His range is basically from low Baritone (a bit of bass, tenor, and through the soprano ranges). The scary thing is he's even gotten better (which is hard to believe). He plays 8 instruments and sings in 12 languages. Although confident in his music, he's also very humble.
In fact, in his vocal fry he reached A1 in Love is like a dream in several live concerts ! In the last 3 years he developed his bariton range very much !

@@Tarasimonstudios Also check out yoga or aikido. They both have breath control that can help singer understand the goal and the feeling of breathing a bit better.
I guess that he is flexible and his muscles are long. I know that a longer neck and a breath that goes all the way to the tailbone make the voice stronger by creating more room for airflow and all the soft, long muscles giving room for more vibrato.

What's I like in Tara's reaction is her sincere emotions and professional comments, and obviously impressive repeating trials of singing these high notes. Just Bravo! The best reaction ever on TH-cam
Yes, there's no over-acting and stuff. She's authentic. Imo her and Ken Templin, and some other opera singers are genuine. Crazy thing is that Ken Templin and Ellen Pellegrino also have very similar range to Dimash.

I`m Russian and probably know more about him - yes, he has never stopped vocal lessons throughout his puberty and later, and he started when he was around 5 years old, never missed his vocal lessons and also plays the piano. My body went numb when I heard him, at first I thought maybe was the microphone malfunctioning, but no, I was wrong. I still get goosebumps, every time.
Excuse me, not to destroy your enjoyment but he did not whistle, he doesnt know how to whistle PROPERLY. He used "Inhale Phonations" which is NOT WHISTLE because as it says, INHALE. He inhales and makes his chords thin to make these high notes work. Why I know? Because I know how to use Inhale Phonations.

I wish I can do more than one like because it's well deserved I learned more from you and you're right he was classically trained since young age and still is, makes sense now how he kept his upper/whistle register. @Макс Макинов на работе. Пока нет времени. Может быть позже. В общем , она в восторге. Говорит, что это самое лучшее что она видела до сих пор. Много проф терминов
I am 66 yrs young and been around music and musicians/singers since i was in a band at 14 And until I heard Dimash on I Am Singer, the closest male singer with that sort of vocal range i heard sing would have to be Ivan Rebroff he sang about 5 Octaves Dimash has been measured over 6 octaves which is otherworldly. He also knows how to make you feel every lyric even in languages i do not understand. I do not know how but he only came 2nd on that show. You still have 12 more songs from that show plus the Bastau Concert, and more to watch like his first production video Screaming in which he did all vocals . As an aside he plays piano, stringed instruments and drums so he is a true freak of nature in a good way though.
I too was disgusted when he placed second in that singing competition in China John but I learned that they/he knew this going in for apparently the Chinese don't allow none Chinese to win their shows but it gave him massive exposure to a huge audience that has led to world wide recognition and that was his target all along I believe .... and I am eternally grateful that this happened for to not hear this unique voice would have been a tragedy ....oh and I am 69 years young/old !! :-) :-)
I don't know his full background, but I read he's been training since he was 5. He's in his mid 20's now. I can't wait to see what he'll do in the future.
Very good reaction and analysis. Thanks. I think you should like his performance in Russia - Sochi with the song of the group “A-Studio” (Sinful Passion). In the song you can hear a very deep chest register, mixed A # 5, and E6 head voice. Also awesome vocals and Runs/riffs. I am sure you will like it.

Yeah but its the fact that he’s a guy with a pretty low talking voice, it just makes it 10x more impressive bc his normal voice is so much lower than those high notes
Yay :) finally Dimash :) love ur videos btw! Do checkout his performance of Opera 2 in the same competition. And also his performance in Sochi called Sinful Passion.
I love how both Sam and Tara immidiately recognized the high note ("up tp the E?" "its E over high C!") and that your analyzing is similar but with different angles. Shows that you two are the only two singing coaches that are worth watching. Thumbs up
Yeahhh!!! A vocal coach who can actually tell us why he’s good. Every other coach just says “wow. He’s good” but never explains why. Thank you Tara for helping us learn something. I always walk away from these videos knowing something that I didn’t before.
I only watch two vocal coaches react to singers. You and Sam Johnson. A lot of people here call themselves vocal coaches but I truly only believe the two of you. Love you, guys!
Sam and Tara are the most informative. The other people are not as detailed as these two. They really explain what's going on and how sounds are produced.
I've heard Sam ignore pitch and claim that flat notes are "singers adding distortion" and he once got angry at a support vs strain video, while agreeing with the points that the video was making unknowingly
Although to be honest, in his beginnings he butchered lyrics in French and in English. Anyone who speaks French can hear this. Still, he is amazing. He has worked on his pronunciation a lot.

Thanks for reacting to Dimash. Definitely he is an alien... It would be great if you could react to more of him, presentation like: Adagio, Opera 2, Sinful Passion, Hello, All By Myself, Show Must Go On. Oh ... Great presentations. Also, in the comments some people recommend more of Sohyang, it would also be great. She's amazing. And with respect to your questions, you pronounce the name correctly. And ... I read that he studied singing from the age of five and his parents are great singers in their country of origin.
That was awesome 😀.I loved your analysis of his vocals and technique. He's been classically trained sinse he was five years and has this year graduated from university(in music). And he is still practicing to improve techniques and his vocal abilities. He also plays several instruments like piano(sinse he was five),guitar, drums and dombra. He uses swimming under water to increase his lung capacity. Btw he is not small,he is 191 cm..6'3😀 He is truly amazing 😍
Hey, nice reaction/analysis, really insteresting, I enjoyed a lot watching it, thank's so much ! I have to say, welcome in the Dimash's world, where nothing is impossible ! And, you saw like 10% of what he can do, even when you follow him for months, or years, he always brings something new to the table, this guy is not from earth, for sure. For the question you asked, Dimash already answered it, yes, he have that soprano register since he is a child, and he worked on keeping it when his voice changed. He has an incredible range, like you notice, but it's a lot more impressive that what you just saw here. He can go higher and lower, (in chest, mix, head, or whistle) and he controls his voice in everything (vibrato, breath control, transitions, volume, runs... etc) and in every style of music. Even if his principal is called "pop'opera" by a lot of people or Dimash says "neoclassical". If you want to discover him in right order, you can continue with "The Singer" this was Ep1, the second is "Opera 2" a russian song (by Vitas) and it's... fun. th-cam.com/video/anKmU1J0l9g/w-d-xo.html Anyway, thank's a lot for this reaction, I hope another on Dimash ! E X C I T I N G to hear you comment on Dimash's confidence, talent, technique, style and brilliance, and make connection to his early training....is goosebumps. I have never been interested in what it takes to sing, before Dimash. Have watched every vocal coach around for the past 12 months and only a handful are real deal including YOU. BTW, he is 6ft 3in tall.
That was such an awesome reaction and analysis of The Big D. ´s singing capabilities. Thank you very much for that, it was super fun to watch. If you have become Dimashified by now and are interested in other phenomenal performances of his I would watch the whole "The voice 2017" series in China and then possibly Slavic Bazar in Vitebsk ( Ukraine), Sochi performance ( Sinful passion), Gakku concert ( An unforgetable day) and Bastau concert ( Daybreak and Daididau). The young man, a talent he is, also plays four instruments and sings in Kazakh, Russian ( fluent in both), French, English, Mandarin, Ukraine and possiby in others we don´t know of yet. Thanks for a great reaction once more. Lovely it was!
Thank you for this wonderful reaction, you are so knowledgeable and clear and since you sing so beautiful, your examples are great. Dimash is from Kazakhstan This video is from China, Jan 2017, when Dimash was 22. You are spot on about his vocal training right through puberty. He started music school when he was 5. He sang soprano parts in a choir, because they didn't have enough girls. He is still working on his voice, with vocal exercises 2-3 hr a day and taking a lesson whenever he can. BTW. He is 6ft 3in tall (which is 191 cm), so not all that little.
This is the best first time vocal coach reaction to Dimash in youtube. She hit every details that need to be analyzed and emphasized. Plus, she really knows what she's saying. No more, no less. Please react to all Dimash's performance in Singer 2017. I'll be waiting. Subscribed.

2024 here now and I am still finding reactors to Dimash. It is exciting for us Dears to see first reactions and also when reactors introduce their friends to Dimash.
Excellent reaction...you guess it right. Dimash is classically trained since age 5 and continue his training up to this day (he's 24). He was offered a position with the Kazakhstan Opera but he passed at the gig since he wanted to try luck at the pop scene with a mix of pop with opera and folk sounds, in a style he calls "neo-classical". Awsome explanation, thanks.
I think you might would like to listen to "Sinful Passion" ,Dimash's cover for that song is insane. Also his other performance for SOS in July,2018 is amazing how he improved
Yes Sinful Passion is also a great 2nd Choice , I would leave Opera 2 for another occasion because it's really a fun song for him to sing , nothing more. Sinful Pasion has great sound quality so hearing his voice is the best here , they used great equipment. So I'll agree that she can start on Sinful Passion next and then my favorite , Daybreak from his Bastau concert.
Love your first time reaction to Dimash. He is a phenomenon. I can tell you have knowledge. It's always refreshing to hear a professional's comments about Dimash. He is everything in one beautiful package. Please keep going. There's so much more to experience. As you get to know him you'll understand why his fans, who he calls "dears", love him. Greetings from a Texas dear. DKIFC/USA
He was born with perfect pitch and a passion for singing, even as an infant. He started music academy at age 5. He has trained for 3 hrs a day, minimum, since then. So perhaps that suggests that he did train through puberty. It has never been a chore for his mentors to get him to train---more a chore to get him to stop and do anything else. But not REALLY a chore, because he cooperates with all of their advice.
YEEESSSS!!! Finally!!! Thank you, Tara, for a great reaction and analysis! I see you are new Dear (Dimash calls us, his fans, "Dears")! I am proud to be Dear! Please, react to Dimash singing Late Autumn, Confessa + Diva Dance (from movie 5th Element) and Hello. I adore Dimash!!! Greetings from Croatia, Europe Btw. Tara Simon Studios, Dimash is 6,3ft 😉
I was curious so I looked up a quick history of Dimash. He started going to the Aktobe’s Zhubanov Music College at the age of 5 when his parents noticed he had perfect pitch. After graduating from that college, he was invited to work at Astana Opera but turned it down because he wanted to sing contemporary music. He has a youtube recorded vocal range of 6 octaves, ranging from A2-D8. To date, he has sung in 10 languages live, which are Kazakh, Russian, English, Mandarin, French, Turkish, Ukrainian, Serbian, German and Italian.
Hi Robert, Di wanted to explore his range and various kinds of music, not just contemporary. He is developing his own style and my guess is it will always be a mix of genre's.
Of all the vocal coaches that I’ve seen react and review what Dimash does, you’ve pretty much taken the cake.. Very good! Bit you HAVE to do more now!..please!

I am dying to go!!!! But I live in Mexico and can't make it, I need to save money and vacations days and plan for the nanny, etc for the next one in America. I need to see him!!!!
I have always said... only REAL PROFESSIONALS know how amazing he is. How great his vocal technique is. And you have just validated that. I have met some Mr. Know-It-Alls on youtube who talk bad about his technique. Prove that they know so little about vocals. I suggest his performance of "Sinful Passion" next. You will have a field day using that video to teach your students. Enjoy it. We will be waiting for the vocal breakdown from you. So looking forward for your professional insights. Thank you for appreciating his talent. Best singer indeed. P.s. your voice and YOU are so beautiful. He will have a concert in London this Nov 19. Right now he is working on a secret project in LA. The world will soon hear about him. In case you want it, you can follow his IG @kudaibergenov.dimash
Tara, thank you so much for your expert discussion... it was fascinating to hear the breakdown of Dimash's amazing voice, for me as an appreciator of music, but somewhat of a less educated appreciator :)
IAm TheBlurr that’s exactly what it feels like too. It feels like your vocal chords gradually zip up from the Adam’s apple going back as the resonance changes from chest to mix to head. It actually feels a bit weird when its done right.
...if you think that his first performance from The Singer competition is out of this world you haven't seen anything yet ^^ Seriously looking forward to more reaction from you of Dimash! He is truely one of the best out there I think. Sohyang, Dimash are my absolutly favorite people to listen to ...almost every day ; ) Thx for a great reaction! :) Love your very good explanation about singing techniqes...that is understandable for an non-singer but only listener like me :)...ohh and Dimash isn't that little :D ...he is 1.91 m ^^...but he is very thin/slim lol
After hearing thousands of reviews I still think the last note where right at the end he goes from a soft breathy sound, moves into crescendo into pure tone and then fades away. This is outstandingly cleaver and musically profound. The last word he sings is Sleep. So to put his musical interpretation into context; when I go to sleep at night, just before I leave my body to go into the 4th dimensional astral plane, my conscious focus seems to suddenly and for only a moment, comes back into clear 3d focus, as if to take one last look at the 3D world before moving out of the body into 4D. This is exactly what happens when we die. How many times have you heard spoken that when someone is right there at the moment of death, they suddenly go from an unconscious focus to suddenly becoming awake and very conscious for just a brief moment and then they let go permanently. Now this isn't a permanent death transition only a brief sojourn into 4D sleep time that some have called a 'mini death'. Brilliant musical interpretation on the word final last word "sleep".

One of the best reactions of Dimash I have seen. I agree with you
Finally a true professional reacting to Dimash !! Thank you ❤ please keep analysing his performances. Sinful passion next?
Ps. He has been trained non-stop for 20 years, since he's 5 years old ☺

You said he was a tiny guy. I just looked him up an he's 6' 3".
He’s pretty tall for an asian
@@firstkeklastkeek1927 He's not entirely Asian though. He's Kazakh :) That means like half Asian. The rest is a mix between European and Russian, and a liiiittle bit of Arab is also in it
@@belindamelissa8801
Do not confuse Asia and Central Asia and Kazakhstan.
Kazakhstan is in 9th place in the world in size of its territory. Therefore, part of the territory of Kazakhstan is located in Europe, and the other part in Central Asia.
About 100 nationalities live in Kazakhstan.
Dimash refers to the titular nation, he is Kazakh.
Dimash is from Western Kashakhstan. Kazakhs may differ from each other depending on the place of residence and on what genus they belong to. Kazakhs speak one of the variants of the Turkic language.
On the territory of Kazakhstan there are no Arabs, except tourists and scholars, who in ancient times drove into the territory of modern Kazakhstan with trade caravans.
Oh wow I feel very represented

"That's impressive for a girl to hit soooo, he's an alien"😂
Little did she know she will become a fan girl for Dimash!!!
She's not listening to this for the first time...
There's plenty of her fake reviews on utube. Acting like it's the first time hearing dimash.
@@vandanamalhotra1657 Ken’s reaction is succinct. Just a few words that say it all. :)
@@bidderswede I watched almost all her reactions to Dimash and you lie. This is her first reaction and in all others she was not faking that she heard him for the first time, she heard that exact performance for the first time, which is totally different thing
She knows her stuff but talked over a lot of the song and stopped it during and right before the best parts of his performance😆
I`m Russian and probably know more about him - yes, he has never stopped vocal lessons throughout his puberty and later, and he started when he was around 5 years old, never missed his vocal lessons and also plays the piano. He could hold his breath for quite a while due to him taking swimming lessons since the early childhood
Not just piano.
Молодец
He’s amazing
And I am Kazakh from the same town as Dimash and know of him even more. But what I mean here it has nothing to do with nationality!
@@anarakonskali3228 I get you. I'm Romanian, but I know sooo many things about him. Probably at the beginning of his career, Kazakh and Russian speakers had access to more resources about him, but now all of us, English speakers, have. Chinese too.
super reaction! have you ever heard a controlled D8 for 5 seconds? from a man?) You have to hear it, if you continue to watch the performances of Dimash.
Sorry, but I didn't mention "Whistle"; whatever is called, I haven't heard it from other singers or wannabe singers.
Dimash is so good it's an unbelievable treat every time I listen to him and I never get tired of listening to him. So glad you are reacting to Dimash. Just wait until you see all he can do with his voice, yes he is an alien! LoL He has been trained from the age of five until now, and he's twenty-five.

OMG, Dimash!!! He's truly an Alien!!!
I have never heard a voice like that (90 yrs young)
I love that you mentioned Rebroff lol I was hoping someone would!

Rashed reacts is good too.

rebecca is not bad either..but i agree sam and tara explain and react more thoroughly
I've heard Sam ignore pitch and claim that flat notes are "singers adding distortion" and he once got angry at a support vs strain video, while agreeing with the points that the video was making unknowingly
And if that's not amazing enough, he sings in 12 languages.... haha
😱😱 Bow down now!!
Although to be honest, in his beginnings he butchered lyrics in French and in English. Anyone who speaks French can hear this. Still, he is amazing. He has worked on his pronunciation a lot.

If you want to discover him in right order, you can continue with "The Singer" this was Ep1, the second is "Opera 2" a russian song (by Vitas) and it's... fun. th-cam.com/video/anKmU1J0l9g/w-d-xo.html
Anyway, thank's a lot for this reaction, I hope another on Dimash !

Don't forget Italian ;)
Thank you for this wonderful reaction, you are so knowledgeable and clear and since you sing so beautiful, your examples are great. Dimash is from Kazakhstan This video is from China, Jan 2017, when Dimash was 22. You are spot on about his vocal training right through puberty. He started music school when he was 5. He sang soprano parts in a choir, because they didn't have enough girls. He is still working on his voice, with vocal exercises 2-3 hr a day and taking a lesson whenever he can. BTW. He is 6ft 3in tall (which is 191 cm), so not all that little.

He is everything in one beautiful package. Please keep going. There's so much more to experience. As you get to know him you'll understand why his fans, who he calls "dears", love him.

I said A2, not F2. A2 is lower than C2, but yes, it was in sinful passion that he hit it.
You are right, I should have looked up octaves before saying anything.
Robert Irwin that’s totally okay:) I’ve made the same mistake:)
Hi Robert, Di wanted to explore his range and various kinds of music, not just contemporary. He is developing his own style and my guess is it will always be a mix of genre's.

As I would describe it’s a heavenly sound ❤
