If you had told me that Ghoul patrol was the first game and Zombies Ate My Neighbors was the sequel, I would have believed you. I would have thought "Oh, yeah, they made a lot of improvements. More weapons, an actual use for score, and they got rid of the bad platforming over instant death pits. Good on them."
I've never heard of this game either, until stumbling upon this video. I looked up Ghoul Patrol and it's very expensive to buy. After watching this video, I would never pay the amount that they're asking for.

I beat this game on snes every Saturday morning as a kid! Loved it! If you can get to the Jamaican pirate stage thier is a chest where you find 99 potions rest of the game easy

As Blondie said as a game itself it's just mediocre but as a sequel It's not as good as the original. Oh well still a great way to celebrate Halloween. And also I want that Lloyd plush.

I owned this game growing up, I love it! I’m a little biased having grown to love it but I do accept the criticism it gets. I’m super partial to its music however.

Sounds like it could use a mod to fix the things they got wrong (that momentum feature would bug the sh*t outa me) and add back the diverse weapon selection with additional "toys" since overall this is supposed to be a sequel! Own this game and played the shit out of it. Loved how they added a run function but made you have weight and momentum if you use it. Otherwise walk like you did in ZAMN. Enemies hitting you during death animations happened all the time in ZAMN and if you want video evidence watch Beard Bros where it happens constantly. Spawn rates never got as silly as ZAMN in some levels but you can tell they aimed for the middle ground of ludicrious levels and easy levels and used it as a standard. I personally got used to it because there were very few easy levels in ZAMN making me used too stupid and cheap enemy spawns. My main gripe was the lack of weapon variety and unique weapon effects, like silverware one shotting werewolves. There were also too few weapon pickups but at least it wasn't front loaded like ZAMN was. All in all the game felt rushed to me but far more playable then ZAMN. Again watch the Beard Bros to see the weaknesses live. It SUCKED when you got soft locked.
I think if you have to watch some youtube video as evidence that enemy death animations hit you all the time in Zombies, then it probably isn't happening all the time, or at least not as much as you think it is. Because I can think of very few situations in it where I took damage upon touching an enemy after it died.
@@AltairEgo1 You have to watch a YT video because it's old and you likely don't have the game. Unless you want to emulate it, but that's more work than watching a video.
1:52-2:03 Seriously! Was Dark Souls literally the only challenging game from recent memory to most of the local populace? Did it REALLY leave itself as such a benchmark for games with a hefty challenge at the time, that it has literally been the only thing people could think of when it comes to difficult or challenging games? Because if that's the case, then GOOD LORD, I do NOT wanna know how much of a drought the modern gaming market must've been in with game difficulty, that was beyond that of a patronizing and over protective mother, to get to where things are now! 8^(

When I was a kid in Australia I had no idea zombie ate my neighbor was a thing (it was called zombie) so learning there was an earlier better game was a shock , for someone who just owned Ghoul Patrol (which Pal edition are still cheap)

In all actuality, they had to have seen Evil Dead AND Evil Dead 2... Because they did exactly what Ash did on Evil Dead 2: totally forgot their brutal & horrifying past experiences, and did exactly the same thing that caused this hardship for a second time. Like morons lol.

To me, Dead Rising series was the closest thing I played to ZAMN.
