At least with the original run, there was some degree of separation, the acting was better and the writing worked.
Love the show, but Roseanne in real life is a very angry woman. I followed her on Twitter for a while and had to unfollow because there was such a negative energy and darkness that surrounds her tweets and some of her fan following. Malicious arguing around the clock 24/7.
When i was young(12-14, 2009-2011) roseanne popped up on tv late at night. I didnt like it much, old sitcom, bad jokes, i thought. But when i got 15-17 i stopped switching the channel when roseanne came on. I remember watching it late at night and i loved it so much. I remember the final episode and i cried my eyes out. It broke my heart so much. I was depressed back then and always watched it late at night alone in the living room, my parents had broken up and our apartment was most of the time very quite, my mother was depressed as well. Watching the joyful family gather together and face problems and difficulties made me so happy. I think i always wanted something like this. Now that i am 21, i still imagine this house full of kids, and family and always people around and everyone is just happy. It may sound childish, but i really want this one day...
GermanSubTV i felt that same way about the fresh prince of bel air. I know off topic but i can relate to that feeling of momentary happiness from seeing your favorite show. Btw my father was highly addicted to drugs. So watching fresh prince and seeing the moments that uncle phil was a father figure to will, showed me what a father was like. They dont make shows like that anymore.
I had a tumultuous childhood to say the least, and I always wanted a family life like that as well. I made sure when I started my own family, I had it. You can too.
It breaks my heart a little bit that the show reboot is getting canceled. Her tweets suck, like really bad, but I can’t hate Roseanne. When I was young it was just me and my young single Mother. We grew up together watching that show. It was a source of solace for her to see a strong working class woman with a big mouth somehow make ends meet. They’re so similar.

The problem is that you are talking about a different generation of people. A lot of kids, who are now the adults, didn't really like or watch it back in the 90s. It was... ok, especially in the beginning. But after season 6 it just kind of dropped off in quality. You can't say one is like the other. I would have been about 12 when the show was at its peak. At that time the tv shows I was looking forward to watching were Rocko's Modern Life and Are You Afraid Of the Dark or The Secret World of Alex Mack.. (but because my sister watched it... and.. and... because Larisa Oleynik was really cute), but I was not looking forward to Roseanne.
I absolutely love Roseanne! As a kid I couldn't get enough of her! It was always areal treat when Roseanne came on in my house! I would never watch Roseanne without Roseanne! Not a single episode! It is her show and without her it's not Roseanne anymore!

I don't think we were so darn politically correct back then. We could enjoy a good laugh. I never felt that Roseannes show overdid it. I did however, think the guy on Last Man Standing did overdo it, constantly shoving his ideas in our face. I did not get that from Roseanne at all.

Jackie’s son, Andy, disappeared, also Roseanne’s last child after DJ, the baby… glad Dan’s alive, but it’s extremely weird seeing him with the new wife from Married With Children. I enjoy the Shameless cast visiting. The original Becky is excellent; I’m so glad she’s back. I miss the first actress that played DJ’s wife that left, 2nd one’s okay, but doesn’t matter because they’re rarely on. The script is still very witty. I’m so glad the show’s still around. Please let Roseanne return as a ghost in Dan’s or their kids’ dreams.

OMG, you must have been born yesterday. Roseanne's character and the show were based on her appearance in a mid 1980's Rodney Dangerfield special. Marcy Carsey and Tom Warner stole the character and "developed" the show from that. Dig up some fricking re-runs of ET from 1986-1987 and watch them.
Unpopular opinion: I actually like the new show better after Roseanne left it. She still seemed too much like “Rich Roseanne” and wasn’t as funny as she was in the early years of the original run. The “Rich” personally didn’t fit in well with the rest of the cast who I think seem to be playing the characters as they would have naturally progressed had the stupid Rich/Book storyline never happened. I love where the story is going now.

Not to be a stickler, but Roseanne *was* "Roseanne". "The Conners" without her is.. eh. They still get some punchlines and a decent story, but Roseanne really made the show shine. She may have been difficult to work with and controversial in her outspokenness, but I mean.. the original show was gold when it comes down to it. The revived series really shed some light on what 20 years does to a family, but giving Roseanne the axe I think really diminished what the show was/is capable of (though.. ironically, it reversed the original series' idea of how losing a spouse/parent can shake a family's core). You can tell that the best lines have been given to Gilbert (Darlene) - she's the reason for the revival - but it just doesn't replace Roseanne. I'll still keep watching the show, but I know it would be at least 5x better with Roseanne involved. Without her charismatic, sarcastic and demanding presence, it's basically a show that runs on supporting actors alone, and it just... kinda lands at a C+ rating for me. I still don't think she should have been let go; so many celebrities say far worse things publicly and still keep their jobs, or are even promoted. But that's the world we live in, I suppose... :/

Thank God Roseanne took the reins so early into production. It wouldn't of lasted as long, or been as good, with the normal hack writing of regular sitcoms. Plus, you have to love how the writers never grasped the irony that she gave them numbers as a brutal lesson (they failed to learn) on how they were treating each other. Yes, you only laughed at your own work while not acknowledging/appreciating the work of the other writers, you get a number. Both are treating people the same way, only one is clear in that treatment.

Jackie’s son, Andy, disappeared, also Roseanne’s last child after DJ, the baby… glad Dan’s alive, but it’s extremely weird seeing him with the new wife from Married With Children. I enjoy the Shameless cast visiting. The original Becky is excellent; I’m so glad she’s back. I miss the first actress that played DJ’s wife that left, 2nd one’s okay, but doesn’t matter because they’re rarely on. The script is still very witty. I’m so glad the show’s still around. Please let Roseanne return as a ghost in Dan’s or their kids’ dreams.

I watched the show as a kid and I feel looking back on those shows, that they weren’t that one sided political like some shows are today. I do appreciate, Madam Secretary and how it can show if one is too far sided, issues can arise like big political and national fall outs.

OMG, you must have been born yesterday. Roseanne's character and the show were based on her appearance in a mid 1980's Rodney Dangerfield special. Marcy Carsey and Tom Warner stole the character and "developed" the show from that. Dig up some fricking re-runs of ET from 1986-1987 and watch them.
Unpopular opinion: I actually like the new show better after Roseanne left it. She still seemed too much like “Rich Roseanne” and wasn’t as funny as she was in the early years of the original run. The “Rich” personally didn’t fit in well with the rest of the cast who I think seem to be playing the characters as they would have naturally progressed had the stupid Rich/Book storyline never happened. I love where the story is going now.

I love the Roseanne show. first show ever made that portrayed some real life moments. Not like father's know best where people were perfect. I think it was a mistake firing her when we have a man leading this country that says whatever he wants and never gets punished for it. I wish the cast members good luck on the Connors!

Not to be a stickler, but Roseanne *was* "Roseanne". "The Conners" without her is.. eh. They still get some punchlines and a decent story, but Roseanne really made the show shine. She may have been difficult to work with and controversial in her outspokenness, but I mean.. the original show was gold when it comes down to it.
The revived series really shed some light on what 20 years does to a family, but giving Roseanne the axe I think really diminished what the show was/is capable of (though.. ironically, it reversed the original series' idea of how losing a spouse/parent can shake a family's core). You can tell that the best lines have been given to Gilbert (Darlene) - she's the reason for the revival - but it just doesn't replace Roseanne.
I'll still keep watching the show, but I know it would be at least 5x better with Roseanne involved. Without her charismatic, sarcastic and demanding presence, it's basically a show that runs on supporting actors alone, and it just... kinda lands at a C+ rating for me.
I still don't think she should have been let go; so many celebrities say far worse things publicly and still keep their jobs, or are even promoted. But that's the world we live in, I suppose... :/
Dan didnt die lolz. He had a heart attack at Darlene'z wedding. When he was n da hospital, Rosanne told him DJ revived him. I guess ppl missed dat episode.
But that was only in her book. In the last episode, she revealed she really lost Dan and how devastated she was.

Roseanne the "Show" is more real then "Reality" tv shows now days. The whole show is like a reality show, but it isn't. Who cares if Roseanne is a "Trump Supporter" We live in "America" right? Loved that show so much, true to life even watch the repeats. Hate tv sitcoms that have all profesional parents and there children are all smart colledge educated with good paying jobs. Not real to life phony,every family has some crazy members in them.
Aside from the Trump shit, I'm loving the show. I was sad to read the actor who played Mark passed away IRL. Darlene's son is a little spitfire. Love that kid.

Thank God Roseanne took the reins so early into production. It wouldn't of lasted as long, or been as good, with the normal hack writing of regular sitcoms. Plus, you have to love how the writers never grasped the irony that she gave them numbers as a brutal lesson (they failed to learn) on how they were treating each other. Yes, you only laughed at your own work while not acknowledging/appreciating the work of the other writers, you get a number. Both are treating people the same way, only one is clear in that treatment.

the date is dec 2 2018, firing Roseanne was the death knell for the reboot called the conners. ratings are dropping so fast ABC ordered only 2 more episodes. only John Goodman stood up for Rosie as the rest of the meaningless cast cheered her exit . it would seem noted lesbian sara shithead gilbert made a big play for her firing. since they killed Roseanne off by opiod overdose, it would seem they were disrespectful and shortsighted. at this time [THE CONNERS} is unlikely to last. karma is a bitch.
