouldn't it be easier to just pull it tight and tie it of at the other end so it can't go anywhere unless you cut the string
