      @@theneer-do-well3240 yes you have to. Stretch with index finger pulling string vertically up and down at the 12th fret so equally tension on nut and bridge. Keep working it until u feel the string isn't stretching anymore.
      Once stretch out u can lock the nut. No point locking b4 as it has to stretch out fully.

    I just got my 3rd Floyd rose and I love them! Restringing them isn't as much of a pain as people say. You just need to keep streching strings until they can hold tune even after bends and then lock the nut. If you've done this correctly then you won't have to play with the nut a hundred times to retune the thing

    One thing I’d change, I know I started playing guitar 5 months ago and have only had a Floyd rose for 2 months, but to make shit simpler don’t cut the ball end. Put it on the tuner and cut along the middle of the bridge tuners and the saddles like literally in the middle. I get exactly one wrap on each string and it’s faster easier and maybe I’m crazy but it feels like it sustains ever so slightly more

  • @timbarnett5771
    @timbarnett5771 ปีที่แล้ว

    He makes this look ridiculously easy.... I've had atleast 25 different guitars with Floyd's on them over the years and it is something you just have to get use to doing with practice. Jamie has all those toys that he uses that speed up the process and make it easier which is why it looks simple. If your switching gauges or tunings your gonna be adjusting the springs too. If you stick to fixed bridge guitars just because you don't want to learn how to do this, then trust me, you'r missing out on all the tricks you just can't do without a Floyd.....

    • @alexjackson8841
      @alexjackson8841 ปีที่แล้ว

      Not everyone’s bothered about doing divebombs though to be fair. I have a gotoh 510 trem on my charvel without a locking nut which stays perfectly in tune for most whammy bar tricks it can take a good amount of Floyd rose type abuse before going out of tune. I’d say that’s far more practical for someone who’s playing doesn’t involve loads of divebombs and Floyd rose tricks

    You need a string Stretcha. Just got one. It’s awesome

    I must not stretch my strings good enough. I spend longer than i care to admit chasing the tuning around with the strings stretching and me working against the springs as i tune on string down the neck and find the first string out again. Its a nightmare. Love it once all that settles in though

      I recommend always stretching your strings until they don’t change tuning anymore before locking your nut.

      A cheeky hack is to tune them up half a step higher than you want and they will gradually come back down

      Practice lots of bends and also pull-ups with the floyd... settles them in real quick!
