I generally use this system: p1 (limited to 3 items) for things I must do today, p2 (limited to 7) for would like to do, p3 for generally evening tasks and p4 for small [mostly unimportant] tasks that can be done at any time during the day.
I also have a @this_week label for important tasks that must be done this week but don't have a specific day for me to do them. I also have @next_actions for my active projects!

Excellent information. As I started applying Flags properly, noted P1 tasks were not moving to the top of the "Next 7 days" view. The reason was I have overdue items that take priority even over P1. The ability to do Searches on Priority Flags does the trick. Thanks a lot for these presentations, helps out tremendously.

Hi Carl - do you know if you can automatically add a flag to OVERDUE tasks when they are OVERDUE?

Hi Josh, no you can’t do that. If a task becomes overdue, the date will turn red and you can filter for it using “overdue”. So while you may not be able to add a flag, you can still separate them out or have them move to another section.

Carl I use flags slightly differently. It is more or less based on 5th option you have mentioned. My daily objectives would be P1 and other 8 tasks would be P2. My P3 tasks would be like important not urgent. I will so this of I have time to spare. My P4 tasks are routines. Thanks a lot for wonderful videos you make very week.

I use the flags for my GTD system to work properly. All tasks are p4 unless I give them p2 (for next actions - this is what my p2-filter is called). In "my day", I have set up the filter "today & p1". I assign a task p1 from my next actions, so this is the one I choose to do today. p3 is not used at the moment. I could use it for all other tasks and assign p4 only to undated tasks I can only do in the future (not actionable right now). I have a Someday project - maybe I should put a filter on p4 for Someday and eliminate the project as such.
