      Not to keep it from being stolen but as a secondary retainer in case you hit a pot hole so hard the ladder might pop out of its rack. Either it stops it from doing so or it at least drags it along instead of it getting thrown up and possibly into the car following behind you.

      The key is the physical manifestation of a power that allows you to unlock anything, a door, unlocked potential, secrets, etc. a person with this key can open any obstacles in his or her path with a thought, which is actually what you see one of the game's villains doing while in possession of the key. You guys reach several doors that are impossible to open without the puzzle piece and he just like pokes at it, pretending to be doing something while claiming that it takes a lot of skill. Later you find out that he was only able to do that because he was in possession of it.

    The thing about the Elder Scroll's Skeleton Key is that it is a Daedric artifact and is able to magically unlock anything, and in lore if you realize it's power, not necessarily only locks

    Skyrim's Skeleton Key would make a great skeleton key. It can open anything. Literally anything. Not just doors.
    The Skeleton Key is one of, if not the most powerful artifact in ES. It's powers are the concept of unlocking itself. If anything in life bars your path, and you're able to rationalize it as a lock: the Skeleton Key can unlock it.
    That's any door, a person that doesn't want to hear you out, a heart that won't give you love, your own potential, the laws of physics, the secrets of the universe itself.
    There's a reason Nocturnal is probably the most powerful Daedra next to Sheogorath and Jyggalag.

    • @KonoGufo
      @KonoGufo 2 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      The Skeleton Key is powerful, but not *that* powerful. It's just one of the few Daedric artifacts that has had its true potential explored.
      Take Mehrunes' Razor for instance; in the lore the Dagger can sever an individuals connection to their own soul, and the user can also use it to cut their own soul into different shapes. Mankar Camoran uses this ability to cut his soul into the shape of a Dragon's, which allows him to wear the Amulet of Kings (and according to his books, he could speak fire, likely using the Thu'um). So we have a dagger that can cut through just about anything and can be used to trick the universe into thinking you're something you're not, including a Dragonborn, who have the potential to be demi-gods.
      There's also to consider that Nocturnal gets her ass kicked by Meridia at the end of ESO's Summerset expansion, so she isn't so high up the Daedric food chain that none can contest her. High up for sure, but not sitting at the top.

      @@KonoGufo I don't recall the source, but my understanding is that the Skeleton Key can be used to obtain CHIM. Through unlocking of your own potential. Which seems just about as powerful as it gets. Though of course the Razor could be used for that as well assuming you're creative enough.
