I do not know, why I am crying. This is ultimate rendenition in the best Symphony Hall in the world. This Requiem performance is dedicated to dying Europe. To its lost values, to its lost joy of Life, to its tradition and power. Faure Requiem its so true, so vivid, so amazing and honest music. In a way it is lamentation and pray to God, who left and forgot Europe in sadness and misery. Thank you Avro for this amazing musical experience.

"Men in late stages of urban development do not want to live any more. Not as unique beings, nor as type, neither as mob. In their living together in cities fear of death flees. What pained the peasant deeply, ie the ominous angst of his family whole perishing (along with his surname) forever, has lost its sense."

There are many great Requiems, but Fauré's has been my favorite for decades. Quite possibly the most beautiful Agnus Dei ever written. This is a lovely performance from first notes to last. Beautifully done by chorus, orchestra, soloists, and conductor.

    • @voraciousreader3341
      @voraciousreader3341 ปีที่แล้ว

I don’t believe anyone’s ever heard all of the settings of the Agnus Dei ever written….it happens to be _your_ favorite, that’s all. Why impose such an impossible and very personal belief on everybody for the whole of music history (the “quite possibly” description notwithstanding)??

    • @adude394
      @adude394 ปีที่แล้ว +2

@@voraciousreader3341 You're quite correct. It's only my opinion. Music is totally subjective, and one person's noise may be the next person's choir of angels.
That said, I'm not sure why my opinion triggered you so, especially as I qualified it by saying "quite possibly", as you pointed out.

Although, to be honest, this is the most odd pronunciation of latin I've ever heard. Maybe it's a type of regional latin pronunciation that I am not aware of. The performance was excellent in any case, if I listen with the ears of a musician rather than a student of languages.

    00:08
    I. Introït et Kyrie
    Requiem aeternam dona eis, Domine,
    et lux perpetua luceat eis.
Te decet hymnus, Deus, in Sion,
et tibi reddetur votum in Jerusalem.
    Exaudi orationem meam,
    ad te omnis caro veniet.
    Kyrie eleison.
    Christe eleison.
    Kyrie eleison.
Herr, gib ihnen die ewige Ruhe,
und das ewige Licht leuchte ihnen.
Dir gebührt Lob, Herr, auf dem Zion,
Dir erfüllt man Gelübde in Jerusalem.
    Erhöre mein Gebet;
    zu Dir kommt alles Fleisch.
    Herr, erbarme Dich.
    Christus, erbarme Dich.
    Herr, erbarme Dich.
    06:33
    II. Offertoire (Bariton-Solo und Chor)
O Domine Jesu Christe, Rex gloriae,
    libera animas defunctorum
    de poenis inferni,
    et de profundo lacu,
    de ore leonis,
    ne absorbeat tartarus,
    ne cadant in obscurum.
Herr Jesus Christus, König der Herrlichkeit,
    bewahre die Seelen der Verstorbenen
    vor den Qualen der Hölle,
    vor den Tiefen der Unterwelt,
    dem Rachen des Löwen,
dass die Hölle sie nicht verschlinge,
noch dass sie hinabstürzen in die Finsternis.
    Hostias et preces tibi Domine,
    laudis offerimus;
    tu suscipe pro animabus illis,
    quarum hodie memoriam facimus:
Fac eas, Domine, de morte transire
    ad vitam,
    quam olim Abrahae promisisti
    et semini eius.
O Domine Jesu Christe, Rex gloriae,
    libera animas defunctorum
    de poenis inferni,
    et de profundo lacu,
    ne cadant in obscurum.
    Amen.
Opfergaben und Gebete bringen wir dir dar,
Herr, nimm sie an für jene Seelen,
    derer wir heute gedenken.
Gib, Herr, dass sie vom Tode gelangen
    zum Leben,
    was einst Abraham versprochen wurde
    und dessen Nachkommen.
Herr Jesus Christus, König der Herrlichkeit,
    bewahre die Seelen der Verstorbenen
    vor den Qualen der Hölle,
    vor den Tiefen der Unterwelt,
dass sie nicht hinabstürzen in die Finsternis.
    Amen.
    15:11
    III. Sanctus
    Sanctus, Sanctus, Sanctus
    Dominus Deus Sabaoth.
Pleni sunt coeli et terra gloria tua.
    Hosanna in excelsis.
    Heilig, heilig, heilig
    18:46
    IV. Pie Jesu (Sopran-Solo)
    Pie Jesu,
    Domine, dona eis requiem,
    sempiternam requiem.
    Gütiger Jesus,
    Herr, gib ihnen Ruhe,
    die ewige Ruhe.
    22:12
    Agnus Dei
    Agnus Dei,
    qui tollis peccata mundi,
    dona eis requiem. (2x)
    Agnus Dei,
    qui tollis peccata mundi,
    dona eis requiem,
    sempiternam requiem.
    Lamm Gottes,
du nimmst hinweg die Sünde der Welt,
    gib ihnen Ruhe.
    Lamm Gottes,
du nimmst hinweg die Sünde der Welt,
    gib ihnen Ruhe,
    die ewige Ruhe.
    27:42
    Libera Me (Bariton-Solo und Chor)
    Libera me, Domine,
    de morte aeterna,
    in die illa tremenda,
quando coeli movendi sunt et terra,
dum veneris judicare saeculum per ignem.
    Rette mich, Herr,
    dum discussio venerit,
    atque ventura ira.
    Dies illa, dies irae,
    calamitatis et miseriae,
    dies magna et amara valde.
Dum veneris judicare saeculum per ignem.
    Requiem aeternam dona eis, Domine,
    32:08
    In Paradisum (Chor)
    In paradisum deducant angeli;
in tuo adventu suscipiant te martyres,
    et perducant te in civitatem
    sanctam Ierusalem.
    Chorus angelorum te suscipiat,
    et cum Lazaro quondam paupere,
    æternam habeas requiem.
Zum Paradies mögen Engel dich geleiten,
bei deiner Ankunft die Märtyrer dich empfangen
    und dich führen in die
    heilige Stadt Jerusalem.
Der Chor der Engel möge dich empfangen,
und mit Lazarus, dem einst armen,
    mögest du ewige Ruhe haben.

pity, I had the honour, with my beloved one singing in the choir, to attend an unforgettable performance at Tel Aviv ... Kudos to Ronny and Esther ;-) This is not even near to the musical experience I had ... Mossad?! ... This is cultural heritage of humanity ... Please ? I'm absolutely sure there is a recording ... otherwise You'd be absolute beginners ;-) Thanks a lot for posting it :-))
P.S.: What makes this requiem special is the lack of "Zorn Gottes". Please, my jewish friends, you might please forgive me, but having studied the old scripts for long ... is that something you are able to think of ? ... Is there more than "I'ld do you tenfold than that you did to any of my relatives" ... ?!
P.P.S.: Death is a gift. With right timing ;)
