  • In this video, Pastor Voddie Baucham responds to the popular cultural manta, "Love is love" & exposes, using scripture, why the internal logic of this idea can actually lead to disastrous outcomes. Furthermore, he confronts the idea that God deprives people from "the good life" and the fulfillment of the desires that lead to Joy.

    Speaking as a gay man of 47 years.. Now a Non-Practicing gay man, That is all i knew. That was my only experience.. before the age of 4, a relative sexually abused me. So i had nothing to compare to .. That abuse screwed up my wiring.. I walkedAWAY from that life when i Accepted Jesus into my life..
    I do not fornicate now, or commit adultery with married men, ie'bigFANI. I live a quiet, and celibate life.tpday.. Looking back on the 60 years, i wish i had never been introduce to that.. it is learned behavior.. I use to blame God for the thoughts and ask Him to take them away.. Then i realized, it was not God that put those thoughts and behavior into my head. It was Satan.. When i pray, i ask, "God, your will be done. You know my struggle, and i am grateful i can be a better man and avoid sinful behavior" AMEN.... I tell Satan. go away and take your evil with you. You no longer have permission to tempt me. And that works to drive those thoughts away.. I am a Saved man today. I love the Lord with all my heart. There is deliverance and hope.

      God didn't give us evil desires/thoughts. God will not remove those thoughts (ie FreeWill). We have to reject Satan and tell him he no longer has power over us and that he no longer has our permission to plant those thoughts/desires.. Then give Thanks and Glory to God for eh strength to resist and reject Satan.

      @@CelestialSky-om4te I used to ask, "why did all these things happen to me..?" almost accusing.. here is my testimony:
      "but this life is a lesson, and we're just improving" I can't remember who said that. That line touched me.
      I loved working in Japanese garden design, building ponds and waterfalls.. Japanese gardens are unique.. Each stone is hand selected and meticulously placed. The flat round pebble beach rocks assimilate water in a dry stream bed.. And on the path the stones will become jagged and uneven to bring your attention to your feet (so you don't trip? NO) So you notice something that would have gone unnoticed had you not looked down. Or a reflective stone will be place to reflect light into the shade to highlight a beautiful specimen plant. I realized that i'm being directed to the beautiful things that God wants me to see. And when i come around the corner, the wide flagstone brings my attention up and take in the expansive view and reflect on the beauty.
      20 years after i stopped working in the Japanese Gardening field. I realized why i loved it and what lessons it taught me.
      When i have rough patches in my life, i must remember to ask the question, "What lesson am i supposed to learn, What am i supposed to see?" When you sincerely ask that question, God will always give you the answer.
      And when you learn the lesson, that means you no longer have to keep tripping on the uneven stone in the garden of life. You can no longer think of the tough situation or rough patch as a bad thing.. It is always good to learn.
      Today, I ask God to give me the really hard lessons..And i know that the lesson i learn will be even greater. Life is so very interesting when you are in a state of learning. "but this life is a lesson, and we're just improving" Ask God to direct your life and focus, He will show you amazing things.

    I think people may say the Christian lifestyle is boring. I know people who wear crazy clothes because they find dressing smartly as boring and plain. When you are filled up by Christ and the Holy Spirit, you really don’t need anything extra to keep yourself entertained and crutches such as drinking never really fills you up anyway.

But following them will not save us. Following Christ, putting our trust in Jesus and His finished work on the cross, will save us from the eternal wrath of God. That is why we must repent of our sins and turn to Jesus to be saved. He took the punishment that we deserve because of our sins so we don’t have to. To those who have put their trust in Jesus Christ, God gave them the right to be called children of God, and may enter Heaven through His shed blood.

      Q: Is Jesus a God?
      A: Yes
      Q: So how many Gods are there in heaven?

      Q: Where is Jesus?
      A: He is sitting to the right of God.
      Q: So how many gods are there in heaven?

      Q: Where is Jesus?
      A: He is sitting next to the god.
      Q: How many gods are in heaven?
      A: Only one.
      Q: Are they sitting on the same chair?
      A: These words are understood only by the one who has the holy spirit.
      *so.. God sacrificed God to God in order to save God's creation from God. God prayed to God for help but God didn't help God, and God killed God with help from humans. My issue with the statement “love is love,” is the simple fact that it has no boundaries. Where do we draw the line. Suppose a man in his 40’s “loves” a 9 year old boy or girl and wants to be with them romantically. Do we cheer this behavior on and label it as “love is love? “ What if that was your child? Suppose a teenager loves new born babies and desires the permission from the parents to date the child at that age? Do we embrace this “new love?” Where do we draw the line? When I was a child a common statement for encouragement was you can be anything you want to be!” Unfortunately it seems in today’s society that has been interpreted literally. The world is obsessed with taking away anything that appears to be a limitation.

      Try these three steps. Get a daily Bible so that you can read through the word in one year. I recommend the macarthur's daily Bible. Read it every day. Pray to God and ask him for this ability. Repent of your sins and give them to Jesus asking him to take them away from you because you know you're not able. This works amazingly well because he is just and true to complete the work that he has started in you. The Bible says he will give you the desires of your heart. It's not that he'll give you what you want. He will change what you want to fit his will. He will literally give you the desire.@@mwe8414

    The ancient Greek philosophers identified four types of love:
    1. Eros: This type of love is based on physical attraction and desire. It is often associated with romantic love and passionate feelings.
    2. Philia: This type of love is based on friendship and mutual respect. It is characterized by loyalty, trust, and shared interests.
    3. Storge: This type of love is based on familial bonds and affection. It is often associated with the love between parents and children.
    4. Agape: This type of love is based on selflessness and compassion. It is often associated with charitable acts and unconditional love for all people.
    People who say "love is love" are inherently ignorant, and are making an excuse to carry on with their perversion.

      But the problem is many homosexuals or their supporters will tell you that their feelings for each other is not only sexual. They will tell you that they feel it in their heart, they fall in love for each other, they are in love with each other. See, they even get married and have kids (by adoption, from surrogate mothers or sperm donnors etc).

      @@blaisekufuidi9808 that is a good point to bring up; there is a often more depth to it than purely sexual desire (it would be much more worrisome if it was not!). At the same time, it's called a sexual preference for a reason. Usually, the people who say "love is love" are not advocating for pedophilia, so they do usually mean the kind of love consenting adults have for each other.

    • @aRotundCat
      @aRotundCat 4 หลายเดือนก่อน

      I can see your point. People aren't born gay, but that doesn't mean it's a choice. Children's brains develop constantly, and eventually the mind develops attraction. Depending on the circumstances and experiences of the child, they'll develop feelings and a sexuality. For most people, they like the opposite gender. In problematic cases, they get fetishes. And some people, they like the same gender. But it's never a choice that the person actively makes. And it's not like they can just choose to be straight. Gay men feel the same icky feeling thinking about kissing a woman that straight men feel when they think about kissing a guy. Why should someone be punished eternally for something they didn't choose? Isn't that a bit unfair?

    Love is Love theology falls apart because of two things:
    - it makes no boundaries so like the reasons you gave (inappropriate relationships with kids, animals, married parents, etc) makes it dangerous and destructive.
    -also, if you press them on the issue it’s less about “love” and more about lusts, because it wouldn’t be enough for them to just love and care for a person without some form of intercourse. It’s almost always rooted in lust in the place of love. (Eros rather than Agape or even Phileo).

      Doesn't even need to be answered biblically, because there are obvious logical reasons. God didn't invent war, he granted free will, with that free will we invented war. If we weren't granted free will, we'd chastise him for that too. God didn't invent illness, he invented a universe that operates logically. You can't have a logically coherent world if you can ingest bleach and not die. You can't have fire to burn your food yet be immune to the potential suffering of being burned.

    Brandon, you nailed it when you described it as "a slippery slope" because that's exactly what happens when we start to blur the lines, or remove boundaries altogether.
    I remember several years ago coming across an interview with an older man who spoke candidly about being a paedophile and who tried to explain to the interviewer that the children he molested (of course he never used that word) had feelings of love for him too.
    I was shocked that this man had been given airtime and that the interviewer barely challenged him on what he was saying. I came to the conclusion that this televised programme was a form of conditioning; rather than pouncing and eliciting immediate rejection, evil usually creeps in on its victims to try to subtly mould the minds of those without a solid Christian foundation into adopting its nefarious agenda.
    Only a few decades ago the mere idea of a pride parade would have seemed completely ludicrous, yet look at us now. They are even trying to replace the word paedophile with the new term "minor-attracted person", no doubt to make it less triggering, and dare I say it, more acceptable. Will what is heinous to us today also become celebrated in a few years' time? I hope Jesus comes back before then.
    God bless 🙏🏼

      @@Durray13 Jesus is God but God is three persons. Think about for instance the triforce from Legend of Zelda. The triforce is ONE thing but three triangular pieces. Also, you're completely missing the spiritual realm in this. The spiritual realm is MORE real even than the physical realm we use our 5 senses for but we lack the "hardware and software" to sense it because our spiritual side has been disconnected due to Adam and Eve's sin (sin by its very definition is just separation from God). Jesus lived a perfect life, died and rose again to reconnect that gap. Those who repent and turn to him become "Reconnected." We are able to sense the spiritual realm again and communicate with God once again. This is also why debating never brings people to God, you're using your brain, etc. which are physical "Hardware" to understand what can only be understood through spirit. Instead I'll offer Bible verses which were created through spirit:
      Romans 3:10-12 says“There is none righteous, no, not one;
      There is none who understands;
      There is none who seeks after God.
      They have all turned aside;
      They have together become unprofitable;
      There is none who does good, no, not one.”
      But the good news is that in Romans 10:9, it says, "So you will be saved, if you honestly say, 'Jesus is Lord,' and if you believe with all your heart that God raised him from death."
      Once you accept Jesus, the bible says in John 14:16 "But the Helper, the Holy Spirit, whom the Father will send in My name, He will teach you all things, and bring to your remembrance all things that I said to you."

    Why are we conflating Desire with Love?
    There is nothing wrong with a person loving someone of the same sex. But sex is not love. To love is to sacrifice of the self for the good of another. The question is whether or not all sex is good for a person. And by "good," I mean in line with God's created order. That which is Good is truth revealing and life giving.

      Taking it a step further and assuming that two same sex people “love” each other so they want to marry each other. The biblical outcome of marriage (i.e. fruit) is reproduction (children). That is why God created marriage so that a man and woman could produce children. Of course, there are factors that come into play and some couples have difficulties, choose not to have children, adopt, etc. With same sex marriage, however, this is not possible in the natural sense, or more accurately, the Godly sense, though same sex couples can ONLY become parents through other means, MAN created means. And also, there is no universal standard of “love” so while you may perceive it as self-sacrifice for the good of another, how does one measure that exactly? Who gets to decide that? If it’s not a societal expectation/standard and falls onto the shoulders of the two parties that are “in love,” that’s when things can go completely off the rails and vulnerable children/people will be taken advantage of.

      You are the MVP of this comment section and every other comment section on a video about Voddie's sermon. We are using unbelievably poorly defined words, and it is leading to evil confusion that will result in further pain and division between LGBT communities and the church. To some people "love" includes sex, and to others love and sex are completely unrelated. A celibate homosexual Christian says "love is love" and they mean Christ-like self sacrifice for another person is what it is. An atheistic gay marriage activist says "love is love" and they mean both love and sex between same-sex couples is "good" and "beautiful" by whatever standard they're using to define those concepts. So the celibate, homosexual Christian says "love is love" and then Voddie assumes the Christian is evil or ignorant because he thinks they're making the atheistic gay marriage activist's argument when they're not. There are more layers of confusions than that even, but this is a TH-cam comment and already too long. This whole thing is such a mess it's unbelievable. Truly an impressive and tragic breakdown of communication resulting from our fallen state.

      Either you don't understand what sacrifice is, or you are an incredibly selfish person. Everyone in a healthy relationship sometimes sacrifices for the person they love. I know my husband and I both sacrifice for one another all the time.
      Just the other day, my husband couldn't find his keys, so I sacrificed sleep in order to help him look for them so he wouldn't be late for work. And he doesn't like the feel of lotion, but he knows a foot rub with lotion is one of my favorite things in the world, so he sacrifices his comfort to do that for me, sometimes.

    I actually sent this sermon to my sisters girlfriend. Needless to say they both freaked… went off on me.. and just caused our friendship to come to an end. I was always sure to show them both love and help whenever they needed it but the moment ( which was bound to happen) the moment I informed them of this all of that love I showed them, all of that friendship we had established…they threw away. Now I was the worst person to them. So be it if it be for my King Jesus. At the end they say they have forgiven me but I never asked for forgiveness for this. I cannot apologize for the truth. So now they see themselves as the bigger person but so be it. I just stay back now. I still love them and pray for them. Someday I know they will both come to Christ. Oh and I forgot to add my Christian family has told me to just stop talking to them of the gospel and in an unrelated note even of revelation. I’m the youngest in my church and for some time I was told I’m overdoing the Christian thing. What is going on with this world? We need to be bold for Christ! I have remained silent and just pray on it. I have slowly been seeing a change in my church leaders as they embrace revelation. It has to be God working through them cuz no one likes to hear me. But glory be to God! For he is the only one who can change the heart and mind!

My best advice would be to try a simpler approach. "You are the light of the world. A city set on a hill cannot be hidden. Nor do people light a lamp and put it under a basket, but on a stand, and it gives light to all in the house. In the same way, let your light shine before others, so that they may see your good works and give glory to your Father who is in heaven." Matthew 5:14-16. Just be a good example for others, and I'm sure that that others will see your genuine care for them which will add more weight to your words in their hearts. (James 5:15-16)

    Wow, this was such an excellent explanation and the way you connected the dots with how the trans and gay marriage logic is ushering in the justification for pedophilia. 👌🏻 Right on the money. I had never connected those dots before.

    I suppose it will be good if anyone explains to english speaking audience that in greek language (in which are written almost all parts of the New Testament) there are four different words for love and they mean different things and translating them to only one english word "love" creates a lot of misunderstanding. Agape - highest form of love. Philia - friendship, affection. Eros - let's say the sexual drive. Storge - love of a mother towards a child. Of course you understand that when you translate both Agape and eros and philia as just Love, a lot of problems in understanding will arise. So Agape can not be sinful in the way eros can be. The Bible is talking basically about Agape, but definitely not about Eros. Mixing this concepts creates a lot of misunderstanding even in my language where there is also one word for love.

      @@samnunnink7575 Yeah, Numbers are hard in its own way. I just skipped most of the family tree stuff. If you remember the Abraham -> Issac -> Jacob (renamed to Israel). His twelve sons making the twelve Tribes of Israel along with the Joseph's story. Then some idea of the sequence of Israel kings up to David and Solomon and then the splitting of the Israel kingdom into two kingdoms of Israel and Judah and that the most important Tribes were in Judah and Jerusalem, for me this is quite enough as the start. On the other hand the prophets are almost impossible for me sometimes. Without reading explanations they are almost impossible to understand. What was very interesting for me is to understand that Judah is not a bad name. On the contrary it was one of the best Israeli Tribes and it earned the honour for Jesus Christ to choose them for his earth parents.

    This was great - the Catholic teaching on the theology of the body takes this concept all the way to its proper conclusion by outlining what Godly love looks like - it needs four components: to be free, total, faithful and fruitful. There are very in-depth biblical reasons for these four components but by default it makes gay unions incompatible as they can never be ‘fruitful’. God’s love has a quality of being fruitful therefore unions that deny or block this component go against the flow of God’s will.

      Who needs Catholic or Protestant teachings to understand that homosexuals CANNOT reproduce and therefore not only hate themselves but the entire human race? They are nihilists. But it runs deeper. Homosexuality was introduced into the human race by fallen angels. The Book of Enoch which was source material for some of Genesis chapter 6 seems to hint at this; things like homosexuality, multiple wives (polygamy), sex with animals, abortion, were introduced to destroy the human race so the messiah couldn't be born or to so mar the human race God would not want to redeem/save them. Fallen angels, if real, hate the human race that will one day replace them. The Bible seems to hint at this.

      A: Yes,
      Q: And for whom did he go up?
      A: To God

      Q: Is Jesus a God?
      A: Yes
      Q: So how many Gods are there in heaven?
      A: Only one God
      Q: Where is Jesus?
      A: He is sitting to the right of God.
      Q: So how many gods are there in heaven?
      A: Only one god. Still
      Q: Is Jesus a God?
      A: Yes
      Q: So who many seated gods are there?
      A: Only one God?
      Q: Where is Jesus?
      A: He is sitting next to the god.
      Q: How many gods are in heaven?
      A: Only one.
      Q: Are they sitting on the same chair?
      A: These words are understood only by the one who has the holy spirit.
      *so.. God sacrificed God to God in order to save God's creation from God. God prayed to God for help but God didn't help God, and God killed God with help from humans. And that God is a father of himself and the mother of himself and the son of mother he created at the same time. He is also eternal but his birthday is...? 🤡

It does not envy, it does not boast, it is not proud. 5 It does not dishonor others, it is not self-seeking, it is not easily angered, it keeps no record of wrongs. 6 Love does not delight in evil but rejoices with the truth. 7 It always protects, always trusts, always hopes, always perseveres.
