Coop, just wanted to say I always appreciate how you differentiate between human error and mechanical failure and bad design. Thank you for being humble enough to admit “yeah I messed it up by doing this.” Lots of reviewers would say “oh I broke it so it sucks.”
I think this thing sucks anyway tho it is basically a gun and it could blow up if Miss used. Personally other the something like a gas power system to prevent the spring for weaker nerfs I don't think gas has any place in Nerf
I can actually see a sniper kit built using this compression system but the loading mechanism for ammo is just the single barrel. It'd actually be a justified Nerf sniper rifle and having a gas kick would definitely play into the emotional response.
they could have put a stopper at the bottom of the caddy to protect the trigger from not being accidentally pressed. Basically the same as the launching mechanism without the poking thing and trigger assembly. It seems such a simple but important oversight, specially when taking into account what you said at the end regarding general safety and being able to properly handle this device. And I agree, you can definetely mess someone up with that
I think their caddy/pouch is pretty poorly designed, it would be better if the shells were pointed downward though as an "easy" fix to that issue. That way you hit the floor/your leg instead of your face if one gets set off accidentally. A simple 40mm grenade pouch would probably be a better option for the more "normal" sized shells
I absolutely adore that Quack Attack attachment, I'm not a huge competitive nerfer but having one of those would be so freaking cool. Reminds me of the Duck's foot flintlock pistol.
I think it’s called the Quack Attack because there was this thing called the Duckfoot pistol, which usually had 4 barrels arranged horizontally, which looked like a duck’s foot, and the Quack attack is basically the same thing, but shooting half darts
See that big chunk of smile every time he shot that 3x barrel? That's the moment you know why you love this foam thing so much! I can totally relate to that.
The compression issue is what I'm really concerned. Potato cannon kinda works that way and it DOES end badly if you overspray, or if there is a leak at the pipe thread. I blew my face once, but not as much as burning my hair, not yet. Take Frank's experience in this clip and check for O-ring fitting or any loose thread, as well as fitting on the barrels. This is a nice little project after all.
This isn't the same as a potato cannon. A potato cannon is igniting the ether or hairspray or what have you. This isn't igniting the green gas, it's just using it to hold pressure.
@@iceman5117 Correct! Though same I would say both devices need a propellant container of somesort, both will shake loose in some parts, and both are just as dangerous as heck if you don't know what you're doing.
coop, i love your new tac gear! it looks like the British army webbing that we use at army cadets, but way more cool and fun looking than camo! Looks awesome!
They make adapters so you can use propane witb stuff like this. The adapters cost about 15 dollars, and obviously you have to be ok with the smell of propane, but propane is way cheaper than green gas (especially in the long run). Green gas also has lubricant in there which propane is lacking, but you can just take the cylinders apart every now and then and oil the o-rings yourself.
This this this. Can not believe I scrolled for as long as I did to find this comment. Propane is much cheaper and works just the same. Yeah it stinks a little and you need to get some silicone oil as well but so nice to walk into any 24hr Walmart and grab a 4 pack of propane for $20
I find it really neat seeing the 40mm shell crossover tech from airsoft to foam darts. I wonder what kind of cross compatability/practicality this sorta tech might have across that airsoft/foam dart divide, especially this little gadget which seems much faster and more efficient than typical airsoft 40mm launchers. Also interested in the potential to mod/print some of the 3 dart barrels to fit in more airsoft launchers like the 6rd rotary drum fed launchers
This is an excellent demonstration of why ThinkGeek's Nerf Nuke joke for April Fool's was never going to be a real thing. They would have wanted it to be a springer or HAMP, but the 100 darts or however many it was would've barely pooped out and Hasbro wouldn't have used gas or anything powerful enough to get them sued in a kids' toy brand.
Protip: load a cut-down mega XL dart backwards, push to bottom. Drop in handful of .50 foam balls. Squish 2 rival balls I the front to hold everything in. Enjoy your canister shot.
You could likely make a prop super shotgun from doom using double loaded 3x snipers as "shells". And all you'd need to do is make a mechanism like the nade launcher style attachment version, that works off of a trigger, and hits two at once. Then break action to reload. Would be awesome.
I'd like to see a 3d printed pistol/rifle with a normal trigger and a sight that would accept these shells, with the sniper barrel it would be an absolute monster for long-distance shooting lmao
With a spring system (which likely already exists) that could use a larger spring, I think this could be more reachable for some people. Also, no rival barrels rip (ig the XL barrel works?)
The ideal use for an quack attack or the nuke (for me at least) is Room cleaning, shoot It on the door to hit everything on the Room and If doesn't work Just use your primary to clean the rest
7:41 a similar version of these things actually exist and they are used to open doors, it’s called a master-key and they attach to a rail on the barrel and these ones you are showing right now are the nerf eqeuvelant of the “Master-Key”
I thought the first green gas foam flinger would have been a mine or bomb of sorts. There have been claymore and grenade types of different propulsion mechanisms but, this is something else. Kickn yo.
I feel like the safest/most practical ammo for this is the only one I didn’t see: Rival/.50 cal balls. An ammo that drifts at longer ranges and a squishier ammo for safe close range engagements
That thing is so cool! They should make a Missile Launcher attachment! But...That thing is dangerous... As you pointed out that thing is so powerful you could stick a real projectile in the barrel and seriously hurt someone... Not to mention there's so much gas coming out the front it looks like you're firing a real weapon. Definitely no one under 18 should purchase this.
The base -the canister - looks like being modeled after airsoft grenades - I bet these would work in airsoft grenade launchers (if it's 40 mm then it'll work) - so if you want the m203 there is a relatively easy way to have it shooting foam now. You'd be limited to the snipers and mega XL (as all the others protrude past the diameter of the base). And the other way around - if an airsoft player want's non-obtrusive grenade launching platform this launcher seems to be the smallest there is. I don't think it'll be able to hold airsoft grenade for long (as those tend to be all-metal) but for that special case situation (maybe as a vehicle destruction device) -see the target-load-shoot - it'll work nicely (especially how quick this is to load) and you don't have to lug around a whole grenade launcher.
Hearing coop giggle after every shot is just so wholesome, its great to see him having fun after a long time of disappointing nerf products.

The “nuke” attachment going 55 feet per second doesn’t seem that bad for HvZ. But maybe have the zombies wear some kind of eye protection to be safe.

The 3x mega should work, I once saw someone load mega rounds into a Zeus so I'm guessing the diameter is the same
@humzaakhtar9208 rivals are slightly larger than megas, so a rival can go into a bigshock, but a mega won't be as good in a pilot or kronos
Those are air soft 40mm shell charges. Really smart to repurpose them for nerf. Looks hella fun.
